Autonomous exploration is a key step toward real robotic autonomy. Among various approaches for autonomous exploration, frontier-based methods are most commonly used. One efficient method of frontier detection exploits the idea of the rapidly-exploring random tree and uses tree edges to search for frontiers. However, this method usually needs to consume a lot of memory resources and searches for frontiers slowly in the environments where random trees are not easy to grow (unfavorable environments). In this article, a sampling-based multi-tree fusion algorithm for frontier detection is proposed. Firstly, the random tree’s growing and storage rules are changed so that the disadvantage of its slow growing under unfavorable environments is overcome. Secondly, a block structure is proposed to judge whether tree nodes in a block play a decisive role in frontier detection, so that a large number of redundant tree nodes can be deleted. Finally, two random trees with different growing rules are fused to speed up frontier detection. Experimental results in both simulated and real environments demonstrate that our algorithm for frontier detection consumes fewer memory resources and shows better performances in unfavorable environments.

AbstractDalmatian turkey is a slow growing breed kept in free range systems. It is a type of “old fashioned poultry” whose meat is present on the market and accepted by consumers. However, no information about its meat quality and fatty acid profile is available. The chemical composition of the meat was influenced by gender and meat type and these differences could be important from the consumer’s point of view. Fatty acid composition was characterized by the predominance of n6 fatty acids, especially C18:2n6 and a high n6/n3 ratio. Increased time of storage strongly reduced the long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LC PUFA) and increased atherogenicity and thrombogenicity indices (AI and TI) in thigh tissue. The content of beneficial n3 PUFA was influenced by meat type, with lower values of C18:3n3 and higher values of LC PUFA in the breast compared to the thighs. The potential intake of LC PUFA of comercial turkey in the human diet was lower in comparison to poultry fed with complete feed mixtures. An interesting fact was the higher DHA values in comparison with DPA values in breast tissue, which is characteristic of old poultry breeds. The Dalmatian turkey is a highly valued traditional product and an important archaic breed for gene preservation and biodiversity. Nevertheless, Dalmatian turkey meat could be even further improved by minimal dietary manipulation to become a product with additional health promoting effects.

Advances in recent hardware technology have permitted to document transactions and other pieces of information of everyday life at an express pace. In addition of speed up and storage capacity, real-life perceptions tend to transform over time. However, there are so much prospective and highly functional values unseen in the vast volume of data. For this kind of applications conventional data mining is not suitable, so they should be tuned and changed or designed with new algorithms. Big data computing is inflowing to the category of most hopeful technologies that shows the way to new ways of thinking and decision making. This epoch of big data helps users to take benefit out of all available data to gain more precise systematic results or determine latent information, and then make best possible decisions. Depiction from a broad set of workloads, the author establishes a set of classifying measures based on the storage architecture, processing types, processing techniques and the tools and technologies used.

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the quantum speedup, non-Markovianity and formation of a system-environment bound state. Previous results show a monotonic relation between these three such that providing bound states with more negative energy can lead to a higher degree of non-Markovianity, and hence to a greater speed of quantum evolution. By studying dynamics of a dissipative two-level system or a V-type three-level system, when similar and additional systems are present, we reveal that the quantum speedup is exclusively related to the formation of the system-environment bound state, while the non-Markovian effect of the system dynamics is neither necessary nor sufficient to speed up the quantum evolution. On the other hand, it is shown that only the formation of the system-environment bound state plays a decisive role in the acceleration of the quantum evolution.

To speed up the ontology development process, ontology developers are reusing all available ontological and non-ontological resources, such as classification schemes, thesauri, lexicons, and so forth, that have already reached some consensus. Non-ontological resources are highly heterogeneous in their data model and storage system (or implementation). The reuse of these non-ontological resources involves their re-engineering into ontologies. This paper presents a method for re-engineering non-ontological resources into ontologies. The method is based on so-called re-engineering patterns, which define a procedure that transforms the non-ontological resource components into ontology representational primitives using WordNet for making explicit the relations among the non-ontological resource terms. The paper also provides the description of NOR2O, a software library that implements the transformations suggested by the patterns. Finally, it depicts an evaluation of the method, patterns, and software library proposed.

Understanding unsteady flow phenomena in compressor stages often requires the use of time-accurate CFD simulations. Due to the inherent differences in blade pitch between adjacent blade rows, the flow conditions at any given instant in adjacent blade rows differ. Simplified computation of the stage represented by a single blade in each row and simple periodic boundary conditions is therefore not possible. Depending on the blade counts, it may be necessary to model the entire annulus of the stage; however, this requires considerable computational time and memory resources. Several methods for modeling the transient flow in turbomachinery stages which require a minimal number of blade passages per row, and therefore reduced computational demands, have been presented in the literature. Recently, some of these methods have become available in commercial CFD solvers. This paper provides a brief description of the methods used, and how they are applied to a transonic compressor stage. The methods are evaluated and compared in terms of computational efficiency and storage requirements, and comparison is made to steady stage simulations. Comparisons to overall performance data and two-dimensional LDV measurements are used to assess the predictive capabilities of the methods. Computed flow features are examined, and compared with reported measurements.

This paper presents optimized rapidly exploring random trees A* (ORRT-A*) method to improve the performance of RRT-A* method to compute safe and optimal path with low time complexity for autonomous mobile robots in partially known complex environments. ORRT-A* method combines morphological dilation, goal-biased RRT, A* and cubic spline algorithms. Goal-biased RRT is modified by introducing additional step-size to speed up the generation of the tree towards the goal after which A* is applied to obtain the shortest path. Morphological dilation technique is used to provide safety for the robots while cubic spline interpolation is used to smoothen the path for easy navigation. Results indicate that ORRT-A* method demonstrates improved path quality compared to goal-biased RRT and RRT-A* methods. ORRT-A* is therefore a promising method in achieving autonomous ground vehicle navigation in unknown environments

Children’s block building has long been a focus of psychological research, in part because block building skills are thought to be useful indicators of other abilities such as representational thinking. Block building skills are assumed to progress through developmental stages and a number of measures have been developed to assess these skills. In this article, we critically review the literature on two topics related to children’s block building. First, we examine the literature on developmental changes in block play with a focus on the approximate age trends for various block construction abilities. Second, we provide an overview of the scales used to assess block construction complexity such as the Block Building Measure, Building Performance Coding, and Block Structure Complexity Scoring Instrument and propose a conceptual model of the skills involved in block building. Based on this review, we recommend ways to refine existing research methods, improve scale validity, and combine different indices to establish a more comprehensive measure of children’s block construction.

In consideration of the current MP2P network disturbance from frequent location changes of the mobile nodes, the limited computing power and storage capacity, this paper proposes a flexible strategy of partition management by assigning different functions to nodes according to some standards, regarding a subnet as a unit and using super-nodes to manage subnets. In order to speed up the data transmission and replacement efficiency, data is processed with partial network coding technology. Additionally, a trans-subnet query algorithm is proposed to link subnets, conduct information exchange between subnets and resource location. Results of the experiment manifested that this strategy can efficiently increase the resource download success rate and hit rate, reduce the average delay, improve the content distribution efficiency of MP2P networks, and simultaneously enhance system robustness.
