The purpose of this research is to investigate and understand how students are using computer. The activities that a student undertakes with the help of computers which might be fulfilling some academic or non academic purpose, is of great interest. It will help in understanding the limitations and potentials offered by the technology for use of computer in classroom. This paper brings out the three major kinds of activities that students undertake with computer; self learning activities, Information collection tasks and communication and group activities. The study further analyses the effect of demographics i.e. gender, age and faculty (department) of students on the activities with computer. The results show that gender has no impact on the activities of students with computer. The age impacts only the activities related to Information collection by using computer where as the faculty of student significantly impacts all the activities viz. self learning activities, Information collection tasks and communication and group activities. The findings from this research can be used in designing future e-learning initiatives and development e-learning tools

This paper introduces Learn-CIAM, a new model-based methodological approach for the design of flows and for the semi-automatic generation of tools in order to support collaborative learning tasks. The main objective of this work is to help professors by establishing a series of steps for the specification of their learning courses and the obtaining of collaborative tools to support certain learning activities (in particular, for in-group editing, searching and modeling). This paper presents a complete methodological framework, how it is supported conceptually and technologically, and an application example. So to guarantee the validity of the proposal, we also present some validation processes with potential designers and users from different profiles such as Education and Computer Science. The results seem to demonstrate a positive reception and acceptance, concluding that its application would facilitate the design of learning courses and the generation of collaborative learning tools for professionals of both profiles.

Research in mobile learning (m-learning) about technology and software and mobile learning's application to educationally related undertakings and a long-term sustainability remain unclear. This chapter untwines the tangled information surrounding m-learning strategy through examining the drivers and perceptions for m-learning in the 21st century. The data will unearth the value of employing diverse modalities of m-learning. Administrators will gain knowledge to develop and implement mobile strategy. Faculty will enhance their familiarity on the diverse types of m-learning tools and the value of employing m-learning in the classroom. Administrators and faculty members will gather knowledge that guides efforts to diminish barriers in support of a successful m-learning implementation. In addition, administrators will garner developed knowledge to analyze, gather requirements, develop, and then implement a strategic m-learning plan for long-term sustainability. Academics and practitioners will gain insight into understanding the balance of a mobile strategy amid economic value and the required controls.

The increment of concern in the use of online learning tools into English Language Teaching to adopt the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has inspired this study to examine students’ thoughts on Edmodo, as one of the online learning tools, at the English Literature department within the University of Bangka Belitung. Edmodo is used by the researchers to discuss the students’ attitude in improving their English skills. Data were collected by means of questionnaires and interview. A Likert scale questionnaire was administered and open-ended interviews were conducted to get more information from the students. Data were qualitatively and quantitatively analysed by using SPSS v.22 Software. The results reveal that the Edmodo usage is aiding students’ cooperation in small group discussions, reflecting that teaching and learning activities established on the ground of communicative teaching method were able to improve cooperation and communication, raising students’ motivation to take part and involve in various learning and also empowering them to be self-determining and be more responsible for their own learning. The scientific literacy skills of Indonesian students are still low. This condition encourages the government to improve the ability to solve problems, namely by issuing Permendikbud Number 65 of 2013 concerning the standards for the process of primary and secondary education, including the development of the domain of attitudes, knowledge, and skills. This development research aims to produce science learning tools on the topic of classification of living things in class VII of the SMP Negeri which are valid, practical and effective. Development research refers to the device development model with phases 1) Identifying problems, 2) Describing objectives, 3) Designing and developing devices, 4) Performing tests, 5) Evaluating test results, and 6) Communicating test results. Data was collected using instruments and evaluation questions. All data collected was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the learning device was declared valid. Practical learning tools are used based on the results of the lesson plan implementation and student responses. Learning tools are also effectively based on results 1) cognitive assessment 2) psychomotor, social, and spiritual assessment, 3) critical thinking assessment, 4) student activity on teaching and learning activities and, 5) teacher response to teaching and learning activities.

This study aims to 1) Produce the valid, practical, and effective of Realistic Mathematics Education based learning tools; 2) Analyzing the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving ability that are learned using Realistic Mathematics Education-based learning tools; and 3) Analyzing the achievement of students' self-efficacy who are taught using Realistic Mathematics Education-based learning tools. The subjects in this study were seventh grade students of Junior High School 1 Lubuk Pakam. Data collection instruments in this development are assessment instruments to assess the products that have been developed. In addition, students were given questionnaires to get data about students' Self-Efficacy. This research is Research and Development with the design of learning development models by Dick and Carey. The steps include: 1) Conducting preliminary research; 2) Making software design; 3) Collecting the materials; 4) Developing the contextual based interactive multimedia; 5) Product reviews and trials; and 6) the effectiveness of product test. The results showed Realistic Mathematics Education-based learning tools on students' mathematical problem solving ability increased from trial I to trial II with an average increase per indicator of 0.35%; 3.99%; 16.22% and 8.32%. The developed learning tool has fulfilled the effective criteria, namely the mastery learning of students classically in the first trial has reached a good category and in the second trial has reached a very good category; the achievement of student learning goals during learning activities meet the ideal criteria specified; student responses is positive to the components of learning tools and learning activities developed; and the allocation of ideal time usage.
