This paper describes an innovative integrated solution for monitoring and protection of the power supply system of electric traction. The development of electronics devices, new possibilities to communicate (wireless), and new sensors makes it possible to design, develop and implement new hardware–software structures in various fields such as energy systems, transportation infrastructure, etc. This contributes to increasing developments in the monitoring and protection of railway infrastructure. A monitoring and protection system that uses sensors and devices to acquire electrical parameters from railway infrastructure has been developed and applied for fault detection and protection of power supply systems from electric traction. The solution of monitoring and protection presented are composed of a hardware–software structure with Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) communication for monitoring of power supply installations from the electric traction and a central remote system composed of a device with GSM communication and a server that will allow, among others things, accurate detection of the block section (SC), in which an electrical fault (short circuit) has occurred, determination of the circuit breakers electro-erosion from the railway installations and an indication of the opportune moment for maintenance activity, respectively, as well as knowledge of the technical condition of some equipment from the return circuit. The proposed and developed method for monitoring devices has been validated in the railway laboratory to confirm its capability to detect defects and was tested in the field. Experimental results in the field and appropriate data analysis are included in this article.

The use of lights are the command sources in our life, anytime and everywhere. On trending of demands, the alternative sources are important to increase the satisfaction on user requirement. While, saving energy is another issue to be considered on the light system designation. Therefore, this research provides the details on the implementation of the smart lamp with controlled light system based on Arduino and mobile application usage to save the energy. Smart lamp is a finest way to minimize and preserve light with the remote system in order to monitor and control the brightness of light. This research is created to design the energy saving smart light system via mobile application and devices. It is a minor prototype that is fully automated and controlled by Arduino board. The designation begin with identification of input of LDR sensor, PIR sensor and circuit setting. Next, the integration of hardware and software is implemented for Arduino program, mobile application and the devices. Lastly, the testing process is executed and the data is collected and analysed. The overall system has been experimentally validated with the scenario as setup. Through monitoring and controlling the light in such a way is always accurately matched to the actual need that allows to save on the energy usage and costs, as well as to improve the human comfort and efficiency.

The Covid-19 pandemic has plagued all corners of the world, including Indonesia. Simultaneously, the Ministry of Education and Culture (SE No. 36962/MPK.A/HK/2020), responded that learning during the pandemic can be carried out with an online or remote system and work from home. The application of online learning is a form of innovation that can be done to condition the teaching and learning process in the hope of preventing the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak. One of the online learning applications that can be used to support the learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic is Google Classroom. This Google Classroom application is equipped with classroom features that can be created by educators and can be followed by all students. The features provided are complete, including uploading materials, videos, assignments/practices, and even discussion forums. Research data was taken by distributing online questionnaires using google form to 122 students. These students are those who have done online learning using Google classroom. The results showed that the optimization of the use of Google Classroom can be used to develop online learning with high results, which is 73.57%.

This paper proposes the design and development of an embedded system with a robot for safety and security application using wifi communication and the webserver. This compact design has a robot along with various peripherals and sensors for detecting hazardous gas leakage and performs necessary control actions like an alarm for fire accidents, intruder detection, and sends alert messages to the local system. The robot can extinguish the fire and monitors the area inside the industry and passes the audio-video streaming to the local system. This robot also has a battery-powered wireless AV camera which provides robotic in-front environment information to the local and remote system and performs the audio and video streaming through a web server.

Abstrack: With the Covid-19 pandemic, the learning process in lectures is carried out with an online remote system (brave). In this study, the aim of this research is to see how bold learning affects students' interest in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The technique used is interviews by spreading open questionnaires and also making observations. The subjects of this study were students majoring in Paud Teacher Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. From the research conducted, it was found that the students' interest in learning from the Department of Early Childhood Teacher Education at the University of Pendidikan Indonesia was still high even though there were some students whose interest in learning had decreased. The conclusion of this study is that learning has an effect on students, whether there is an increase or decrease in the learning interest of students in the Department of Teacher Education at the Indonesian Education University.Key Words: Online learning, interest in learning, pandemic, covid-19

The current pandemic condition means that the learning process is carried out using a remote system. Children learn from home and are guided by their parents, the educational process must not stop even though it is a pandemic. With this, the role of parents at this time is prioritized especially in implementing character education for children during the distance learning period and parents are required to play their current role during the pandemic in implementing character education at home. This research is in the form of qualitative with the literature study method in finding related data and a descriptive-analytic process is carried out. The results of this study suggest three roles of parents in implementing character education, namely the role of parents as educators, motivators for their children, and providing strong role models. This needs to be done with strong intentions and a frequent habituation process.

The thickness of a supraglacial layer is critical to the magnitude and time frame of glacier melt. Field-based, short pulse, ground-penetrating radar (GPR) has successfully measured debris thickness during a glacier's melt season, when there is a strong return from the ice–debris interface, but profiling with GPR in the absence of a highly reflective ice interface has not been explored. We investigated the performance of 960 MHz signals over 2 km of transects on Changri Nup Glacier, Nepal, during the post-monsoon. We also performed laboratory experiments to interpret the field data and investigate electromagnetic wave propagation into dry rocky debris. Laboratory tests confirmed wave penetration into the glacier ice and suggest that the ice–debris interface return was missing in field data because of a weak dielectric contrast between solid ice and porous dry debris. We developed a new method to estimate debris thicknesses by applying a statistical approach to volumetric backscatter, and our backscatter-based calculated thickness retrievals gave reasonable agreement with debris depths measured manually in the field (10–40 cm). We conclude that, when melt season profiling is not an option, a remote system near 1 GHz could allow dry debris thickness to be estimated based on volumetric backscatter.
