The design of the roll-type electric baromembrane apparatus is developed. High quality separation of solutions is achieved by combining electric baromembrane separation with electrode cooling using collectors for the flow of cooling water with an independent arrangement of drainage channels of the near-cathode and near-anode permeate. A method is proposed for calculating the strength of the body of an electric baromembrane apparatus with the determination of the required thickness of the body wall and fiberglass flanges. Keywords: electric baromembrane apparatus, separation, membrane, strength calculation. [email protected]

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of four types of selenium (Se) feed supplements on the indicators of the oxidative stability of egg yolk. A total of 1,740 Bovans Brown laying hens were divided into 4 experimental and 1 control group. The diets fed to the experimental groups were supplemented with 0.2 mg/kg of Se, provided as sodium selenite, Se-enriched yeast, synthetic L-selenomethionine and hydroxy-analogue of selenomethionine. The highest concentrations of MDA, an indicator of secondary lipid oxidation, were confirmed in the Control Group eggs (P < 0.001). Egg yolks from the Control Group were found to have the highest lightness (P = 0.032), the lowest colour chroma and the lowest proportions of the red and yellow colours (P < 0.001). The highest vitelline membrane strength was measured in eggs from groups fed diets supplemented with organic Se (P < 0.001). No significant differences were found between groups in the total fatty acid content, the content of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids or the n-6/n-3 fatty acid ratios. Our study confirmed the effect of Se feed supplements on the concentration of MDA and the colour indicators of egg yolk and on the vitelline membrane strength.

AbstractThe aim of this study was to evaluate the strength of vitelline membrane and its correlation with other morphological traits and the viscosity of egg yolk of different poultry species: goose, turkey, Muscovy duck, chicken, guinea fowl and Japanese quail. Vitelline membrane strength (VMS) was defined as work and force after the deformation of yolk at 6 mm. Bird species affected the VMS of egg yolk. The lowest strength was measured for the vitelline membrane of goose egg yolk. There were no apparent differences in the strength of vitelline membrane for ducks, guinea fowl, chickens and Japanese quail. In contrast, the vitelline membrane of turkey egg yolk appeared to be of the highest strength. Statistically significant positive correlations were observed between VMS and yolk index, while there was no correlation between the weight of the eggs and egg yolk. The work deformation of yolk was positively correlated with the viscosity of poultry egg yolk.

Ceramic materials have been widely utilized due to its attractive properties including high resistance to extremely harsh environments; chemical and heat, and its durability to the remarkable mechanical strength. Inorganic flat sheet films in this study were prepared by dry-wet phase inversion process followed by sintering method, which expected to produce very unique micro-structures leading to improvement in performance for various applications including catalytic reactions and filtration processes. Aluminium oxide was chosen as the main material due its known capability in filtration processes, membrane reactors and membrane catalysis applications. Polyethersulfone (PES) was used as an organic binder in the membrane dope formulation. Besides alumina and PES, the dope solution was consisted of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and arlacel as solvent and additive, respectively. The main aim of this study is to investigate the effect of sintering temperature on the morphology and structure of the prepared membranes. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to examine the membrane structure. Since the morphology of a membrane highly influences its mechanical properties, the membrane strength was measured using tensile test. From the SEM, preliminary cast membrane structure displayed a long finger-like near the outer and inner walls sandwiched a sponge-like structure that provided the membrane strength.

The Green food-packaging membranes were prepared with N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) as the major solvent by using L-S phase inversion technique. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was adopted to characterize fracture surface morphology of membrane, and tensile machine was adopted to test the membrane strength performance. Research results show with the concentration of cellulose increases from 5% to 9%, structure of membrane becomes compact, aperture size becomes small and even, value of tensile strength increases 59.6%, and value of elongation increases 67.5%. With dissolving temperature increases from 100°C to 120°C, structure of membrane becomes loose, pore size becomes big and uneven, value of tensile strength decreases 19.2%, and value of elongation decreases 13.1%. The research can provide the theoretical reference for optimizing technology, adjusting the structure of membrane, and improving the performances of membrane.

Kinetic equation of dumping geo-container is considered, ALE dynamic mesh technique of finite element is applied, and strength and failure problem in the process of geo-container hitting the bottom is discussed. The finite element model of dynamic meshing is established, and the motion state, stress and strain of the geo-membrane of the large geo-container during the process of dumping are analyzed and calculated. By comparing with the results of the flume model experiment and dynamics calculation, the results verify the FEM model of fluid-structure coupled dumping geo-container; during the dumping, the tensile stress on the geo-membrane is the largest at the first 0.24 seconds after the geo-container hitting the bottom, and the maximum is 6.936 MPa at node 397 in the geo-container; after the failure analysis of the geo-membrane, the breaking strength is 27.050 MPa, which is less than the allowable strength, and meets with the strength requirements.
