With the growing diversity of professions working in schools, interdisciplinary partnership and collaboration are growing quickly the world over. Apart from traditional teaching and learning concerns, awareness of children and youth mental health issues and socio-emotional wellbeing, grew readily since the 2000s. Rising in tandem with this trend is the number of psychologists, social workers, and counselors joining educators to support children and young persons in schools. Challenges such as misconception of roles, differing perceptions as well as cross-disciplinary misunderstanding threaten to prevent concerned professionals in working collaborative to help children and young persons in need. Fortunately, this aspect of interdisciplinary partnership in schools gains the much-needed attention in research from Asia and the Middle East to Europe and the Americas. Models and frameworks suggesting best practices for interdisciplinary collaboration emerged in school psychology, counseling and social work literature. Also growing in tandem is research in methods of measurement and evaluation of such collaboration as well as studies on pre-service professional training on interdisciplinary collaborative skills in the related disciplines.

The integration of Internet and education has changed students’ learning environment and affected their learning behavior, which poses a greater challenge to the traditional teaching mode. Through the SWOT analysis of the “student centered” multi-element blended teaching mode in the era of “Internet + education”, it is concluded that the adaptability of learners themselves and the mismatch between teachers’ educational ideas and this teaching model delay the development of education to a certain extent. Some suggestions are put forward, such as strengthening the supervision and guidance, implementing the teaching and learning model scientifically, improving teachers’ ideology and comprehensive quality, and making full use of the characteristics of Internet opening, sharing and collaboration to construct the public service system and platform of national educational resources.

The Malaysian Education Blueprint (MEB) 2013-2025 emphasized on principals’ supervisory practices and teachers’ quality to enhance 21st-century international quality education. The lack of professional training for principals and the decline of teacher’s quality according to Yayasan Islam Kelantan (YIK) report (YIK, 2017) have affected the government’s aspirations. This problem requires a solution because the instructional supervision is a catalyst of teachers’ professional values and quality. Meanwhile, teachers’ quality is related to teaching professionalism practices, knowledge, understanding as well as teaching and learning skills. This study is essential for principals’ instructional supervision improvement and enhancing teachers’ quality. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey approach was adopted using a standardized three-section questionnaire comprising Section A: Respondents’ Personal and Professional Backgrounds, Section B: Instructional Supervision and Section C: Teachers’ Quality. The study sample comprised 360 teachers in YIK Religious Secondary Schools. A descriptive and inferential data analysis was generated using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 20 Version. The improved quality among teachers was the result of holistic supervisory practices of principals namely, directive guidance, collective development, professional development, curriculum development and action research guidance. Thus, it is significant that principals understand the practical dimensions of supervision in order to improve teachers’ quality in YIK Religious Secondary Schools in Kelantan. It is recommended that YIK focuses on instructional supervision practices to produce quality teachers as the principals’ instructional supervision is highly potential catalysts for quality teachers.

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the “Skill Based Qualitative Learning Approach” (SBQLA) in training health professionals.Description: The SBQLA is a pedagogical approach via which learners are trained in developing qualitative questionnaires and interview skills to learn from experts in the Public Health (PH) field. This teaching approach arms students with interview skills that help them identify and address PH roadblocks and get them authentic information from experts. It also equips them with techniques on how to do formalized presentations and come up with projects and interventions that help mitigate and eliminate drivers of health problems among women, children and families.Assessment: Learners' field experiences are shared in a professional presentation style in a class to help trainees benefit from each other's information and to get formalized feedback on their presentation. Assessment in this learning approach is based on a synthesis and an analysis of data collected from professionals. Conclusion: Findings from this learning approach enables experts to shed light on true stories shared by real and authentic individuals whose faces can be associated with their shared experiences. This learning approach makes it possible for trainees to also initiate projects that help them tackle existing and emerging public health issues in their future work.
