Jerome composed a total of eight prefaces for his four Pauline commentaries: one for each of the three books of the Galatians and Ephesians commentaries, and one each for the Titus and Philemon commentaries. In half of these prefaces he includes personal content which has nothing to do with the epistle under comment. This chapter argues that he deployed these four prefaces to work toward a number of goals at once—cultivate literary patrons in Rome, defend his opus Paulinum against anticipated criticism, and displace Marius Victorinus and install himself as the Latin West’s first legitimate commentator on Paul.

Purpose The next phase of hardware technology development is focused on alternative ways to manage and store consumers’ personal content. However, even consumers who have adopted Cloud-based services have demonstrated a reluctance to move all of their personal content into the Cloud and continue to resist giving up local hard drives. This paper aims to investigate the characteristics of local hard drives and the Cloud that lead to simultaneous use. Design/methodology/approach This paper uses content analysis of online comments and ten depth interviews with simultaneous users of local hard drives and the Cloud. Findings Three factors influence the resistance to giving up local hard drives. Simultaneous users utilize local hard drives as a redundancy system and as a way to ensure the permanence of their digital content. They are unsure of the Cloud’s ability to support their content creation, management and storage activities (task-technology fit). Research limitations/implications Study findings are based on qualitative methods and thus the results cannot be considered conclusive. Practical implications The authors speculate that it is unlikely that Cloud-only will fully replace hard drives until these factors are understood and addressed by information technology developers. Cloud service providers may not be aware of how little that users understand the Cloud. In contrast to their certainty and confidence in local hard drives, simultaneous users are confused as to what the Cloud is and how it functions. This uncertainty exacerbates their risk perception and need for control. Originality/value This is the first study exploring simultaneous use of local hard drives and the Cloud with a view to understanding this behaviour in terms of the relative advantage of the incumbent technology over the new technology.

Discussion of the ethics of digital communication often focuses on the speech content communicated, rather than on the speech acts performed. This can be illustrated by data protection approaches to rights to privacy, which seek to prevent the reuse of personal content unless the relevant data subjects give informed consent. Unfortunately, the partition of content into personal and non-personal is insecure: personal data can sometimes be inferred from data not seen as personal. A more robust approach to digital ethics would focus on communicative action, and would query the degree of protection and above all the anonymity available to those who control and organize others’ digital communication.

The purpose of this chapter is to introduce tools for automatic audio management. The authors present applications which are already available for the users and describe the algorithms and methods behind these applications and their performance. They also discuss the concept of metadata, which is an important prerequisite for modern distributed personal content applications. The variety of automatic audio management tools is wide-ranging. This chapter covers audio segmentation and classification, query by example of audio, music retrieval and recommendation, and speech management, which they consider as being the most important aspects of audio information management. Computational complexity is one major concern in the present era of personal mobile devices and large multimedia collections available on the internet. Therefore they also introduce clustering and indexing techniques which are developed for faster access in large databases.

IntroductionLittle research has been done to systematically evaluate concerns of people living with diabetes through social media, which has been a powerful tool for social change and to better understand perceptions around health-related issues. This study aims to identify key diabetes-related concerns in the USA and primary emotions associated with those concerns using information shared on Twitter.Research design and methodsA total of 11.7 million diabetes-related tweets in English were collected between April 2017 and July 2019. Machine learning methods were used to filter tweets with personal content, to geolocate (to the USA) and to identify clusters of tweets with emotional elements. A sentiment analysis was then applied to each cluster.ResultsWe identified 46 407 tweets with emotional elements in the USA from which 30 clusters were identified; 5 clusters (18% of tweets) were related to insulin pricing with both positive emotions (joy, love) referring to advocacy for affordable insulin and sadness emotions related to the frustration of insulin prices, 5 clusters (12% of tweets) to solidarity and support with a majority of joy and love emotions expressed. The most negative topics (10% of tweets) were related to diabetes distress (24% sadness, 27% anger, 21% fear elements), to diabetic and insulin shock (45% anger, 46% fear) and comorbidities (40% sadness).ConclusionsUsing social media data, we have been able to describe key diabetes-related concerns and their associated emotions. More specifically, we were able to highlight the real-world concerns of insulin pricing and its negative impact on mood. Using such data can be a useful addition to current measures that inform public decision making around topics of concern and burden among people with diabetes.

Brief face-to-face self-confidence workshops were effective in reducing depression among the public. Technological advances have enabled traditional face-to-face interventions to be adapted using unique technology-mediated platforms. This article details the formative development of a self-confidence web-based seminar (webinar) intervention for workplace depression. The first section discusses a qualitative study that explores the feasibility and acceptability of adapting the self-confidence workshops into a webinar platform on employees in the workplace. The second section describes the systematic development of this new webinar intervention informed by the qualitative study findings, a published systematic review, and previous face-to-face self-confidence workshops. The qualitative study involves three focus groups (n = 10) conducted in a small organization. Three themes were identified relevant to the running of the new self-confidence webinars in the workplace: personal (content, time and duration preference, features of the webinar, individual participation, personalization), interpersonal (stigma from others, engagement with participants/presenter, moderated interaction), and organizational (endorsement from management, work demand). For the intervention development, the format, structure, features, and content of the self-confidence webinar intervention are described. Features such as file sharing, virtual whiteboard, live chat, and poll are explained with the intervention primarily based on cognitive behavior therapy and coping flexibility concepts.

The article deals with the processes of university`s communication channels with target audiences transformation. Since universities have a specific role in creating the Eurasian educational system, it is necessary to increase their integration po-tential, especially through the activation of communications through modern channels. Key problems of universities that can be solved through the develop-ment of communication channels are formulated. It is shown that online channels contribute to building a dialogue between the organization and target audiences and generate personal content. The dilemma «a standard decision with an orienta-tion to the experience of others vs a unique decision and a new experience» does not have a single solution. The university site is considered as the most important point of interaction through an online channel. Traditional and unique practices of using the university communication channels are presented. The conclusion is made about the necessity to find innovative and unique solutions that empower the growth of university's competitiveness.

The article highlights theoretical aspects of the professional and ethical orientation of the personality of a future specialist in banking. The author consistently examines the key concepts of the problem under study and defines the relationship between them. On the basis of this, specification of the professional and ethical orientation of the personality of a future specialist in the industry has been disclosed. It is shown that the professional and ethical orientation of the personality of a specialist in banking is strengthening of his/her positive attitude towards the future profession, interests, inclinations and abilities to it, the desire to improve his/her qualifications, the development of ideals, views, beliefs about the importance of following the ethical norms in professional activity. The author considers the need to increase the interest of students in studying the problems of professional ethics by means of potential of the educational process. The content of educational materials, a review of literature on the topic, the emphasis on the practical significance of the material and its importance for the profession are determined as important aspects for achieving set goals. It is pointed out that the basis of professional and ethical knowledge is the knowledge acquired in the study of such disciplines as «Ethics and Aesthetics», «Ethics of business communication», «Psychology of business success». The necessity to combine the material of the Humanities with the current problems of banking and the life aspirations of students and to help them to determine their value orientations, to enrich their moral personality potential has been noted in the article. According to the author the professional interest acquired by the students should have special personal content, related to their daily life and future life prospects. In order to do this, it is important to emphasize the importance of professional and ethical knowledge in the activities of the banking industry, to reveal its entirety with the ethical content of the chosen profession at the announcement of the topic at each class.
