Prostaglandins, lipoid substances discovered in human semen as modulators of uterine muscle contractility, are known to play significant roles in virtually all mammalian organ systems, but their male reproductive functions are unclear. Cyclooxygenase, the rate-limiting enzyme in prostaglandin synthesis, occurs in two isoforms distinguished on the basis of constitutive (COX-1) or inducible (COX-2) expression patterns in mammalian tissues. However, in the adult rat male reproductive system, immunohistochemistry and Western and Northern analysis showed that COX-2 is the predominant isoform and is heavily localized to the epithelium of the distal vas deferens, where constitutive expression is manyfold greater than in any other organs of the body. COX-2 is not detected in the proximal one-half of the vas nor in the testis, epididymis, seminal vesicles, or prostate. Elimination of luminal sperm by vasectomy does not affect COX-2 levels, whereas castration severely depletes COX-2 and androgen replacement after castration restores COX-2, indicating that COX-2 expression in the vas is androgen dependent. Because the distal vas also comprises an extensive submucosal venous plexus connected to the penile corpora cavernosa, prostaglandins from the vas may play a role in erection.

ABSTRAKPerkembangan (development) adalah bertambahnya kemampuan atau fungsi semua sistem organ tubuh sebagai akibat bertambahnya kematangan atau maturitas fungsi sistem organ tubuh (Dewi, 2013). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui perbedaan efektivitas pemberian origami dan playdough terhadap perkembangan pada anak prasekolah kelompok A di TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal tahun 2018.Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian pre eksperiment dengan pendekatan pre-test and post-test Design. Populasi yang diteliti adalah seluruh anak kelompok A di TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal berjumlah 56 anak dengan teknik purposive sampling diperoleh sampel 36 responden. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar KPSP. Hasil penelitian kemudian dianalisa dengan menggunakan wilcoxon signed rank.Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukan bahwa perkembangan anak sebelum pelaksanaan pemberian Origami didapatkan setengahnya perkembangan anak meragukan, setelah pelaksanaan didapatkan hampir seluruhnya perkembangan anak sesuai. Perkembangan anak sebelum pelaksanaan pemberian Playdough didapatkan sebagian besar perkembangan anak meragukan, setelah pelaksanaan didapatkan sebagian besar perkembangan anak sesuai. Hasil analisis menunjukkan ada pengaruh pemberian permainan origami dan permainan Playdough terhadap perkembangan anak kelompok A di TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Tahun 2018 dengan hasil ρ-value = 0,001 ɑ = 0,05 dari kelompok origami dan ρ-value = 0,007 ɑ = 0,05 dari kelompok playdough, sedangkan hasil analisis perbedaan adanya perbedaan efektivitas pengaruh pemberian permainan origami dan playdough terhadap perkembangan anak pada kelompok A di TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Tahun 2018 dengan hasil ρ-value = 0,043 ɑ = 0,05.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan ada pengaruh permainan origami dan playdough terhadap perkembangan anak pada kelompok A di TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Tahun 2018. Diharapkan kepada orang tua maupun guru untuk lebih meningkatkan frekuensi dalam memberi stimulus permainan terutama permainan origami yang diberikan kepada anak. Kata Kunci : Perkembangan , Anak Prasekolah,  Origami, Playdough ABSTRACTDevelopment is increasing ability or function of all organ systems of the body as a result of increasing maturity or maturity function of the organ system of the body (Dewi, 2013). The purpose of this research is to know the effectiveness difference of origami and playdough on development in preschoolers group A in Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten in 2018.The research design used is research pre eksperiment with approach pre-test dan post-test. The population studied was all group A children in kindergarten Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal amounted to 56 children with purposive sampling technique obtained sample 36 respondents. The research instrument used is KPSP sheet. The results were then analyzed by using wilcoxon signed rank.The results of the research show that the development of children before the implementation of giving Origami found half of child development doubt, after the implementation is obtained almost entirely the child's development accordingly. Child development prior to the implementation of Playdough gift obtained most of the development of children doubt, after the implementation is obtained most of the child's development accordingly.  The results of the analysis show that there is an effect of giving origami game and Playdough game to the child development group A in Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten Year 2018 with the result ρ-value = 0.001 ɑ = 0.05 from the origami group and ρ-value = 0.007 ɑ = 0.05 of the playdough group, while the result of difference analysis that is difference between origami and playdough influence to children development in group A diiyah Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Year 2018 with result of ρ-value = 0,043 ɑ = 0,05.Based on the research results can be concluded there is influence of origami and playdough on the development of children in group A in Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Kindergarten Year 2018. Expected to parents and teachers to increase the frequency of giving stimulus especially the origami given to the child. Key Words : Development, children preschool, Origami, Playdough

AbstractThe anterior-posterior axis is a central element of the body plan and, during amniote gastrulation, forms through several transient domains with specific morphogenetic activities. In the chick, experimentally proven activity of signalling molecules and transcription factors lead to the concept of a ‘global positioning system’ for initial axis formation whereas in the (mammotypical) rabbit embryo, a series of morphological or molecular domains are part of a putative ‘three-anchor-point model’. Because circular expression patterns of genes involved in axis formation exist in both amniote groups prior to, and during, gastrulation and may thus be suited to reconcile these models, the expression patterns of selected genes known in the chick, namely the ones coding for the transcription factors eomes and tbx6, the signalling molecule wnt3 and the wnt inhibitor pkdcc, were analysed in the rabbit embryonic disc using in situ hybridisation and placing emphasis on their germ layer location. Peripheral wnt3 and eomes expression in all layers is found initially to be complementary to central pkdcc expression in the hypoblast during early axis formation. Pkdcc then appears — together with a posterior-anterior gradient in wnt3 and eomes domains — in the epiblast posteriorly before the emerging primitive streak is marked by pkdcc and tbx6 at its anterior and posterior extremities, respectively. Conserved circular expression patterns deduced from some of this data may point to shared mechanisms in amniote axis formation while the reshaping of localised gene expression patterns is discussed as part of the ‘three-anchor-point model’ for establishing the mammalian body plan.

Congenital lumbar hernias are uncommonly seen in the pediatric age group, with only about 60 cases reported in the literature. It is usually accompanied by a multitude of congenital anomalies involving different organ systems of the body. For instance, it may involve the ribs, spine, muscles, and the kidneys. Herein, we report a case of congenital lumbar hernia in an 8-month-old boy who underwent an operative repair using a mesh with an uneventful outcome.

The effect of COX (cyclo-oxygenase)-2-dependent PGs (prostaglandins) in acute liver injury has been investigated in transgenic mice that express human COX-2 in hepatocytes. We have used three well-established models of liver injury: in LPS (lipopolysaccharide) injury in D-GalN (D-galactosamine)-preconditioned mice; in the hepatitis induced by ConA (concanavalin A); and in the proliferation of hepatocytes in regenerating liver after PH (partial hepatectomy). The results from the present study demonstrate that PG synthesis in hepatocytes decreases the susceptibility to LPS/D-GalN or ConA-induced liver injury as deduced by significantly lower levels of the pro-inflammatory profile and plasmatic aminotransferases in transgenic mice, an effect suppressed by COX-2-selective inhibitors. These Tg (transgenic) animals express higher levels of anti-apoptotic proteins and exhibit activation of proteins implicated in cell survival, such as Akt and AMP kinase after injury. The resistance to LPS/D-GalN-induced liver apoptosis involves an impairment of procaspase 3 and 8 activation. Protection against ConA-induced injury implies a significant reduction in necrosis. Moreover, hepatocyte commitment to start replication is anticipated in Tg mice after PH, due to the expression of PCNA (proliferating cell nuclear antigen), cyclin D1 and E. These results show, in a genetic model, that tissue-specific COX-2-dependent PGs exert an efficient protection against acute liver injury by an antiapoptotic/antinecrotic effect and by accelerated early hepatocyte proliferation.

Adult stem cells (ASCs) are the undifferentiated cells that possess self-renewal and differentiation abilities. They are present in all major organ systems of the body and are uniquely reserved there during development for tissue maintenance during homeostasis, injury, and infection. They do so by promptly modulating the dynamics of proliferation, differentiation, survival, and migration. Any imbalance in these processes may result in regeneration failure or developing cancer. Hence, the dynamics of these various behaviors of ASCs need to always be precisely controlled. Several genetic and epigenetic factors have been demonstrated to be involved in tightly regulating the proliferation, differentiation, and self-renewal of ASCs. Understanding these mechanisms is of great importance, given the role of stem cells in regenerative medicine. Investigations on various animal models have played a significant part in enriching our knowledge and giving In Vivo in-sight into such ASCs regulatory mechanisms. In this review, we have discussed the recent In Vivo studies demonstrating the role of various genetic factors in regulating dynamics of different ASCs viz. intestinal stem cells (ISCs), neural stem cells (NSCs), hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), and epidermal stem cells (Ep-SCs).

Background: Inflammation is the earliest body defence mechanism in which the immune system recognises and counters the antigens and aids in healing the disease. The World Health Organisation suggests that inflammation is one of the greatest causes of death in the world. Inflammation could be acute or chronic due to the release of inflammatory mediators i.e. prostaglandins, leukotrienes due to mitogens, antigens or cytokines found in the body. Methods: Bibliographic database using pub med cites for peer-reviewed research articles with titles containing dual COX-2 and 5-LOX enzyme inhibitors, heterocyclic moieties, with AND Boolean operator's terms since last ten years of literature work. The quality papers containing the natural or synthetic lead compounds were extracted; the detailed study and conceptual framework attracted its attention. Results: Out of 127 research and review articles evaluated, 54 articles were cited to provide high quality data regarding pharmacoactive molecules having anti-inflammatory activity via dual COX-2/5-LOX inhibition. In addition, highlighting their in silico and experimental wet laboratory studies in increasing order over the past decade with the best illustration of dual enzyme inhibitory activity. Conclusion: This review gathered details of isolated bioactive compounds such as pyrazole, coumaperine, indoles, phenanthrene derivatives that have been significantly reported for anti-inflammatory activities.

Eenymeenymyzostoma nigrocorallium n. sp. is the first species of myzostomid worm associated with black corals to be described. Endoparasitic specimens of E. nigrocorallium were found associated with three species of antipatharians on the Great Reef of Toliara. Individuals inhabit the gastrovascular ducts of their hosts and evidence of infestation is, most of the time, not visible externally. Phylogenetic analyses based on 18S rDNA, 16S rDNA and COI data indicate a close relation to Eenymeenymyzostoma cirripedium, the only other species of the genus. The morphology of E. nigrocorallium is very unusual compared to that of the more conventional E. cirripedium. The new species has five pairs of extremely reduced parapodia located on the body margin and no introvert, cirri or lateral organs. Individuals are hermaphroditic, with the male and female gonads both being located dorsally in the trunk. It also has a highly developed parenchymo-muscular layer on the ventral side, and the digestive system lies in the middle part of the trunk. The egg and larval stages of Trichuris suis can be briefly characterized as follows: The egg: barrel shaped, possesses a thick shell consisting of three thick outer layers and an inner thin vitelline membrane, is operculate at each end and is unsegmented and unfertilized when freshly deposited. L. 1 within the egg: presence of an oral spear, a poorly denned oesophagus and an intestinal tract consisting of undifferentiated granulated material. L. 1 within the host: initial differentiation of an oesophagus, cell body, intestine and rectum. L. 2: further differentiation of the body organs and the appearance of the rudiments of the reproductive system. L. 3: initial development of reproductive system and development of a cloaca in the male thus distinguishing the sexes. L. 4: differentiation of reproductive system into vagina, uterus, oviduct and ovary in the female, and testis, vas deferens, ejaculatory duct, spicule and spicular muscle, sheath and tube in the male. L. 5 or adult stage: completed development of the sexual organs including formation of the vulval orifice and eggs in the female and seminal vesicle in the male.

Mitochondria are small, energy-producing structures vital to the energy needs of the body. Genetic mutations cause mitochondria to fail to produce the energy needed by cells and organs which can cause severe disease and death. These genetic mutations are likely to be in the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), or possibly in the nuclear DNA (nDNA). The goal of this review is to assess the current understanding of mitochondrial diseases. This review focuses on the pathology, causes, risk factors, symptoms, prevalence data, symptomatic treatments, and new research aimed at possible preventions and/or treatments of mitochondrial diseases. Mitochondrial myopathies are mitochondrial diseases that cause prominent muscular symptoms such as muscle weakness and usually present with a multitude of symptoms and can affect virtually all organ systems. There is no cure for these diseases as of today. Treatment is generally supportive and emphasizes symptom management. Mitochondrial diseases occur infrequently and hence research funding levels tend to be low in comparison with more common diseases. On the positive side, quite a few genetic defects responsible for mitochondrial diseases have been identified, which are in turn being used to investigate potential treatments. Speech therapy, physical therapy, and respiratory therapy have been used in mitochondrial diseases with variable results. These therapies are not curative and at best help with maintaining a patient’s current abilities to move and function.
