Abstract Cendrawasih Bay and the Pacific Ocean are known as potential fishing areas and as fish spawning locations in Fisheries Management Area 717. Larval dispersal in the waters is strongly influenced by oceanographic parameters. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between oceanographic parameters and fish larval dispersal in FMA 717. This research was conducted using KR Bawal Putih III in November 2019. A number of 42 stations were determined for observation. Environmental parameters included temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll-a, turbidity, and photosynthetic active radiation (PAR), were measured using SBE 19 plus V2 CTD while pelagic fish larvae were collected using a bonggo net. Analysis of the correlation of oceanographic parameters with pelagic fish larvae abundance and spatial distribution was calculated using PCA (Principal Component Analysis) statistical analysis. The results showed that the pelagic fish larvae was influenced by temperature, salinity, PAR, chlorophyll-a, turbidity, and DO. Temperature and salinity have a direct interaction to the abundance of pelagic fish larvae.

The density and distribution of fish resources in the waters are much influenced by variations in oceanographic conditions. To examine interaction between oceanographic condition with spatial distribution of pelagic fish in Java Sea, hydroacoustic research was done using KR. Bawal Putih III on October 17 to November 11, 2017. Acoustic data acquisition used Simrad ME multi beam (70-120 kHz) with the position of the transducer installed on the keel. Environmental parameters (oxygen, pH, salinity, chlorophyll, temperature) were measured using the SBE 19 plus V2 CTD and physical oceanographic parameter (current direction and speed) using the ARM current meter, both are lowered vertically according to depth at 48 station. Correlation analysis between oceanographic parameter with fish abundance and spatial distribution using PCA (Principal Component Analysis) statistical analysis. Results show that density of pelagic fish was influenced respectively by salinity, oxygen, chlorophyll, pH and temperature. This sequence based on distance and proximity to the line formed by environmental factors towards the center of correlation. The environmental components that have a direct interaction with the abundance of pelagic fish are salinity and oxygen. These two factors are the main factors in osmoregulation and energy formation for fish bodies, while the other four environmental factors (chlorophyll pH, temperature and current velocity) correlate partially to the presence of pelagic fish.

The fishing ground is identical and closely related to chlorophyll-a abundance in the waters, associated with its fisheries potential. This research has been conducted to determine the concentration and distribution of chlorophyll-a in the seas, especially in the Fisheries Management Area (FMA) 712 encompassing the Java Sea. The analysis used monthly time-series data collected from the satellite imagery over the last 11 years, taken through the ERDDAP website. The mean concentration of chlorophyll-a in the study area was 1.13 mg/l in June 2013. Based on 11 years of data processing, it can be concluded that the highest concentration of chlorophyll-a occurred in the west monsoon season from November to April, where increased rainfall caused the nutrient wash from terrestrial to the open waters. The lowest chlorophyll-a concentration happened in the east monsoon season from April to November, where the dry season arrived. The existence of pelagic fishes in FMA 712, such as Sardinella Lemurs and Sardinella Fimbriata, in waters highly influenced by the chlorophyll-a concentration, while Thunnus Sp. and Exocoetidae Sp. not affected significantly to the existence of chlorophyll-a concentration and its distribution.

Mackerel fish that classified pelagic fish and an export commodity in Indonesia. Distribution of mackerel fish are foundn all Indonesian waters, one of them in the Bali Strait. Distribution of mackerel fish influenced by oceanographic condition such as sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a concentration. SST and chlorophyll-a concentrations are environmental parameters that can provide information on fishing ground. The purpose of this research is explained the temporal fluctuation and relationship between SST and chlorophyll-a concentration with mackerel fish had been catch in Bali Strait waters during 2011-2016. Data were analyzed using simple correlation analysis with 95% confidence interval. Temporally, the highest average SST occurred during the transition season I (March-May) and the lowest in the east season (June-August). The highest average chlorophyll-a concentration occurs in the east season and the lowest in the west season (December-February). The highest catch of mackerel fish occurred during transitional season II (September-November) and lowest in west season. The association between SST and chlorophyll-a concentration on mackerel fish catch showed low correlation with significant relationship, whereas concentration between SST and chlorophyll-a concentration strong with significant correlation

This study aimed to map the oceanographic conditions and, based on that, to determine the favorable condition of skipjack tuna fishing ground in Fisheries Management Area (FMA) 713. This condition includes sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a concentration. The primary data, such as fishing ground position and fish catch per trip, was collected by following the fishing operations that utilized pole and line (in Bone Gulf and Flores Sea) and purse seine fishing operations (in Makassar Strait). The secondary data, such as SST and chlorophyll-a, was derived from oceanographic satellite image data. The result showed that from January to August 2019, the skipjack tuna tends to occupy off shore areas where the sea surface temperature is between 29 - 29.5 oC and the chlorophyll-a density is between 0.10 to 0.15 mg.m3.

The present paper is an attempt to test the applicability of the trophic state index (TRIX) for scaling the eutrophication along the Bulgarian Black Sea coastal zone in concert with a number of chemical and biological descriptors aimed at selection of relevant indicators of marine coastal area ecological quality. The following environmental parameters have been considered: to, salinity, nutrients - inorganic P, N and dissolved Si, dissolved oxygen and oxygen saturation, phytoplankton - taxonomic structure, abundance and biomass, chlorophyll a, zooplankton - taxonomic structure, abundance and biomass. Principal Component Analysis was applied in order to figure out and score the most relevant combination of parameters to discriminate between sites and select representative descriptors (pressure/state) of eutrophication. The following variables are defined as relevant descriptors for classification of the sites: nutrients (N, P, Si) and their molar ratios (N:P and Si:P), the capacity of the system to produce and sustain organic matter (chlorophyll a, phytoplankton biomass), phytoplankton taxonomic dominance (Bacilariophyceae:Dinophyceae biomass ratio), grazing pressure (phytoplankton:zooplankton biomass, Bacilariophyceae:Copepoda), plankton diversity index (Hb and Ha) and the trophic state index (TRIX). The investigated sites under a different anthropogenic impact are classified according to selected descriptors and their water quality state.

Fish is one of the aquatic commodities with significant economic value, and Segara Anakan areas is a habitat for valuable fishes for local fisherman. Segara Anakan is a eutrophic waters and serves as nursery and spawning ground and also provide an optimal environment for several species fish larvae to grow, either sedentary or migratory species. Therefore it is suggested that diverse species inhabit Segara Anakan and different part of those areas has different species because different species commonly exhibit different habitat preferences. The objectives of this research were to determine the diversity and spatial distribution of fish species in Segara Anakan Cilacap. This research was a survey with the Cluster Random Sampling was implemented as sampling technique. Species diversity was analyzed descriptively, as well as the spatial distribution. The relationships between environmental parameters and spatial distribution were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis. Environmental factors such as temperature, pH, salinity, and water DO were measured. The result showed that Stolephorus indicus was the most dominant species in Segara Anakan. The spatial distribution of fishes in every sampling station was found fluctuated. The environmental factors and fish were found highly correlated.

Abstract Fishery production in Indonesia is still relatively high, dominated by the marine capture fisheries. Oceanographic dynamics can affect the high and low levels of marine fishery production. Sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a are oceanographic parameters that are often used as indicators for determining fishing areas, especially pelagic fish which are associated with ocean fertility. This study aims to identify the effect of chlorophyll-a and sea surface temperature (SST) on the production of fish catches in Indonesia: 2018. Data on marine capture fisheries production (skipjack, mackerel tuna, tuna and shrimp) in 2018 were obtained from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP). Data of Chlorophyll-a and sea surface temperature (SST) are satellite observations from Marine Copernicus. The relationship between chlorophyll-a and sea surface temperature (SST) with marine capture fisheries production was analyzed using logistic regression analysis. The results showed that chlorophyll-a significantly affected the yield of skipjack and tuna in Indonesia with coefficients of -5.7066 and -4.3760, respectively. A higher concentration of chlorophyll-a had the possibility to produce high fish production of 0.0033 times than an area with a lower concentration of chlorophyll-a.

Fish resources within Indonesian waters (i.e. teritorial and archipelagic waters) including Indonesian Economic Exclusive Zone if under sustainably management it would contribute a significant role as a source of nation welfare. Scientific advice on stock status and its exploitation rate are required as an input to support an apropriate fisheries management. Generally, fish resources in these waters are dominated by two main fish groups such as small pelagic fish by 36 % and large pelagic fish by 25 %. Indonesia fish resource in 2015 was estimated for 9,931 million tons/year with comprises of 1,992 million ton/year (20 %) in fisheries management area (FMA) 718 (Arafura sea), 1,228 million/year (12 %) in FMA 572 (western of Sumatera of Indian ocean and Sunda strait) and 1,143 million tons/year (12 %) in FMA 711 (Karimata strait, Natuna sea, and south China sea). Most of fish resources (49 %) were in the status of overfishing with red indicator, folowed by fully-exploited state(37 %) in yellow indicator and only 14 % in the moderate state (green indicator). Among all nine fish groups, the overfishing state (up to 63%) is recorded from group of shrimps (Penaidae), lobster, and crabs. The management options in these prespective is urgently suggested to reduce fishing effort at the level of f.opt (fishing optimum) for overfishing fish groups. Whilts possibly to increase effort for fish groups with fully and moderate exploited state at the level off opt.
