Abstract Allostatic (over)load appears to be a substantial cause of morbidity for adults. For children, new aspects emerge. They are particularly significant for their repercussions in childhood and adult life: obesity, metabolic syndrome, arterial hypertension, insulin resistance, or eating disorder. It is desirable to identify clusters relevant for certain diseases to prevent long-time and irreversible consequences of allostatic load.

Abstract Post and core devices are elements that contribute to the complete restoration of the coronary abutment, over which the final prosthetic restoration will be created. Their role is to retain the coronary portion of the restoration and to protect the remaining coronary structures. The retention function is dictated by the major indication of the method, massive coronary destruction that does not provide conditions for coronary aggregation of the restoration. Thus, this material is approaching two unique methods of making post and core devices totally metallic and/or hybrid (metal + totally ceramic component), using both classical technology, modern technologies, but also combinations of them.

Abstract This article presents the clinical case of IgA nephropathy of a patient hospitalized in order to investigate a nephritic syndrome, apparently with acute onset, discovered in the following circumstances: recurrent macroscopic hematuria, decreased urinary volume, the first episode occurring about a month ago in the context of an acute infection of upper airways, remitted under antibiotic therapy, with reappearance every 2 weeks, also accompanied by odynophagia and decreased urinary volume.

Abstract Septic cardiomyopathy remains a difficult medical problem to manage in critically ill patients. With all currently available therapeutic options, the mortality rate in these patients remains high. Our study included 29 patients diagnosed clinically with sepsis. A control group was used to compare the results. In all patients, p53 expression was assessed in cardiac tissue obtained from these patients and a statistical correlation was made with clinical data. The different expression rates of p53 do not correlate with patient’s age, having appropriate means in years, but with an increasing tendency with increasing expression (p=0.2110). The pulmonary infections are responsible for the majority of the septic state in the study group (over 55%). The difference between the infection sites is statistically significant (p<0.0001).

Abstract Defined as a tumour with increased malignancy potential in childhood, medulloblastoma was first reported in the literature by Percival Bailey and Harvey Cushing in 1925. Scientific studies over the years have shown that this type of tumour represents about 20% of all intracranial tumours encountered in childhood, their percentage decreasing with advancing age. The genetic factor plays an important part in the appearance of medulloblastoma; there are certain diseases, in the patient’s history, that can be associated with this type of tumour. Here, we can specify Turcot syndrome (an autosomal recessive disease, rarely encountered) or basal cell carcinoma syndrome. This article presents the case of a young patient (41-year-old) suffering from a cerebellar tumour formation that turned out to be, after histopathological examination, a medulloblastoma. In practice we can find several types of medulloblastoma (desmoplastic or nodular, anaplastic, classical or undifferentiated). In what follows I will try to highlight a few aspects of a classic medulloblastoma.

Abstract Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic disease of the respiratory airways due to the partially reversible obstruction of the airflow caused by an abnormal inflammatory response to toxic substances, most often to cigarette smoke.(1) COVID-19 is a mild to severe respiratory disease caused by a coronavirus from the genus Betacoronavirus.(2) Patients with COPD have a major risk of COVID-19 infection. Treating patients with COPD, chronic cor pulmonale and COVID-19 is a current challenge.

Abstract With the help of dental implants, an oral rehabilitation can be performed not only very complex, but also very complete of various types of edentulous spaces. After insertion of the dental implants, they can be subsequently prosthetically restored through a wide range of implant-supported prosthetic restorations. In this material, we tried to highlight some particular aspects from the point of view of the laboratory stages of dental technique, which intervene in the technological flow of making implant-supported prosthetic restorations from ceramic masses on Zirconia structure.

Abstract Schizophrenic patients have a life expectancy shorter than that of the general population. The multisystemic implication of the psychotic disease is evidenced by the high prevalence of somatic comorbidities associated with the illness. Patients with schizophrenia have a higher risk to develop somatic comorbidities due to their lifestyle changes, medication intake and poor medical assistance. We conducted a retrospective descriptive study in order to determine the prevalence of certain somatic conditions associated with schizophrenia as well as the characteristics of this particular group of patients.

Abstract The vascular loop refers to a trajectory abnormality of the antero-inferior cerebellar artery or its branch in the internal auditory canal. The Chavda radiological classification identifies three types of trajectory depending on the depth of penetration of the loop at the level of the internal auditory canal. The article presents the case of a 26-year-old patient admitted to the ENT department for left ear sudden sensorineural hearing loss and dizziness. The 3D Fiesta-C axial sequence MRI shows the presence of the vascular loop inside the internal auditory canal, without exceeding half of it. The hearing loss had an unfavourable evolution, without recovery after treatment with steroids and vasodilators. Sudden sensorineural hearing loss may be a consequence of the presence of the vascular loop in the internal auditory canal. The prognosis for recovery from hearing loss is poor if the loop is at least type II.

Abstract The present research attempts to assess the general health status of the studied group of patients by applying the questionnaire method. The research group has been composed of 210 subjects, from both urban and rural areas, having periodontal pathologies and disorders of the glucidic metabolism. In order to obtain information about the general health condition as well as the orodental hygiene, we have applied the questionnaire method, this being well individualized and adapted to be relevant to the present study. It was highlighted that patients with odonto-periodontal pathology and diabetes gave a more affected general health compared to those without diabetes.
