Due to the wide range of application for belt conveyors, engineers look for many different combinations of mechanical properties of conveyor and transmission belts. It can be made by creating multilayer or fibre reinforced composite materials from base thermoplastic or thermosetting polymers. In order to gain high strength with proper elasticity and friction coefficient, the core of the composite conveyor belt is made of polyamide film core, which can be combined with various types of polymer fabrics, films or even rubbers. In this paper authors show the complex model of multilayer composite belt with the polyamide core, which can be used in simulation analyses. The following model was derived based on the experimental research, which consisted of tensile, compression and shearing tests. In order to achieve the most accurate model, proper simulations in ABAQUS were made and then the results were compared with empirical mechanical characteristics of a conveyor belt. The main goal of this research is to fully describe the perforation process of conveyor and transmission belts for vacuum belt conveyors. The following model will help to develop design briefs for machines used for mechanical perforation.

Tight competition characterizing automotive industries in the last decades has determined a strong research effort aimed to improve utilized processes and materials in sheet stamping. As far as the latter are regarded light weight alloys, high strength steels and tailored blanks have been increasingly utilized with the aim to reduce parts weight and fuel consumptions. In the paper the mechanical properties and formability of tailored welded blanks made of a precipitation hardenable aluminum alloy but with different sheet thicknesses, have been investigated: both laser welding and friction stir welding have been developed to obtain the tailored blanks. For both welding operations a wide range of the thickness ratios has been considered. The formability of the obtained blanks has been characterized through tensile tests and cup deep drawing tests, in order to show the formability in dependency of the stress condition; what is more mechanical and metallurgical investigations have been made on the welded joints.

Rapid expansion of technologies poses higher requirements to structural materials and items made of them. Conventional materials are being replaced by composite materials (composites). Different additives enhancing the properties of initial materials are used as reinforcement fibers of composites. Utilization of micro-and nanosize particles for production of present-day materials is paid much attention to. Whiskers are among such materials. These crystals have high strength, high chemical and temperature resistance. But for rational utilization of whickers of different chemical composition in composite materials one should know their physical and chemical properties. Objectives of the paper: to study physical and chemical properties of whiskers in different compounds, their composition and structure; to prove experimentally the feasibility of utilizing whiskers as a reinforcement fiber of composite materials. Object of study: specimens of whiskers of silicon nitride (Si3N4), aluminum oxide (Al2O3), aluminum nitride (AlN), and mullite (Al6Si2O13). Methods of investigation: thermal study of specimens, study of mechanical properties and chemical strength, and IR-spectroscopy. Results of study: specimens of whiskers have been studied and their mechanical properties have been tabulated for comparison. Extensive thermal investigation was followed by deduction of regularities and identification of chemical properties of whiskers. IR-spectra of whiskers have been studied and conclusions on molecular composition and on presence of impurities in some whiskers have been made.

The conveyer belt is a major component of the conveyor , whose cost accounted for half of the of the entire cost of the conveyor. The loss of the conveyor is mainly due to the use of friction and wear generated in the process, so study on the friction characteristics is very meaningful. The friction and wear of the conveyor is one of the factors affecting their life. Therefore, conducting applied research on belt conveyors and mechanical analysis becomes increasingly important. In this paper, some qualitative research on the mechanical properties is carried out, starting from the application of the conveyor belt.

The using of polymer matrix composite materials has found a wide range of applications in our modern day world. This is as a result of the combination of characteristics which are achieved by these materials. This work aimed on the preparation of polymeric-matrix composite material in order to improve its mechanical properties by using more than one type of reinforcement with different volume fraction values. This composite materials prepared from unsaturated polyester resin as a matrix, reinforced by E-glass fiber with (5%) volume fraction and graphite particles of (1%, 3%, 5%,7% and 10%) volume fractions, and study  the effect of these fillers on the  properties of polyester. The reinforcing by different types of materials with different values of volume fraction led to improve the mechanical properties (i.e. tensile strength, modules of elasticity and hardness) significantly, because of the contribution of both graphite particles and glass fibers to bear the applied load, also due to the high hardness graphite particles

This paper presents the microstructure and the mechanical properties of FeNiCrCuAl high entropy alloys. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the annealed FeNiCrCuAl high entropy alloys were investigated using scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. High entropy alloys have been known as a new type of materials and have been defined as having five or more principal elements, each one having a concentration between 5 and 35 at.%. Previous researches show that HEAs can be processed to form simple solid solution structures instead of intermetallics and other complicated compounds. This phenomenon is commonly attributed to the high configurational entropy in the solid solution state of HEAs. Furthermore, HEAs have also exhibited interesting properties such as high hardness and high strength, good thermal stability outstanding wear and oxidation resistance which offer great potential for engineering applications. The HEA systems explored in the past decade show that metallic elements are the most commonly used, e.g. Al, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu,Ti, etc. A wide range of HEAs exhibit high hardness, high strength, distinctive electrical and magnetic properties, high-temperature softening resistance, as well as favorable combination of compression strength and ductility. This combination of properties and the particular structures of HEAs are attractive for a number of potential engineering applications.

1Cr17/9Cr18MoV multi-layer composite armor plate with uniform thickness of each layer was fabricated by composite casting, hot forging and hot rolling. Microstructure was observed and mechanical properties of multilayer composite plate after heat treatment were carried out. The results show that the microstructure of each layer is uniform and the interface combination between 1Cr17 and 9Cr18MoV is good at the condition of 950°C/30min, oil cooling + 200°C/30min tempering. The bending strength of multilayer composite plate is greater than each single material and the plasticity is between two materials. Tensile fracture mode of 1Cr17 steel with good plasticity is mainly of ductile dimple fracture and that of 9Cr18MoV steel with high strength is mainly cleavage fracture. The tensile strength of multilayer composite plate is 1410MPa and the hardness of 9Cr18MoV and 1Cr17 is 605.5HV and 566.3HV respectively, the mechanical properties has met the qualification of armor.

The main component of Natural rubber (NR) is cis-1,4-poly isoprene a renewable natural elastomer produced from the latex of rubber tree. NR has many excellent properties, such as outstanding resilience, high strength, tear resistance and good process ability. Therefore, it is compounded with various chemicals and fillers like carbon black, clay, silica in suitable high concentration to achieve wide range properties having many applications in industries. However, as many synthetic polymers, NR needs a lot of time to be degraded and using carbon black as a filler could cause pollution and gives to the rubber a black color that has a significantly negative effect on products. The aim of the present work was to study the mechanical properties of bio based materials from thermoplastic starch (TPS), natural rubber and epoxidized natural rubber (ENR) used as a compatibilizer. The TPS/NR material was prepared by blending the plasticized starch with natural rubber latex and ENR in a Haake Rheomix 600 mixer. The morphology, mechanical and thermal properties of the material was investigated. The results show that the crystal structure of blend disappeared and thermal stability of material was not improved. Material had the best mechanical properties at TPS/NR ratio 30/70 with ENR content 15%wt.
