This article analyzes the main problems of urban public spaces, because today public spaces can determine the future of cities. It is noted that parks are multifunctional public spaces in the urban environment, as they are an important element of the citywide system of landscaping and recreation, perform health, cultural, educational, aesthetic and environmental functions. The article notes that the need for easily accessible and well-maintained urban parks remains, however, the state of parks in many cities of Russia remains unsatisfactory, requiring reconstruction. A brief historical background of the Park of Culture and Rest of the Soviet period in Omsk is expounded, the analysis of the existing territory of the Park is presented. It is revealed that the Park, being the largest public space in Omsk, does not meet the requirements of modern urbanism, although it represents a great potential for designing the space for the purpose of recreation of citizens. Performed functional zoning scheme of the territory of the Park in question, where its division into functional areas destined for active recreational users of the Park is presented, considered the interests of senior citizens, people with limited mobility, etc. Reconstruction of Parks of the Soviet period can provide the city with additional recreational opportunities, as well as increase its tourist attractiveness.

Currently, the problem of early rehabilitation of stroke patients is important, since in terms of the prevalence of cerebrovascular diseases and disability after suffering a stroke, Russia is one of the first places in the world. The complex of medical rehabilitation of such patients should provide for the early and most complete restoration of all body functions, patient education for lost skills, re-socialization of the patient and improvement of the quality of life. One of the factors contributing to a significant reduction in the quality of life after a stroke is the development of chronic constipation. The article reflects the modern methods of correction of chronic constipation in patients with limited mobility.

The article describes the experience of clinical testing of the personal telemedicine system (PTS) ‘Obereg’ for remote monitoring of patients with the consequences of severe conditions in leading Russian clinics. It is shown that such patients are at high risk of complications when transferred from the ICU to a normal ward with limited medical supervision and lack of instrumentation. The use of remote monitoring using the personal telemedicine system ‘Obereg’ allows to solve this problem. The results of the use of PTS ‘Obereg’ for the organization of monitoring in the home patronage of patients with limited mobility are presented. It is indicated that such devices should be used in an emergency situation similar to a coronavirus pandemic to monitor patients who are in infectious boxes and on home treatment.

Tropism, or asymmetry, of facet joints in the cervical spine has been found to be related to degenerative changes of the joints and discs. Clinicians often assume that differences in segmental mobility are related to tropism. The aims of this study were to determine the relationship between asymmetry of facet joints in the sub-axial cervical spine and (1) segmental mobility and (2) spinal levels perceived by therapists to have limited mobility. Eighteen participants with idiopathic neck pain had MRIs of their cervical spine in neutral and at the end of active rotation. Angular movement and translational movement of each motion segment was calculated from 3D segmentations of the vertebrae. A plane was fitted to the facet on each side. Tropism was considered to be the difference in the orientation of the facet planes and ranged from 1 to 30° with a median of 7.7°. No relationships were found between the extent of tropism and either segmental movement or locations deemed to be symptomatic. Tropism in the sub-axial cervical spine does not appear to be related to segmental mobility in rotation or to levels deemed to be symptomatic.

Abstract With further climate change still expected, it is predicted to increase the frequency with plants will be water stressed, which subsequently influences phytophagous insects, particularly Lepidoptera with limited mobility of larvae. Previous studies have indicated that oviposition preference and offspring performance of Lepidoptera insects are sensitive to drought separately. However, the integration of their two properties is not always seen. Here, we evaluated changes in oviposition selection and offspring fitness of a Lepidoptera insect under three water-stressed treatments using a model agroecosystem consisting of maize Zea mays, and Asian corn borer Ostrinia furnacalis. Results found that female O. furnacalis preferred to laying their eggs on well-watered maize, and then their offspring tended to survive better, attained bigger larvae mass, and developed more pupae and adults on the preferred maize. Oviposition selection of O. furnacalis positively correlated with height and leaf traits of maize, and offspring fitness positively related with water content and phytochemical traits of hosts. Overall, these results suggest that oviposition choice performed by O. furnacalis reflects the maximization of offspring fitness, supporting preference–performance hypothesis. This finding further highlights that the importance of simultaneous evaluation of performance and performance for water driving forces should be involved, in order to accurately predict population size of O. furnacalis under altered precipitation pattern.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usability of telerehabilitation as a method of teaching self-management for chronic swelling of the lower limbs in persons with limited mobility. An in-home telerehabilitation self-management education protocol for chronic swelling of the lower limbs, termed Telerehabilitation to Empower You to Manage and Prevent Swelling (TR-PUMPS), was implemented using the Versatile and Integrated System for Telerehabilitation (VISYTER) software platform. Participants (n=11) were 36-79 years old, predominately female (72.7%) and diagnosed with a variety of health conditions. Participants’ perceived usability scores of the remote delivery of TR-PUMPS was high with a median score of 6.67 (range 4.90 - 7.00) on a Likert scale: 1= disagree to 7= agree. There was no correlation between participants’ familiarity with information technology and their perception of telerehabilitation usability. These results support telerehabilitation as a viable method for teaching a home-based, self-management

Abstract Purpose On a global scale the main focus of traumatological therapy lies in the treatment of unintentional injuries or victims of violence. People of all ages and through all economic groups can be affected. Due to demographic change in Western industrial countries, however, this focus increasingly shifts towards fragility fractures. In Europe osteoporosis is the most common bone disease in advanced age. Secondary prevention programs like the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) are becoming increasingly prevalent, especially in Anglo-American health care systems. In German orthopedic and trauma wards and hospitals, however, the FLS is still relatively uncommon. This article will examine the question whether secondary prevention programs like FLS need to be established in the German health care system. This study aims at finding out, whether in the area of a medium sized German city there is a difference regarding the initiation of osteoporosis diagnosis and therapy between the regular aftercare by the general practitioner or the orthopedic surgeon and the aftercare by a specialist trained in osteology (Osteologe). Materials and Methods For the open, randomized prospective study 70 patients with low energy fractures were recruited, who were older than 60 years and have been treated in our department. Results 58 out of 70 patients have completed the study, which amounts to a follow-up of 82.9%. Limited mobility and a high degree of organizational effort were the main reasons for early termination of the study. While in the group with regular aftercare, only 2 out of 29 patients received a specific osteoporosis treatment, in group who were directly transferred to a specialist trained in osteology 17 out of 29 patients received specific treatment. After re-evaluation of group with regular aftercare in 21 out of 29 cases a specific osteoporosis treatment was recommended. Conclusions It could be established that there is a significant diagnosis and treatment gap regarding the aftercare of patients with fractures caused by osteoporosis between general practitioners or orthopedic surgeons on the one hand and the specialists trained in osteology on the other hand. To improve the aftercare of fracture patients, cross sectoral networks with a background in geriatrics and orthopedic-trauma surgery like a FLS need to be established in the German healthcare system.

Despite overall societal progress in reducing adverse impacts of heat and cold, incarcerated populations remain highly vulnerable to environmental stressors. Incarcerated populations experience a combination of risk factors related to their physical health and well-being that increase their thermal vulnerability: social isolation, disproportionate mental health issues, comorbidities, limited mobility, and a reliance on external factors to provide a safe, healthy environment. In carceral spaces, thermal exposure agitates these already complex situations, shaping a confluence of various economic, political, and ecological intersectionalities. This synthesis contextualizes the ongoing scholarship on climate change, thermal exposure, the built environment, and public policy, to examine thermal inequities experienced by incarcerated populations. In examining this context, we connect our work to carceral geographies, the geographies of violence, racial capitalism, and abolition ecologies. Ultimately, the review highlights how physical geographers may directly converse with critical geographers, promote equity and environmental justice, and work to reduce adverse impacts of extreme temperature events.

The air permeability of composite materials obtained by impregnating a non-woven needle-punched cloth with latex was investigated. The permeability of composite materials with different rubber content was estimated by the coefficient of air permeability at a pressure drop of 49 and 100 Pa. The dependence of the air permeability coefficient on the degree of impregnation of the fabric showed that at 15 – 20 % of the rubber content, the maximum air permeability coefficient is observed, and when the degree of impregnation increases, the air permeability coefficient decreases. The process of forming a porous structure of composite materials and its influence on air transport is considered. The increase of the coefficient of permeability is explained by the fixation of the fibers of the surface layer with limited mobility under the action of air flow, and a reduction in the coefficient of air permeability by reducing pore space and an increase in fiber matrix composite materials in the process of sushi-Ki-impregnated material. The air permeability of composite materials is determined by the ratio between the processes of increasing the volume of the fibrous matrix and reducing porosity when filling the space between the portages with rubber particles. A model is proposed for calculating the coefficient of breathability of composite materials of known density.
