ABSTRACT In this paper, we investigate the impact of correlated noise on fast radio burst (FRB) searching. We found that (1) the correlated noise significantly increases the false alarm probability; (2) the signal-to-noise ratios (S/N) of the false positives become higher; (3) the correlated noise also affects the pulse width distribution of false positives, and there will be more false positives with wider pulse width. We use 55-h observation for M82 galaxy carried out at Nanshan 26m radio telescope to demonstrate the application of the correlated noise modelling. The number of candidates and parameter distribution of the false positives can be reproduced with the modelling of correlated noise. We will also discuss a low S/N candidate detected in the observation, for which we demonstrate the method to evaluate the false alarm probability in the presence of correlated noise. Possible origins of the candidate are discussed, where two possible pictures, an M82-harboured giant pulse and a cosmological FRB, are both compatible with the observation.

In casting a new look at city; this study interprets the urban form in respect of the role played by human perception of space. The main aim of this research at a macro level is to attain a strong theorical basis through a multi-dimensional approach to the city. The method of analyzing and carrying out a critique of it at an applied level will clarify the impact, which cultural factors have in the formation of urban form. This preliminary recognition and idealism is based on a hermeneutic and deductive method that is particular to the intellectual sciences In the process of devising theories, studying the urban planning texts related to the subject of study and the conclusion from the field study which is carried out in the Isfahan Naghshe Jahan square in the Safavy period played a key role in the research in addition to the goals and questions.

A vacuum pressure tracking system with high-speed on-off valves is a discontinuous system due to the discrete nature of high-speed on-off valves. Chamber pressure changes in the system are determined by the mass flow rates during the processes of charging and discharging. Here, a sliding mode controller with an asymmetric compensator based on average mass flow rate is designed for accurate vacuum pressure tracking. The controller output signal is converted into the duty cycles of the high-speed on-off valves via a pulse width modulation pulsing scheme. Owing to the extreme asymmetry of the processes, an asymmetric structure comprising one high-speed on-off valve in the charging unit and three high-speed on-off valves in the discharging unit is applied to weaken the impact of asymmetry. In addition, an asymmetric compensator is also designed to modify the pulse width modulation pulsing scheme to further eliminate the asymmetry. Experimental results indicate that the proposed controller achieves better performance in pressure tracking with the asymmetric compensator overcoming process asymmetry and enhancing system robustness.

Noise can have many harmful effects on the recipients, however people exposed to noise on a long-term and regular basis can get used to it, even if the permissible levels are exceeded. In cities, green areas and park systems are provided to create a climate for rest and relaxation. Spa parks are a special kind of such park systems, which – in addition to the above-mentioned features – support therapies offered by spa facilities located there. On the one hand, patients and visitors appreciate various social and entertainment events held there, but – on the other – a multitude of sounds associated with them may reduce the comfort of their stay. The aim of this paper is to analyse the relationship between the results of noise measurements and the human perception of noise within the impact zone. The examined area is a spa park in the health resort district of Inowrocław, where seasonal measurements (taken in summer and winter) provided a basis for the determination of the connection between the measured values of equivalent sound level and the noise level perceived by surveyed people. A statistical analysis was performed to take into account the correlation between the obtained measurement results and the human perception of noise. It shows some differences in the perception of heard sounds. The results allow an evaluation of the soundscape of the analysed area.

3D virtual building models are used to help clients reach decisions during concept and detailed design phases. However, previously published research provides evidence for discrepancies between human perception of virtual and physical spaces; thus perceiving each virtual dimension (height, width, depth) differently from its physical counterpart, with varying percentages. This can affect clients' effective decision-making during coordination if 3D virtual representations are not perceived identical to their physical equivalent. This paper discusses the impact of these discrepancies beyond the design phases and into the whole lifecycle, construction and operations. Moreover, descriptive and inferential statistical analysis provides evidence of relationships between the physical and virtual perception differences in dimension, discussing possible factors contributing to perception discrepancies affecting the individual viewer, in 2 main areas 1) 3D authoring software 2) psychophysical factors. Possible solutions are also proposed to accommodate for the discrepancy between physical and virtual spaces.

This article using the method of orthogonal test analysis the law of honeycomb ring part in aero-engineer surface discharge mark diameter by EDG. In the impulse voltage under certain conditions,by changing the peak current and pulse width in the interelectrode study both of the impact of the largest diameter of GH3536 surface discharge mark, and build a mathematical model of the regression equation, derive relatively accurate empirical formula. Provide a good reference and guidance for the actual production of the EDG.

This paper presents the novel approach for the impact damage characterisation of composite structures, which is based on fusion of ultrasonic scans and optical images. Both internal (inter-fibre failure, fibre failure, delaminations) and external (scratches and surface cracks) damages occurred in the composite structures during their operation need to be analysed due to their occurrence on both of these levels, especially in the case of impact damages. The presented approach allows for the improvement of the characterisation quality, i.e. the whole damaged area could be detected and localized. In order to assure the proper damage identification the wavelet-based fusion with application of appropriate wavelets and parameters of a fusion algorithm was used, which allows for distinction of different types of damages and overall improvement of the resulted image with respect to the human perception capability. The approach was validated experimentally on the glass-epoxy laminated plates after the low-velocity impacts. Representative cases of damaged structure were presented and analysed.

The article substantiates the problem of synthesis of media art in the modern synthesis of arts in architecture, provides a definition of the term " Media Art" as a higher form of artistic development. Attention is paid to the analysis of recent research and publications devoted to the study of the artistic component of interactive design in the synthesis of the arts of architectural space, the influence of media technologies on the formation of the architectural image of art centers, describing trends in media technology in architecture. The purpose of the article is to consider the forms of media art, their role in the synthesis of arts in architecture. The article emphasizes the objects created and embodied in Ukraine, describes the synthesis of arts from the angle of influence of media art on human perception and outlines the prospects for development. The history of the synthesis of arts in architecture from ancient times, the development of the synthesis of arts in the Art Nouveau style, the preconditions for the emergence of media art are briefly described. The synthesis of media art and architecture, interaction with other arts, namely painting, sculpture, music and others is considered on the example of the multimedia center Atelier des Lumières – "Workshop of the World" in Paris, which specializes in digital art exhibitions; Ukraine WOW exhibition in Kyiv, which is equipped with various forms of media art; media facades in Kyiv; media cube on the facade of Chicago Central House, which is the first media sculpture in Europe. The definition of "media facades" is also given and the influence of media technologies on the emotional and psychological state of a person is considered. Examples of interaction of various forms of media art with architecture are given. The conclusions determine the role of media art in architecture, the impact of media technology on human psychology, outline the prospects for the development of media art in the modern synthesis of arts in architecture.

The article examines the concept of “space”, based on other researchers’ works, examined spatial perception process, factors that determine a different every human perception of space, analysing the impact of architectural spaces on the perceiver. The most attention is focused on educational spaces, because in the lithuanian context there is a lack of information on the subject. In the article author is keeping the opinion that physical environment becomes a factor or measure, helping not only to seek for the best learning results, but also achieve the best state of being of the learner. Therefore the article attempt to identify those principles of space formation which could stimulate children’s cognitive skills and help to design a quality educational environment. Based on the analyzed theories of certain features of the spaces is provided on specific examples of schools. Straipsnyje, remiantis kitų tyrėjų veikalais, aiškinamasi „erdvės“ sąvoka, nagrinėjamas erdvės suvokimo procesas, veiksniai, lemiantys skirtingą kiekvieno žmogaus erdvės suvokimą, analizuojamas architektūrinės erdvės poveikis suvokėjui. Daugiausia dėmesio skiriama edukacinėms erdvėms, nes lietuviškame kontekste trūksta informacijos šia tema. Straipsnyje laikomasi nuostatos, jog fizinė erdvė gali tapti veiksniu ar priemone, kuri padėtų siekti ne tik geriausių mokymosi rezultatų, bet ir palankiausiai besimokančio asmens būsenai sukurti. Todėl straipsnyje bandoma identifikuoti tuos erdvių formavimo principus, kurie galėtų skatinti kognityvinius vaikų gebėjimus bei padėtų sukurti kokybišką edukacinę aplinką. Remiantis išanalizuotomis teorijomis tam tikrų erdvių bruožai pateikiami remiantis konkrečių mokyklų pavyzdžiais.
