Islamic banking has become the fastest growing sector in the financial markets of the world in the past three decades, and this growth trajectory has coincided with the world’s renewed interest in the ideas of ethical banking. This raises the question regarding the actual nature of the relationship between ethical and Islamic banking systems, and the analysis in the current paper intends to provide answers to this question. The analysis has shown that the practices of Islamic banking system fit into ethical banking framework to a greater extent. It concludes that Islamic banking forms part of the broad ethical banking brand, and thus its rapid growth at the time when the ethical banking movement gathers new momentum could not be a matter of sheer coincidence. The paper also examines three business management implications of its findings. One implication is that proper name selection is an important aspect of successful branding and marketing of products or services; and the second is that we are in the age of committed consumption whereby principles, ethics and image are issues of importance in people’s choice of brands. The third implication is that market niching business strategies could bring success if properly designed and executed.

Islamic banking products (IBP) are offered not only to the Muslim community, but also to communities of other religions who are free to choose products depending on their convenience. According to a report, the percentage of non-Muslim communities choosing IBP in Malaysia has been steadily increasing and is expected to continue to increase in future. The Dual Banking System is one of the initiatives that has been created in conventional banks as an extra facility for the communities to engage with IBP easily without going to Islamic Banks. This paper aims to study the factors that drive non-Muslim customers to accept IBP. Specifically, this paper examines the relationship between four factors: knowledge, understanding, perception and the level of awareness among non-Muslim customers regarding their acceptance on IBP in the Dual Banking System. About 140 non-Muslim IBP customers of the Dual Banking System around Changlun, Jitra and Alor Setar were selected based on convenience and were randomly picked as respondents of this study. Some data were also collected through interviews with the bank personnel and the bank’s customers besides the self-administered questionnaire survey. Employing the SPSS approach, the hypotheses of the study were tested. The findings showed that there are significance relationships between customer’s knowledge, understanding, positive perception, and the level of awareness perceived among non-Muslim customers and their acceptance of IBP.   Keywords: Islamic banking products; non-Muslim customers; acceptance.

Financial industries are rapidly accepting the Islamic banking system. Using theory of reasoned action (TRA) model the study investigates the three factors including attitude, religiosity and subjective norms in measuring the intention of customers to adopt Islamic banking products along with moderating role of pricing. The sample of 220 banks consumers from two cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are gathered using convenient sampling. Regression results suggest that all three factors influence the intention of customers in buying Islamic banking products. Moreover, pricing moderates the relationship in developing intention of customer to adopt Islamic personal financing in the context of religiosity. The finding of the study identifies that Islamic bankers should adopt pricing policy based upon fair practices of Shariah. In addition awareness to people about Islamic products through marketing is essential in clearing their misconceptions towards investment in Islamic products.

The objective of my research is to observe at the relationship between receivables, profit-sharing financing to total assets at BNI Syariah Bank from 2016-2020. Total assets in BNI Syariah frequently endure fluctuations in total assets each year, whether receivables and profit-sharing financing have a significant effect on variable Y (total assets). The method that researchers run is a quantitative method using the help of SPPS software, while the variables that influence are the dependent variable receivables and profit-sharing financing. The funding channelled by BNI Syariah is essentially the same as other Islamic banks in Indonesia. Because it still uses an agreement that has long practised in the Islamic banking system, such as the Murabaha contract for the provision of receivables, Mudharabah and Musyarakah contracts for profit sharing between customers and banks. The relationship between Receivables and Revenue Sharing Financing has a positive correlation between variables. This research can also provide some connection between Murabahah and Musharaka which are one of the main product sources of BNI Syariah bank. The originality of the research that the researcher makes is his own, it is not copied and that the researcher's research idea is new and can add new knowledge.

This research aims to explain the direction of policy regarding supervision of Islamic banking in the banking system in Indonesia. The method used in this research is normative legal research using the statutory approach. The results of this research explain that the policy regarding supervision of Islamic banking in the national banking system in Indonesia is headed toward an independent direction. In Law Number 7 of 1992 and Law Number 10 of 1998, it is stated that supervision of Islamic banking is done by Bank Indonesia as the central bank. Based on Law Number 21 of 2008, supervision of Islamic banking is strengthened by not only being supervised by Bank Indonesia, but also by the National Sharia Council of the Majelis Ulama Indonesia by placing Sharia Supervisory Councils in each Islamic bank. After the ratification of Law Number 21 of 2011, supervision of Islamic banking moved from Bank Indonesia to an independent institution called the Financial Services Authority.

The Nigerian banking reform precipitated the adoption of Islamic banking and finance in 2009 as additional door to banking mechanism in the country. However, the implementation of the Islamic banking or non-interest banking has generated a lot of debate, specifically because its foundations are based on Islamic religion. This paper briefly reviews the concept, the challenges and prospects of Islamic banking in Nigeria. The paper relies on the secondary sources by reviewing and analysing various works on the subject. A reflection on the size of its population and the developmental opportunities indicates that Nigeria has the prospect of becoming the hub centre of Islamic finance in Africa. Yet there are numerous challenges to the development of the Islamic banking system in the country, including misrepresentation of the system, lack of linkages and investment institutions, lack of adequate knowledge, as well as shroud business ethos and corruption, which is endemic in the country. The paper recommends the need for greater public awareness about Islamic banking and creation of enabling environment (i.e. the legal, accounting and taxation systems) for the working of Islamic financial system.

Abstract Purification of non-halal income (NHI) is the process of deducting non-halal or tainted income deemed unacceptable by Shairaah from the total income generated in Islamic banks. It is undeniable that Shariaah non-compliance events still occur in Islamic banking system considering the fact that Islamic banks have not been able to fully comply with the requirements of Shariaah in their transactions, operations and financial activities. The realization of Shariaah non-compliance events in Islamic banks in some situations involve a financial impact which leads to NHI. All NHI identified must be purified since Islam does not allow any non-halal income to be held, kept and utilized for their own benefits. This paper will give a new insight on purification of NHI by first delineating the concept of mal haram in Islam as well as the Shariaah non-compliant events realized in the banks, with special reference to cases involving Islamic banks in Malaysia. Keywords: Islamic banking, non-halal income, purification, charity, waqf.
