The world, which includes all living things from the first human to the present, is based on the process of change and transformation with all its dimensions. It can be stated that this process of change and transformation affects the lives of many living things on earth, as well as remarkable effects on human life. In particular, the digital world, which is one of the important results of technology-based development, can be said to be effective in shaping human life cognitively, psychomotorically and emotionally. This shaping process takes place in educational institutions with the achievements transferred through various fields of study and disciplines. This study, in which the effect of social studies courses on the formation and development process of the digital self-concept, which is based on the cognitive effects of digitalization, was evaluated in line with the perceptions of teachers in Turkey, was designed according to the phenomenological approach, one of the qualitative research methods. The research data were analyzed with the descriptive analysis technique and thematic codes were created based on the findings. A semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers was used to collect data. The research data, the answers to the questions in the interview form, were collected through online interviews with social studies teachers due to the Covid-19 epidemic in the world and in Turkey. In the study supported by the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit of İnönü University with the Normal Research Project coded SBA-2019-1755, the data obtained were analyzed and the findings were presented in tables and figures. Considering the findings of the study, it can be said that the social studies teachers who make up the study group have different and remarkable perceptions about the effects of social studies lessons on digital self-creation.

The purpose of the study was to examine the impacts of COVID-19 and its implications for teaching Social Studies as integrated curriculum. This was done through review of a number of articles relating to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as Social Studies as integrated discipline. Historical background and the effects of the pandemic specifically in Ghana have been outlined in the paper. Being integrated curriculum, the author argues that the pandemic offers unique opportunity for Social Studies educators and teachers of the subject to demonstrate their understanding of the concept of integration with respect to the impacts of the pandemic. There is no denying the fact that the pandemic had tremendous impacts on all facets of human life including economic, social, psychological, political, religious, and health. Based on the literature review, it is recommended that educators and teachers in the field of Social Studies should draw connection between the COVID-19 and the Social Science subjects. In so doing, it would promote wholistic understanding of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The study aimed to determine the perceptions of preservice social studies teachers about communication; metaphors were employed to determine communication skill perceptions. In the study, a qualitative research method known as phenomenology design was employed. The study group included 127 preservice social studies teachers in various classes. In the study, metaphoric perceptions form was used to collect the data. The collected data were analysed with content analysis. The study findings demonstrated that preservice social studies teachers produced 36 valid metaphors in 7 different conceptual categories (a requirement, a nonverbal code system, a mutual process, a positive connotation, a unifying element, a dynamic phenomenon, communication as a method to reflect ideas). The total metaphor count and metaphor frequencies revealed that the highest number of metaphors was produced in the communications as a requirement category. The most repeated metaphor in this category was the requirement of water to sustain life. In this category, concepts such as blood, breathing, and oxygen, which are important for human life, were expressed as metaphors that represented communication skills.

Low student motivation. The study aims to describe the students' motivation at gradeVII C SMPN 1 Marabahan,  on the subject of human life and the environment understanding and  the understanding of human social life through the integration of local advantages by model of inquiry.The research method used in the study of the class action is a method of qualitative analysis, which emphasizes on efforts to depictions of things that are associated with increased motivation through the integration of local excellence in the inquiry model of an integrated social studies. The  qualitative analysis of the researchers focused on extracting data according to the material so that it can be seen the problem and its solution on the activity of reflection. The research process began in September through December 2011, the number of samples of students are 36 in grade VII C.  The results showed that: (1) Motivation to learn at grade VII C SMPN 1 Marabahan in integrated social studies through the integration of local advantages be increased, (2) Motivation to learn at grade VII C  SMPN 1 Marabahan  for use in the inquiry learning model of the integrated social studies shows increased (3) Implementation of the Model inquiry can enhance students' motivation  at grade VIIC  SMPN 1 Marabahan. Researchers recommend that teachers should be social studies using the inquiry  model and integrating local adventages to a suitable material.Keywords: motivation, integration of local advantages, model inquiry, Social studies

Education is a core thing in the development of human life, as well as social studies education. In the learning process there are directions for achieving learning or commonly referred to as curriculum. In social studies learning, it is expected to be able to form superior, civilized and characterized human resources. Become an educated human resource with broad knowledge. With the curriculum 13, it is certainly able to make it easier for teachers to prepare varied learning and also increase student motivation. An integrated curriculum is certainly able to improve the desired social studies learning process. The results of this study aim to be able to balance the professionalism of teachers and students in achieving social studies learning based on Curriculum 13. With the integrity of an integrated curriculum, it certainly gives results that are able to increase human resources with high social spirit, excellence and character. Among scientists, works to invent a comprehensive religious concept for all human beings are still underway. In a literal sense, there are various constraints in formulating the concept of religion in order to be completely accepted by all circles. Some of which are obstacles related to the sacredness of religious meanings and constraints due to the inner feelings of the adherents. In accordance with religion's function, scientists agree that religion has a key role in constructively managing human life. By employing the literature study method, this article, therefore, seeks to explain the problems faced by scientists in the field of social studies in formulating the concept of religion, then present a solution in order to reinterpret the concept of religion by referring to the term “al-Islam” in the Quran which generates some elements applied as a foundation or the basis in explaining the concept of religion comprehensively. These attempts are considered to integrate between science and religion simultaneously and to shatter their domain of dichotomy. AbstrakUpaya perumusan konsep agama yang komprehensif bagi seluruh ummat manusia masih terus berlangsung dikalangan para ilmuwan. Secara terminologis, terdapat beragam kendala dalam merumuskan konsep agama agar dapat diterima sepenuhnya oleh seluruh kalangan. Beberapa diantaranya adalah kendala yang berhubungan dengan kesakralan makna agama dan kendala yang menyangkut perasaan bathiniyah dari para penganutnya. Sementara terkait fungsi dari agama, para ilmuwan sepakat jika agama memiliki peran penting dalam menata kehidupan manusia secara positif. Artikel ini, melalui metode kajian studi kepustakaan, berupaya untuk memaparkan problematika para ilmuwan sosial dalam merumuskan konsep agama, kemudian menawarkan solusi untuk dapat melakukan reinterpretasi konsep agama dengan merujuk pada term al-Islam dalam Alquran guna menghasilkan beberapa unsur yang dapat dijadikan fondasi atau landasan dasar dalam menjelaskan konsep agama secara komprehensif. Upaya tersebut sekaligus dapat mengintegrasikan antara sains dan agama sehingga menghilangkan domain dikotomis antara  keduanya

Disasters are known as calamities affecting all humanity on earth and have adverse impacts on human life in various ways. Although many natural disasters cannot be prevented, their adverse effects on people can be mitigated. It is important to raise the awareness of people about disasters, whether they are caused by human effects or nature. Disaster education plays an important role in raising this awareness. The study group of the study consists of 172 teacher candidates receiving education in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of the department of social studies teaching in a state university located in the Central Anatolia region. In order to measure the disaster awareness of the teacher candidates, the scanning pattern included under the quantitative study method has been used. T-test and ANOVA has been utilized in the analysis of disaster awareness perception scale. As the result of the analysis; in the sub-dimensions of disaster education awareness, pre-disaster awareness, false disaster awareness and post-disaster awareness, the teacher candidates have been evaluated according to their gender, their general academic average scores, their participation in a conference or a panel and according to their homework, presentation or project preparing status. Based on the results of the research, in order for the teacher candidates to gain the right disaster awareness, it has been recommended that they should be provided with disaster awareness courses in their undergraduate curriculum, that they should take part in various research projects, and attend various symposiums, congresses related with disaster awareness.
