Does Emotional Intelligence Predict Leadership Effectiveness? An Exploration in Non-Western Context

The study focuses on understanding the emotional intelligence and leadership linkages in a non-Western context. The study was conducted on a sample of 230 supervisors and subordinates drawn from branches of the banking sector in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The study employs three-dimensional emotional intelligence model developed by Singh and Chadha. Emotional competency and emotional sensitivity were found to be significant antecedents of leadership effectiveness in the context under reference. The knowledge gained from this research is expected to increase the understanding of effective leadership and help produce powerful tools for the selection, and training and development of leaders, potentially enhancing organizational climate and performance.

Background: Emotional intelligence is the ability to feel and understand more effectively against emotional sensitivity that includes the ability to motivate oneself or others, self-control, able to understand the feelings of others effectively and able to manage emotions that can be used to guide the mind to make the best decisions. Religiosity is an understanding of religion in a person that is seen through a person's knowledge and beliefs about his religion and is carried out in worship activities. This study aims to determine the correlation between the level of religiosity and emotional intelligence in students of Madrasah Aliyah (MA) in Denpasar. Material and Methods: The participant of this research amounted to 90 students of MA in Denpasar. This study used an observational analytic study with design of cross- sectional study. Measuring the level of religiosity using the scale of Religiosity from Glock & Stark that has been modified in Islam and emotional intelligence is measured using the Emotional Competency Inventory (ECI) scale with a Likert model. Data was analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: Level of religiosity 67% with high category and 32,2% with medium category. Emotional intelligence 18,9% with high category and 81,1% with medium category. There is significant mild positive correlation between religiosity and emotional intelligence (r = 0.272; p = 0.010). Conclusion: There is a significant positive mild correlation between the level of religiosity with emotional intelligence.

Banking is one of the fastest-growing sectors because of its contribution to the economy, however, today employee retention is demurring for banks and they are striving to fulfil this challenge. It has been observed from the past few years that it is due to the lack of knowledge related to the proper implementation of HR practices in the commercial banks. The main purpose behind conducting the research is to understand the effect of compensation (C), working environment (WE), training and development (T&D), and performance appraisal (PA) on employee retention (ER). The study used convenience sampling with a sample size of 200 and data was collected from the employees of different commercial banks located in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The empirical results showed that WE, PA, and COM have a significant positive relationship with the ER whereas T&A has the insignificant one.

The concept of Training, Motivation, and Performance are the variables examined under the study to evaluate their effect in the Banking Sector. Productivity is one of the most significant elements that influence the organization's general performance, which compromises with different elements like training, attitude, motivation, and work environment for creativity contribute to the overall success of the employees. The current examination explores the impact of worker proficiency and efficiency of training and motivation. A questionnaire was administered to employees of the banking sector to identify the perceived level of training and motivation that emphasizes the overall performance. The three variables were estimated on a five-point Likert scale choice. Five were the most important (strongly agree), and one being the least important (strongly disagree). The sample of the questionnaire schedule was self-prepared. The study result shows that training and motivation positively impact the effectiveness and efficiency of the employees. Also, the study features the training and development procedure of the financial area that should utilize to proper workers and increment their performance and analyzes the needs of training and motivation in the workplace.

Background: Emotional Intelligence (EI), often measured as an Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ), refers to skills that provide the ability to balance emotions and reason, which provides long-term happiness. Focus on Intelligence Quotient (IQ) in the current era has to be changed for the betterment of society. Objectives was to assess and compare Emotional Quotient (EQ) among students who excel in dance, sports, and academics.Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted among three groups of minimum 30 students who are excellent in dance, academics or sports. EQ was assessed using a 22 item EQ test which measures the psychological dimensions such as emotional sensitivity, emotional maturity and emotional competency and also total EQ.Results: Out of 91 students, maximum students were having extremely high EQ in the domains of emotional sensitivity 36 (39.6%), emotional competency 88 (96.7%) and total EQ 85 (93.4%). Dancers showed significantly high EQ in the domains of emotional maturity, emotional competency, and overall EQ compared to sportspersons and academicians. Increased age, agriculture and business occupation of mother and presence of another sibling were significantly associated with emotional intelligence of students.Conclusions: This study showed that inclusion of extracurricular activities like dance and sports along with academics may improve the self-confidence and increased awareness about one’s own emotions, leading to raised EQ.

The inheritance and innovation of ancient architecture decoration art is an important way for the development of the construction industry. The data process of traditional ancient architecture decoration art is relatively backward, which leads to the obvious distortion of the digitalization of ancient architecture decoration art. In order to improve the digital effect of ancient architecture decoration art, based on neural network, this paper combines the image features to construct a neural network-based ancient architecture decoration art data system model, and graphically expresses the static construction mode and dynamic construction process of the architecture group. Based on this, three-dimensional model reconstruction and scene simulation experiments of architecture groups are realized. In order to verify the performance effect of the system proposed in this paper, it is verified through simulation and performance testing, and data visualization is performed through statistical methods. The result of the study shows that the digitalization effect of the ancient architecture decoration art proposed in this paper is good.

Sociologically, emotional intelligence is an important part of this study to build leadership social behavior in the management of Islamic education, so that it can color the dynamics of leadership so far and can increase individual loyalty in the organization. Therefore, a leader in mobilizing, motivating and inspiring individuals in the organization requires an emotional approach as a model to awaken individuals in improving their performance culture. Thus the role and actions of leadership in various systems of Islamic education are essentially actualization processes of internalization values inherent in his personality, especially regarding (emotional intelligence). At the theoretical level, emotional intelligence is an important part in building ideal leadership. Portrait of emotional intelligence-based leadership can give birth to two leadership models, including: a) emotional intelligence-based leadership is seen as more effective, and has a strong influence on individual loyalty in Islamic education - even high and low emotional intelligence also affects the high and low loyalty and performance culture. b) the emotional intelligence of a leader cannot be measured by the level of education, even someone's degree. Therefore, it does not guarantee that someone who has a high position or has a high title has high emotional intelligence.

The Paris avant-garde milieu from which both Cirque Calder/Calder's Circus and Painlevé’s early films emerged was a cultural intersection of art and the twentieth-century life sciences. In turning to the style of current scientific journals, the Paris surrealists can be understood as engaging the (life) sciences not simply as a provider of normative categories of materiality to be dismissed, but as a companion in apprehending the “reality” of a world beneath the surface just as real as the one visible to the naked eye. I will focus in this essay on two modernist practices in new media in the context of the history of the life sciences: Jean Painlevé’s (1902–1989) science films and Alexander Calder's (1898–1976) work in three-dimensional moving art and performance—the Circus. In analyzing Painlevé’s work, I discuss it as exemplary of a moment when life sciences and avant-garde technical methods and philosophies created each other rather than being classified as separate categories of epistemological work. In moving from Painlevé’s films to Alexander Calder's Circus, Painlevé’s cinematography remains at the forefront; I use his film of one of Calder's performances of the Circus, a collaboration the men had taken two decades to complete. Painlevé’s depiction allows us to see the elements of Calder's work that mark it as akin to Painlevé’s own interest in a modern experimental organicism as central to the so-called machine-age. Calder's work can be understood as similarly developing an avant-garde practice along the line between the bestiary of the natural historian and the bestiary of the modern life scientist.

Tomography is a non-invasive, non-intrusive imaging technique allowing the visualization of phase dynamics in industrial and biological processes. This article reviews progress in Electrical Capacitance Volume Tomography (ECVT). ECVT is a direct 3D visualizing technique, unlike three-dimensional imaging, which is based on stacking 2D images to obtain an interpolated 3D image. ECVT has recently matured for real time, non-invasive 3-D monitoring of processes involving materials with strong contrast in dielectric permittivity. In this article, ECVT sensor design, optimization and performance of various sensors seen in literature are summarized. Qualitative Analysis of ECVT image reconstruction techniques has also been presented.

The study evaluates the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Effectiveness through a Systematic Review of Literature. The relationship has been evaluated in two steps. First, a Systematic review of literature was done to provide a theoretical framework to link the dimensions of Emotional Intelligence to the elements of effective leadership. Meta-analysis was then used to consolidate empirical evidence of the relationship. The studies for the meta-analysis were sourced from Pro Quest and EBSCO and the correlation coefficients of the studies were analysed. Only articles that presented the direct relationship between the variables were included in the study. The results of the analysis revealed a strong, statistically significant relationship between emotional intelligence and effective leadership. The findings of the study provide evidence for the proposition that Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Effectiveness are interrelated.
