Based on the results of the open statistical data analysis, the paper justifies indicators for an integral assessment of the economic potential of Ukraine by types of economic activity of business entities. Since the potential is implemented in the future, the paper uses trend analysis to determine the prospective values of previously selected indicators. At the same time, some relative indicators were decomposed into absolute elements (as each of the absolute indicators has its own dynamics of changes). Stepwise, logarithmic, exponential, and other dependencies are used to predict indicators. In addition, the prospective values of indicators were normalized in order to get the correct calculation of the integral indicator in the paper. The integral indicator of the economic potential of Ukraine for each type of economic activity of business entities for the year 2022 is calculated as a result of generalizing the normalized values of prospective indicators. The calculation results can be used to distribute budget funds that are planned to be used for ensuring the long-term development of the Ukrainian economy sectors.

The article proves that the determining component of the study of economic activity of audit firms as an object of economic analysis is the formation of the properties of its components. It is analyzed that the economic activity of audit firms differs significantly from other activities in the field of consulting, because it is the audit firm that acts in two manifestations: as a subject of independent financial control and as a subject of economic activity. It is characterized that in this context the issues of formation of resources for auditing activities are actualized; efficient use of resources in the context of managing the economic potential of the audit firm; dependence of the efficiency of economic activity of the audit firm on the client and reputational capital; the process of implementation of audit and related services by the audit firm and the effectiveness of audit firms. It is proved that the economic activity of an audit firm as well as any enterprise of another branch of the national economy, including consulting, requires the involvement of appropriate economic resources. It is outlined that the formation of these resources occurs both from own sources – equity and profits aimed at increasing the components of equity, and from borrowed sources long-term and short-term liabilities of audit firms. It is proved that depending on the combination of components of economic resources of audit firms and sources of their formation determine the main directions of economic analysis, namely the economic potential, the components of which are: financial potential, human resources, material potential. It is outlined that such types of capital as client and reputational capital depend on the efficiency of using the resource potentials of the audit firm. The place of resources of the audit company in the general classification of economic resources of the enterprise is defined.

The most relevant aspects of achieving economic security of enterprises are determined in the article. The assessment of the level of economic security was conducted using the method of analysis of the functioning environment. The focal points of the assessment are interests, threats and resources. The possibility of economic security strengthening of business entities is traced using analysis of economic activity of mechanical engineering companies of Vinnytsia region of Ukraine as an example. At the same time, businesses that cannot cover the cost of resources with the income from goods sale in the current year were singled out. Businesses entities positioning in the functioning environment in the context of economic security motivation (interests - increase in enterprise income, threats - growth of current and long-term liabilities, resources - use of fixed assets and employees), allowed to find opportunities to increase the efficiency of enterprises that to the greater extent are related to the manufacturing of machinery and equipment.

The formation of scientifically sound strategies of enterprises should be based on the results of the assessment of their economic development potential. This assessment makes it possible to identify the most promising ways for enterprises for their further development and find out reserves for improving the economic efficiency and the growth of the financial results of the economic activity of these enterprises. In this regard, the purpose of the study was to develop theoretical principles and substantiate the sequence of assessing the potential of the economic development of enterprises. It is shown that the potential of the economic development of business entities is a complex system that contains a number of interconnected subsystems. However, the relationships between these subsystems are largely hierarchical. Under such conditions, the assessment of the magnitude of the potential of economic development of enterprises requires the application of a systematic approach based on the study of the mechanism of the formation of the strategic economic potential of economic entities. A number of postulates were established on which the methods of assessing the potential of economic development of enterprises should be based. In particular, it is noted that the functional properties of the enterprise are determined by the functional properties of its subsystems and individual resources, as well as the functional properties of the environment, which allow the company to implement its respective functional properties. The functional properties of subsystems and individual resources of the enterprise are determined by its internal (constructive) properties. Accordingly, ensuring the economic development of the enterprise in some of its functional properties requires changes in certain internal properties of the enterprise. A generalized model for assessing the potential of the economic development of the enterprise has been developed. It provides for the establishment of relationships between the properties of the enterprise, its components, ongoing processes, and the external environment. The sequence of estimating the potential of the economic development of the enterprise by its certain functional property is presented. The general sequence of the process of assessing the potential of the economic development of the enterprise is formed.

This chapter describes an initial region-based formalisation of some concepts about neuroanatomy into ontological and epistemic terms, as part of a major effort into the formalisation of the knowledge contained in neuroimages of patients with schizophrenia. The long-term goal is to build an ontology that is a formal basis for the expectations generated from statistical data analysis. To this end, the chapter presents an example of applying this ontology to interpret the results of image-based analysis of neuroimages from schizophrenic patients.

The amount of money that could potentially be saved by households by reducing unnecessary consumption and directed to sustainable investments without compromising the social needs in Finnish households was studied. The study was conducted by using statistical data and by creating short- and long-term scenarios to assess potential savings resulting from changes in household behaviour. According to the results, a Finnish household could save and subsequently allocate an average of €3400–€15,000 annually to invest in sustainability. The greatest potential for preventing unnecessary consumption is related to (1) food and drinks, and (2) transportation. In the long-term scenario, reducing expenditures in the category of housing also provides opportunities for high savings. A significant share of the saving created by sustainable patterns of consumption can be directed for example to investments in renewable energy.

A methodology has been developed for assessing the region’s human capital based on the calculation of an integral indicator. The modern economic development trends, expressed in the activation of digitalization processes, are considered. The place of the Voronezh region in terms of digitalization among other regions is determined. The region occupies a leading position among the studied areas, but at the same time, further development in the direction of digitalization is necessary, since the region has the resources for higher rates of digitalization in the long term. Under the assumption that human capital plays a key role in the process of transformation of the modern economic system of the region, the authors propose a system of indicators for an integrated assessment of the human capital of the region. Indicators are united in enlarged groups (demographic, labor and educational, research, sociocultural). To calculate the integral indicator of the state of human capital in the region, the coefficients of significance of each of its components are determined. Significance factors were established using an expert method. Next, we calculated the weighted indicators for assessing the components of the region's human capital and the integral indicator. The calculations made it possible to determine the key components in the structure of indicators of human capital: labor and educational, which made it possible to orient the directions of development of human capital in the regions. Particular attention is paid to the development of the innovation sphere, which cannot be realized without the development of human capital. The results of empirical studies have confirmed the possibility of practical use of the developed methodology for assessing the human capital of the region, allowing to assess its condition and identify key areas of development.
