Chapter 6 provides an examination of findings related to the frequency of loss in the lives of artists, and how artists are motivated to shape loss and inner pain into creative products. Loss has been noted in the lives of artists for decades. It comes in the form of death; it comes in other ways, too. The chapter explores questions about the loss–art connection. What is it about loss that mobilizes creativity? What’s the nature of the correlation? Does loss propel art? The author outlines the role of trauma in creativity, with artist examples including Jorge Luis Borges, William Styron, Jack Kerouac, Truman Capote, and Patricia Highsmith.

This research has aimed to highlight the role of small and medium projects in sustainable development according to the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by identifying the role and outcome of these projects in sustainable development. 150 sample sizes were taken to study within Al Quwaiiyah KSA, Descriptive analytical method has been used and constructed questionnaire. The total agreeing of the study participants reached (80.8%) for the items "the role of small and medium projects in sustainable development", the most item was a contribution to product development and the emergence of new services on the market, providing society with new creative products; The total agreeing of the study participants reached (73.4%) for the item of axis " The role of the General Authority for Small and Medium institutions and the National Transformation Program in sustainable development " the most item was granting the authority incentives and offers for owners of small and medium institutions; The total agreeing of the study participants reached (73.4%) for the item of axis "the role of Vision 2030 in supporting small and medium institutions in development" " the most item was Vision 2030 provides many job opportunities for young people in small and medium institutions. Most significant study recommendations are workers, employees in the field of small and medium projects should increase their capacity building to avoid shortage of experiences and encouraging national experiences from various projects to support and train beginners in the field of small and medium projects.

The growth of the creative community cannot be quantitatively and qualitatively separated from the growing development of Creative Industry 4.0. Various creative communities produce a variety of creative products that are ready to be sold. Unfortunately, the focus of the community is often only on the product and not on the packaging design. Meanwhile, a product’s packaging not only serves to protect the product but also to promote it and encourage purchase. The purpose of this research is to educate and help the community obtain packaging designs that are not only unique but also suitable for their products. By involving Packaging Design course students of the Visual Communication Design department, we attempted to assist a jewellery and accessories-making community as our research object. Students first attempted to deepen their clients' insights by conducting observations and in-depth interviews. In designing the packaging, they consulted with their tutors intensively. The packaging design that the students produced undergoes a selection process, which resulted in four packaging designs that were deemed fit for use. Two of the selected designs were registered to obtain IPRs in the Industrial Design category. Through this research, it is hoped that the packaging design produced by these students can be used to support the sale of community products. In addition to that, they can also be used to inspire other communities to acknowledge the role of packaging design as a means that can help the sustainability of their business.

Bibliotekarstvo kao nauka i vještina organizacije znanja i njegovih produkata evoluira te je, kao i sve ostale naučne ili praktične discipline, prisiljeno prilagođavati se vremenu. Na tom svom evolucijskom putu, općeprihvaćene teorije i poimanje biblioteke i bibliotekarstva kao struke se mijenjaju te se sve više udaljavaju od tradicionalnih predstava – gotovo do granice naučne fantastike. Pa ipak, do juče fikcijske, književnoumjetničke predstave, danas se posmatraju na krajnje konstruktivan i racionalan način. Jedan od najzanimljivijih primjera je doživljaj i vizija biblioteke u fikcijskom svijetu Jorgea Luisa Borgesa. Na tragu njegovih profetskih zapažanja utkanih u njegov književni univerzum, mnogi naučnici današnjice iz različitih oblasti kroz multidisciplinarni pristup pokušavaju rekonstruirati i kreirati sliku biblioteke budućnosti preoblikovane na način da može odgovoriti zahtjevima novog vremena. Ponajviše zahvaljujući enormnom tehnološkom razvoju i izazovima koje on sobom nosi, vizije sveopšte ili univerzalne biblioteke, biblioteke bez zidova, čine se izvodive i vode ka preispitivanju postojećih i stvaranju novih teorija o budućoj ulozi biblioteke i suštini bibliotečke prakse. Interesantno je i izazovno iz današnje perspektive struke promišljati na koji način će se poimati biblioteka u bližoj ili daljoj budućnosti, kako će izgledati i koja će od postojećih vizija, naučna ili literarna, biti bliže realizaciji u stvarnosti. = Librarianship as a science and skill of the organization of knowledge and its products is evolving and, like all other scientific or practical disciplines, it is forced to keep up with the times. In this evolutionary path, traditional theories and notions of libraries and librarianship as professions are changing and reaching far beyond the traditional ones – almost to the limits of science fictions. Nevertheless, theories which were until recently considered fictional literary and artistic performances are today already seen from an extremely constructive and rational perspective. One of the most interesting examples is the experience and vision of the library in the fictional world of Jorge Luis Borges. Following his prophetic observations woven into his literary universe, many scholars from various fields, are trying through a multidisciplinary approach to reconstruct and create an image of the library of the future reshaped in a way that can respond to demands of modern times. Mostly thanks to the enormous technological development and challenges it brings, visions of a Universal Library seem feasible and lead to rethinking of existing and creating new theories about the future role of the library and the essence of library practice. It is interesting and challenging from today’s professional perspective to think about the way that library will be understood in the near or distant future, what it will look like and which of the existing visions – scientific or literary – will be closer to realization in reality.

During his final years, Latouche faced some discrimination and censure as a result of his inclusion in a 1950 handbook entitled Red Channels: The Report of Communist Influence in Radio and Television. For all his malaise during these years, he continued to kick up his heels with friends and maintain his reputation as one of the city’s brightest wits and raconteurs. His eclectic assortment of friends durisng this period included composer Ned Rorem; writers Gore Vidal, Tennessee Williams, Truman Capote, and Jack Kerouac; ghost hunter Hans Holzer; and poet Frank O’Hara. He also became romantically involved with the heiress Alice Bouverie (of the Astor dynasty) as well as with painter Harry Martin and poet Kenward Elmslie, with whom he purchased a country home in Vermont.

This study focused on the context in which entrepreneurship in the cultural and creative industries (CCI) takes place. We investigated entrepreneurs’ inspiration, which refers to a specific type of motivation that allows the transformation of creative ideas into creative products. To explain this, we operationalised ‘passion for work’, which measures how passionately engaged entrepreneurs are with their work, as well as ‘localised passion’, which measures the passion others in one’s proximity have for their work. Ten locations throughout the Netherlands composed of creative entrepreneurs made up the setting of this study. Our results show that localised passion has two components (passion atmosphere and passion in others), which have a positive effect on inspiration. Moreover, there is a mediating role of passion for work in this relationship.

This paper examines the role of creative milieu and cultural heritages in the development of Chinese cultural industry. Through case study of Beijing’s Nanluoguxiang, where several arts institutions and theaters concentrate, it depicts the birth and growth of a creative place for free artists in the institutional changing of Chinese cultural setting. Based on field survey data from artists, managers and visitors, it shows the spouting and growth of local creativities in a transitional economy needs atmosphere of tolerant and frequent social gathering, especially in spaces like cafes and bars. It also suggests that making a good use of local cultural and creative resources like heritages and folk customs enables the superiority of localization standing out in the wave of globalization. The key findings indicate that the newly-built creative parks might be useful to breed the creative products, but not necessary.

The contributions of Oswald de Andrade, Gloria Anzaldúa, Walter Benjamin, Jorge Luis Borges, Álvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca, José Hernández, Claude Lévi-Strauss, José Ortega y Gasset, Octavio Paz, José Enrique Rodó, Juan Rulfo, and José Vasconcelos are placed in dialogue and concepts like Mestizaje and Tropicalismo are considered.

The study aims at identifying the concept as well as the factors of creative marketing in service organizations and recognizing the development in the service sector at a global level. The sample of the study was comprised of (16) Jordanian service organizations that were intentionally chosen. The sampled organizations represent 16% of the population. The study is an attempt to find out the role of creative marketing in reaching the competitive advantage in Jordanian service organizations while depending upon the basic factors of creativity in the marketing mix (7Ps). The significance of the study lies in the examination of the efficiency of creative marketing at the organizational level. Creativity refers to the trends adopted by the entrepreneurial organizations, which seeks to provide creative products and services while positively making a change in the competitive base. The creative process in organizations is shaped through researching and developing creative ideas in order to increase profits and investment revenues of successful products and services as well as improving the strategic status. The study has come out with several findings and recommendations that include: the necessity of establishing a department for marketing in the organization, defining whose responsibility it is to develop and to create new products by building a creative personnel that is highly educated in marketing, creating a balance in terms of creativity among various marketing areas and not only focusing on the product in spite of its significance, and structuring an administrative branch that is specialized in creativity particularly in marketing creativity in each of the sampled organizations. It was discovered that these organizations administrative branches sought to find out effective marketing ideas, filter them, evaluate them, and turned the useful ideas into innovative products and developed tangible products mainly to serve the customers of the organization.

The philosophic system of the founder of pragmatism Charles Sanders Peirce is rarely grasped from the point of view of its metaphoric usage. However, some of his most original yet often misunderstood and contested ideas such as those of ‘matter as effete mind’ and ‘the play of musement’ are metaphoric representations. In the present paper I am offering a new way to discuss the role of metaphors in Peirce’s philosophy by taking a twofold approach to the problem. On the one hand, metaphor itself becomes an object of inquiry. I touch upon the appearances of metaphoric thinking at the level of his classes of signs and metaphor’s relation to abductive inference. I trace those appearances in the process of their becoming from the spontaneity of Firstness towards the actuality of Secondness via the generalizing effects of Thirdness. Then I propose a flexible graphic model of metaphor that is parallel to Peirce’s inherent evolutionism. This model is seen as a “gentle” methodological tool for deriving meaning. To illustrate its applicability I include a playful nod to the literary works of Jorge Luis Borges to show how hard logical thought and aesthetic beauty complement each other.
