Indian society changed after digitalization and economical reformation. Currently, the Facebook is the most popular social media in India. The political cartoonist took that platform as an opportunity to share their thoughts and raise socio-political issues through their cartoons. The aim of the paper is to study responses (likingness and affective) to political cartoons in respect to responsiveness towards cartoons, gender, and socio-economic status. The study was conducted among 875 Indians from different parts of India including males and females with various socio-economic backgrounds. The data captured in the form of sentiments (love, sadness, angry and happiness emotions) for each cartoon shared in the Facebook timeline. Then, relevant descriptive statistics were computed using IBM SPSS 20.0 software. Results showed that maximum Facebook users expressed their thoughts about political cartoons through emoticons in terms of like, sad, angry, and happiness. It is found that male user are more likely to be expressive to political cartoons than female user. Mostly user from low and middle socio-economic backgrounds relate themselves with the cartoon scenarios and shown interest than users from higher class of the society. Hence, political socio-political scenarios can be communicated effectively using political cartoons in Facebook as the people of India are relating themselves with various cartoons.

Gender-based public transport planning ensures accommodation of user group preferences to minimize inequality and discrimination among passenger needs. In the practice of accessing BRT Corridor I in Semarang City, it was identified that there were 3 aspects that determined the gap, namely: security, comfort, and accessibility. Importance Performance Analysis is used to describe the level of access gap by comparing service performance provided with passenger expectations. Of 70 respondents answered, 53 women and 17 men, two findings can be concluded. First, it was found that the value of disparity in male and female user groups was equally negative (-) which meant that services received by users were less than expected, with greater levels of access gaps for female user groups compared to male user groups with the value of the gap in women is -0.67 and in men -0.52. This shows that the problem of inequality in the female user group is more urgent to be addressed to meet adequate transportation needs and minimize the access gap that occurs in the female user group. Second, the main priority needs for handling access gaps in the female user group include accessibility aspects and comfort aspects, while in the male user group only the accessibility aspect is concerned. The role and purpose of the movement conducted are two key factors in priority differentiation.

Transit stations are generally well known as nodes of spaces where percentage of people walking are relatively high. The issue is do more planning is actually given to create walkability. Creating walking led transit stations involves planning of walking distance, providing facilities like pathways, toilets, seating and lighting. On the other hand, creating walking led transit station for women uncover a new epitome. Walking becomes one of the most important forms of mobility for women in developing countries nowadays. Encouraging women to use public transportation is not just about another effort to promote the use of public transportation but also another great endeavour to reduce numbers of traffic on the road. This also means, creating an effort to control accidents rate, reducing carbon emission, improving health and eventually, developing the quality of life. Hence, in this paper, we sought first to find out the factors that motivate women to walk at transit stations in Malaysia. A questionnaire survey with 562 female user of Light Railway Transit (LRT) was conducted at LRT stations along Kelana Jaya Line. Both built and non-built environment characteristics, particularly distance, safety and facilities were found as factors that are consistently associated with women walkability. With these findings, the paper highlights the criteria  which are needed to create and make betterment of transit stations not just for women but also for walkability in general.

The article studies some issues of cyber-victimology development. This is a doctrine of the crime victim committed with the help of computer technology. The purpose of the study is to identify the real situation of еру cases regarding the victimization of different sexes on the Internet (in the regional aspect). For this purpose, a poll of 584 students of all major universities of Irkutsk Oblast was conduсted. The respondents were asked to assess the dangers of using the Internet and indicate instances of individual victimization in this environment. To obtain information on gender differences of cyber-victimization, the respondents were divided in term of genders (221 men and 363 women). The study showed that, like in ordinary life, in the virtual space, men more often demonstrate risky behavior, neglect of safety rules and frivolous attitude to possible threats. Victims on the Internet are often those who have already been a victim in real life. At the same time, women are more often exposed to victimization effects (there are almost four ypes of discriminatory acts per one female user, while there are three acts per a man on the average). Types of victimization effects are also gender-specific. The largest discrepancy in the structure of victimization was recorded for hacking into an account on social networks (6 % for men against 49 % for women); installation of malicious programs on the computer (14 % against 8 %); insults (20 % against 10 %) and indecent proposals (10 % against 25 %), as well as embezzlement of confidential information (3 % against 1 %). Thus, men are more likely to become victims of the theft of passport data (payment cards), are subjected to attacks by extortionists, verbal aggression, or suffer from dishonest sellers of goods. Women with a higher frequency become victims of hacking into accounts in social networks and sexually colored cyber-stalking. Significant damage, despite a small number of such cases, was almost twice as often caused to men. The results of the study indicate that more than 90 % of the surveyed age group were victims of cybercrimes, as a rule, of several ones. According to the respondents reports, about 15 various forms of victimization effects on the Internet were identified. Among them there is hacking of a mailbox or an account, dissemination of false information on behalf of the users name, indecent offers, sexual harassment, registration of paid Internet subscriptions, false repayment of the fine, and so on.

In this work, a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) based sensing system for wheelchair pressure ulcer prevention was developed. Six FBGs were strategically positioned in a wheelchair to monitor the more prominent bone areas, namely scapulas (right (SR) and left (SL)), ischiatic zone (right (IR) and left (IL)), and heels (right (HR) and left (HL)). The sensing architecture was tested by a female user during pressure relief exercises, to verify its effectiveness on pressure monitoring. The proposed system proves to be a compact and reliable solution for wheelchair pressure ulcer prevention, making it a suitable alternative to existing conventional electronic sensors, with the advantage of being immune to electromagnetic interferences and usable in humid environments. In addition to the pressure, the breathing rate was also monitored. By combining the proposed sensing architecture with a wheelchair user detection software, it is possible to create alerts for the user to know when a new position should be adopted, in order to relieve the pressure in a specific area, thus avoiding one of the biggest problems for such patients, pressure ulcers.

Al-Qur’an is a scripture which contains the saying of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala and was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. The 30th juz is the juz that exists in the Al-Qur’an. When studying how to read Al-Qur’an well, the first thing that is learned is reading and memorizing surahs in the 30th juz. Nevertheless, there is a problem in remembering or knowing the surah name and the verse which are in the 30th juz. An android application was developed in order to recognize the surah names in the 30th juz by utilizing speech recognition technology to overcome that problem. Markov Model (Markov Chain) algorithm was implemented in this application. This algorithm will process user’s speech and compute probability of the surah name that was spoken. Speech detection testing gave result that the highest accuracy of application in recognizing the speeches was in the environment without noise with the accuracy of 100% in the most ideal distance is 50 cm for male and for female user. Based on the blackbox testing result, all functionalities of the application have functionated well. Control flow testing gave result that the value is 7 which indicates that the code is simple and well written. 87,74% respondents answered, by filling up the questionnaires, that the application is useful in order to make user knows better about the surah names in the 30th juz.

This chapter presents an investigation into the commercial WWW portal, “BEME. com,” as an example of gendered Web design targeting female users. It argues that Web designers need to be aware of processes implicated in such gendered outcomes. Thus, an analysis of the BEME.com design process is used to identify threats and opportunities in designing for female online users in order to formulate appropriate design guidelines. The chapter outlines several underlying factors that illuminate these processes, and their social, cultural, and political origins. It is argued that the prevalence and accessibility of WWW makes it a powerful vehicle of change both within design practice and in terms of gender structures more widely. It is in this context that the author seeks to contribute to the existing research by offering a feminist critique of Web design, arguing that Web designers have an opportunity and a responsibility to affect and effect changes to a gendered status quo.
