This research investigates the supplier selection criteria in the surface mount technology (SMT) industry by conducting in-depth interviews with experts to design the questionnaire for collecting data. Questionnaires are then sent to a selected list of SMT companies in Taiwan. The data are then analyzed through statistical methods. Additionally, the factor analysis is used to extract major components and construct the evaluation criteria, which includes five main categories and 41 evaluation indicators. The Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis is also used to consider factors that affect strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of logistics in a firm. Those factors include competitions between the existing competitors, threats from potential entrants, and threats from the alternatives. The five forces analysis is conducted to survey the bargaining power of the buyers. The study compiles views and recommendations from supplier management professionals in SMT industry, as well as their work experiences, enterprises' existing mode of operation and other relevant information. The compiled recommendations and statistical results may provide guidelines for suppliers' selection in the SMT industry.

This study investigated the resilience of the Chinese child protection system in responding to the special needs of children in difficulty under the specific circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study applied qualitative document analysis of child protection administrative documents, in-depth interviews with 13 child protection professionals, and an in-depth case study of 14 children living in difficulty, complemented by relevant information available in the media. The results indicate that there are good policies in China’s child protection services but the organizational and functional fragmentation complicates implementation, suggesting a need for the development of bottom-up practices. The essential conclusion supported by these results is that the child protection system should be regarded and developed as a systematic project combining the legal, policymaking, and professional systems of child welfare services as well as governmental and non-governmental forces. As the COVID-19 pandemic has raised awareness of the need to develop the field of child protection holistically as an integrated system in terms of social sustainability in China, an international literature-based comparison indicates that the pandemic has also raised similar political awareness in other countries.

: The progress of a region can be measured by the level of financial literacy of its population and financial inclusion. DKI Jakarta is in the top financial ranking for literacy and inclusion, but it is inversely proportional to the Pulau Seribu region. This research is a qualitative research with the technique of obtaining data through in-depth interviews with residents in the Pulau Seribu. The results are processed with a Strength Weakness Opportunity Threat (SWOT) analysis to produce a map of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that exist in the Pulau Seribu region. With the SWOT condition in the region, it is hoped that the policy makers, namely the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), the DKI Jakarta Regional Government and the community themselves are able to synergize in formulating strategies to accelerate the backwardness of the Pulau Seribu with DKI Jakarta.

Purpose This paper aims to evaluate and prioritize the key supplier selection indicators and to establish the relationship between available alternatives and selected indicators by using step-wise weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) and weighted aggregated sum product assessment (WASPAS). Design/methodology/approach Authors have extracted the supplier selection criteria from literature and used a combined SWARA-WASPAS method to evaluate and rank the criteria’s. SWARA is applied for evaluating and weighting selection criteria, whereas WASPAS helped in evaluating different available alternatives based on supplier selection indicators. Findings Finding from SWARA suggests that supplier management is the high weighted criteria followed by information sharing and joint actions. WASPAS was used to evaluate the available alternatives and supplier A1 got the highest priority. Additionally, sensitivity analysis indicates the different scenarios for the best supplier selection. Practical implications Working executives can use the SWARA for assessment of weights of finalized indicators for their firm in the cement industry. Further, the calculated weights can be used for product and sum weightage through WASPAS to finalize the best supplier. Originality/value The originality of the manuscript lies in the sector and methodology. Author(s) applied the SWARA and WASPAS method for supplier selection in the Indian cement industry that will help working executives to evaluate their supply chain partners.

Price is the main criteria used by RSIS in choosing a supplier of printed products. Mold products are used to run the work process every day at the hospital. The purpose of this research is to design the model of selecting and evaluating the supplier of multi attribute by using the Grey method (Selection) based on TOPSIS (Evaluation). Criteria obtained based on interviews and literature studies by researchers with the decision maker procurement department. There are three criteria of supplier selection in RSIS by using Grey based TOPSIS method, that is cost, quality and service. The result of this research is finding the best supplier based on the selection of the decision maker with the best supplier to the worst that is supplier D with the best criterion value, then supplier E, A, C to the worst supplier that is supplier B. This paper is aimed at utilizing a hybrid multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) model for selecting a supplier. First, eight evaluation criteria, including cost, quality, distance, delivery reliability, reputation, technology level, compatibility and development ability are identified. The A nalytic H ierarchical P rocess (AHP) is initially used for calculating the weight of each criterion. The CO mplex PR oportional AS sessment of alternatives to G rey relations (COPRAS-G method) is adopted for ranking and selecting suppliers. In order to illustrate the functional ability of the developed model, Kalleh Company is chosen as a case study and can be used as a pattern for supplier selection and future researches.

Intensive manual labor enterprises in the developed world face challenges competing with products imported from countries where manufacturing costs are low. This reduces the volume of domestic production and leads to rapid loss of knowledge and experience in production processes. This study focuses on the Israeli footwear industry as a case study. Qualitative methodologies were applied, including in-depth interviews and field observations. A literature review on previous research, and contemporary trends was conducted. The field research examines challenges along the value chain in small factories. It finds that mass production paradigms impose a decentralized process between designers and manufacturers and therefore do not leverage local potential into a sustainable competitive advantage for small factories. The proposed solution is a digital and technological platform for small manufacturing plants. The platform mediates and designs the connections between production, technology, and design and enables the creation of a joint R&D system.

Self-stigma experienced by people who experience schizophrenia has influence on reduced self-esteem, on powerlessness, the weakening of hope, and a motivation towards recovery. The aim of this study is to explain the efforts of people suffering schizophrenia to manage their self-stigma through self-control, using a case study approach. Based on the purposive sampling technique, five people with schizophrenia were selected as the cases to be studied. Data collection techniques utilized in-depth interviews, observation, and documentary studies. The analysis of the study data employed the stages of data reduction, data display, and data verification. Improvement in study quality employed the triangulation of data sources by checking the data to determine its consistency. The results of this study indicate that people with schizophrenia who have the ability to self-control can overcome self-stigma through changes in the manner of viewing themselves, self-training through activities, having endurance, having an honest approach, being able to explain schizophrenia from a positive viewpoint, having initiative, and having a positive attitude and the courage to face challenges.
