Emergence of a firm’s strategy is of central concern to both Strategy Process (SP) and Strategy-as-Practice (SAP) scholars. While SP scholars view strategy emergence as a long-term macro conditioning process, SAP advocates concentrate on the episodic micro ‘doing’ of strategy actors in formal strategy planning settings. Neither perspective explains satisfactorily how process and practice relate in strategy emergence to produce tangible organizational outcomes. The conundrum of reconciling the macro/ micro distinction implied in process and practice stems from a shared Substantialist metaphysical commitment that attributes strategy emergence to substantive entities. In this article, we draw on Process metaphysics and the practice-turn in social philosophy and theory to propose a Strategy- in-Practices (SIP) perspective. SIP emphasizes how the multitude of coping actions taken at the ‘coal-face’ of an organization congeal inadvertently over time into an organizational modus operandi that provides the basis for strategizing. Strategy, therefore, inheres within socio-culturally propagated predispositions that provide the patterned consistency that makes the inadvertent emergence of a coherent strategy possible. By demonstrating how strategy is immanent in socio-culturally propagated practices, the SIP perspective overcomes the troublesome micro/ macro distinction implied in SP and SAP research. It also advances our understanding of how strategy emergence impacts organizational outcomes.

The subject of this article is the basic sociocultural determinants of behavior of an economic entity in different historical periods. The goal of this article is consists in identification and socio-philosophical analysis of the model of economic entity and their behavior. The achievement of set goal is promoted by outlining and solution of such tasks as the examination of fundamental scientific paradigms and approaches that explain the logic of behavior of the economic entity in the context of subject matter and problematic of social philosophy; substantiation and demonstration of the mechanism of determination that reveals systemic changes in the economic entity model in the classical and nonclassical socio-philosophical concepts. Currently, the complexity and nonlinearity, multidimensionality and ambiguity of interdependencies between various aspects of economic activity arouse interest not only in the sphere of private scientific research, but also draw heightened attention of the philosophers. Namely, one of the significant aspects of philosophical conceptualization of the problem of behavior of the economic entity consists in correlation between moral norms and reaching financial well-being in the decision-making processes on different levels. The article discusses the socio-philosophical theories, conceptual framework of evolution of the representations on the economic entity and their behavioral practices, as well as indicates their dependence on paradigms of a particular historical period. In the modern conditions of transformational economy, under the influence of globalization, transition towards the knowledge society, examination of the essence and role of economic entity are of crucial relevance. The philosophical approach towards solution of the articulated problem implies examination of the questions related to the rational, partially rational or irrational behavior of the economic entity, as well as detection of anonymity of economic activity within the system of social ties and relations.

The article considers the religious-philosophical anthropological paradigm in Soviet philosophy during the years of perestroika. It was during this period that Soviet idealist philosophers, forced to work under the conditions of a “scientific underground” for seven decades, first gained the right to participate legally in academic discussions. They substantiated the idea of man as a divine immortal being called to deification, restored, and approved in the official discourse the religious-philosophical anthropological model, either reinterpreting it according to the samples of Byzantine patristics, or synthesizing it with oriental beliefs. The article reconstructs and analyzes the basic provisions of this paradigm: ideas about the origin of man, the relationship of soul and body, free will, the meaning and purpose of life, the relationship between the individual and society. It is concluded that the development of late Soviet religious and philosophical anthropological thought was determined by the tendency to self-isolation, associated with the actual refusal of its supporters from a constructive dialogue with adherents of materialistic teachings, and, consequently, the refusal to develop a synthesized concept of man. Adherents of the religious-philosophical approach expressed the hope that Christian anthropology would be taken as the basis for all philosophical developments of the future. However, contrary to their plans, this paradigm did not acquire a dominant position in modern Russian philosophy, and remained an object of interest for historians of philosophy and not for experts in philosophical anthropology and social philosophy.

Strategy-as-practice research has usefully built on earlier strategy process research by taking into account the social embeddedness of strategy making. While such an approach has generated valuable insights, it has curiously left unexplored the moral dimension of practice. In this article, we show how the potential of strategy-as-practice research may be more fully realized if the moral dimension of practice is conceptualized through virtue ethics (especially MacIntyre’s version). Specifically, we first reconceptualize, through virtue ethics, the three main concepts of strategy-as-practice—practice, praxis, and practitioners—underscoring the inherently moral constitution of actions undertaken in strategy-related work. Moreover, we suggest that strategic management is viewed as a particular kind of practice (what we call “competitive institutional practice”), charged with “values articulation work” and “balancing work.” While the former articulates a good purpose for the organization, the latter seeks to care for both excellence and success through balancing “capabilities development work” with “differentiation work.” Illustrations are provided to support this argument, and several suggestions for further research are offered.

This Essai argues for the distinctive position of Strategy-as-Practice research outside the immediate family of Strategy Process. Strategy-as-Practice's fascination with the phenomenon of strategy itself takes it beyond traditional Process perspectives. Relying on the `sociological eye', Strategy-as-Practice treats strategy like any other practice in society, capable of being studied from many different angles. Under the four themes of praxis, practices, practitioners and the profession of strategy as an institutional field, the Essai demonstrates the potential range of research topics, performance notions and methodologies within Strategy-as-Practice. It concludes by proposing five implications of the sociological eye for the conduct of Strategy-as-Practice research, highlighting particularly social connections and relationships, embeddedness, irony, problematized notions of performance and a respect for continuity.

There is not enough systematic philosophical research in the scientific works that fully consider the problems of the corporate education forming and peculiarities of its functioning. The article presents the socio-philosophical approach to analyze the problems of the corporate education humanization in the modern information society. To understand the corporate education as a socio-philosophical phenomenon, it is necessary to find out the prerequisites for its emergence, conditions of its formation and development process. To do this, a systematic philosophical approach should be used based on the research analysis both in social philosophy, and related fields. The study of this problem is a complex cognitive process necessary for the cor porate education philosophical analysis. The article considers the basic categories for the socio-philosophical analysis of this phenomenon, such as, «social reality», «education», «continuing education», «corporate education» etc. The authors conclude that there is a steady trend of institutionalization and humanization of this social phenomenon as a result of the corporate education actively developing problem in the context of the information and communication society. An analysis of modern foreign and domestic scientific literature allows concluding that each country has a certain specificity of the corporate education, which is due to cultural characteristics, mentality, economy and the technology and production development level.

Welfare is one of the significant problems in human life. All aspects of human life politically will always be related, both as elements and indicators of welfare conditions. Consequently, the state is an organization and authority that can provide a measure and effectively regulate all efforts in the realization of people's welfare. However, practically "people's welfare" in Indonesia is still in a quarrel state with the targets-setting. This research is library research with a hermeneutic-philosophical approach. Political Theology, as a branch of the Philosophy of Religion, will be used as the primary approach by involving methodical elements that are balanced and consistent with research. Additionally, the involvement of other scientific disciplines such as political philosophy, social philosophy, and economics will enrich this research. This research shows that the efforts carried out to realize the welfare of the people is dominantly incompatible with the needs of the subjects receiving welfare facilities. The source of this problem is relying on the perspective of governmental values. New awareness and responsibility are needed to build a structure with a divine and human nature. This awareness arises as an implementation form of worship to God and also responsibility for that worship to fellow human beings.

particularly over the last 40 years. In my way of understanding social pedagogy I draw on multiple sources of inspiration. Theoretically, I am inspired by German social philosophy and German pedagogical traditions. In this article I want to show how some of these inspirations could be transformed into practice in a way that both the community and the individual benefit. Drawing upon three different conceptual models of social pedagogy, I will discuss that the pedagogical approach in combination with a social and philosophical approach have a broader ethical and human potential than former models. Social pedagogical work is based on many different values related to attitudes among professionals, related to community and community building, and related to relations and social interaction. This calls for reflections on the relation between the individual and the group, on concepts of the ‘other’, on education and professionalism.

This paper examines the problem of nationalism in Nigeria construed as the search for a basis on which the members of the society can claim a sense of belonging, identity and common purpose. There is a problem of the national question here because ethnicity, corruption, disobedience to law and order, disdain for the rule of law and accountability and the disregard for the value of human life have undermined the social order and eventually created an army of the vulnerable and marginal peoples that can be manipulated for parochial ends. The apparent underperformance of the various instruments of the state such as the police, national assembly, appointed ministers, law courts, prisons, etc, due to inefficiency, injustice, under-funding, politicization and social dissatisfaction have threatened the unity of Nigeria and highlighted deficits in the social order that have made Nigeria to appear as a contested construct or category. Given the above we seek a philosophical approach to building a social system or social philosophy of national integration.
