A novel coating method for the GaN-MOCVD graphite susceptor is proposed in the paper, which means that the upper surface and sides of the graphite susceptor are covered with a low emissivity material coating, and the surface under the susceptor is covered with a high emissivity SiC coating. By using finite element analysis software COMSOL Multiphysics, the temperature field of the susceptors without coating, with common SiC coating, and with improved coating is obtained and compared, which shows that the susceptor with the improved coating not only increases the heating efficiency of the heater, but also improves the temperature uniformity of the substrate, which can be of great benefit to the film growth. In addition, this improved coating for the susceptor has the same heating sensitivity as the common SiC coating.

Based on electromagnetic and temperature field models of nonlinear ferromagnetic materials, this paper conducts a finite element analysis of the induction heating process of PC steel bar, thus obtaining the change curves of temperature, active power, heating efficiency and power density. The main factors and mechanisms affecting the heating efficiency and the temperature uniformity are analyzed systematically by a combination of the simulation result and the experimental fact. This work is expected to contribute significantly for optimizing the key parameters of induction heating production of PC steel bar.

On-site experience suggests the possibility of condensation of the moisture in Current transformers (CTs) which is impossible theoretically if temperature distribution in the CT is uniform. In order to study the temperature distribution in a typical CT, finite element analysis software (COMSOL Multiphysics) is used to obtain the temperature distribution of the outer surface and inside of SF6 in CT in different ambient temperatures (20 °C to-10 °C). Besides, experiments are conducted to obtain the temperature of different positions on the CT surface that correspond to conductor, shell, spacer and porcelain bushing that are inside the CT with different ambient temperature. Both simulation and experiments show that temperature distribution in the CT is non-uniform, and the closer the part is to the conductor, the higher the temperature. Furthermore, maximum temperature difference remains about 35 °C in both simulation and experiments with different ambient temperatures from 20 °C to-10 °C.

The temperature and stress fields of reactive powder concrete under high temperature are investigated using finite element analysis software COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS. In this simulation, the influence of variation of thermal parameters with temperature on the temperature and stress distribution is taken into account. The temperature and stress distribution are obtained. And the variation rule of numerical results shows very good agreement with the experimental data.

Natural convection of a magneto hydrodynamic nanofluid in a porous cavity in the presence of a magnetic field is investigated. The two vertical side walls are held isothermally at temperatures Th and Tc, while the horizontal walls of the outer cone are adiabatic. The governing equations obtained with the Boussinesq approximation are solved using Comsol Multiphysics finite element analysis and simulation software. Impact of Rayleigh number (Ra), Hartmann number (Ha) and nanofluid volume fraction (ϕ) are depicted. Results indicated that temperature gradient increases considerably with enhance of Ra and ϕ but it reduces with increases of Ha.
