This paper examined the impact of coupon proneness and redemption efforts on the intention to redeem or use mobile coupons from the smartphones in a sample of business students at Florida National University. The descriptive analysis, which was based on the Theory of Reasoned Action, Theory of Plan Behavior, Acquisition-Transaction Utility Theory, Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, and The Technology Acceptance Model Theory, used the coupon proneness, redemption efforts and the intention to redeem or use mobile coupons scales adapted to mobile coupons setting. Structural equation modeling revealed two subcomponents of the coupon proneness (coupon propensity and enjoyment) and high and significant values of coupon propensity and enjoyment on the intention to redeem or use mobile coupons for the groups of students. However, the impact of redemption efforts on the intention to redeem or use mobile coupons was negative as expected, but weak and not significant.

The study determined the impact of the three programs of the School of Saint Anthony’s Socio Civic Action Programs to their recipients. The recipients involved in this study include the parents and pupils of the GABAY or Guidance and Basic Assistance for the Youth program (Saturday tutorial and feeding program), students enrolled in the school’s free vocational programs, and the less fortunate scholars of the Student Financial Aid program. The survey approach was conducted to around 200 GABAY students and parents, 92 vocational students and 15 SICAP scholars. Data was collected through frequency count, charts, tables, and graphs. The gathered data presented an overview of the different impacts and benefits experienced by the respondents under study. Data revealed how the GABAY program helped in the mental, social and values development of the students based on the perspectives of the parents and their children. The Vocational program, on the other hand, helped its students better develop themselves leading them to a positive insight of having a better life ahead. Positive responses were also gathered from the SICAP scholars with regard to their academic, values, social and spiritual development. It was found necessary for organizations to support different outreach activities like the SSA SICAP Foundation considering the positive impacts these activities bring to their recipients.

Background: The impact of concurrent osteoarthritis on mobility and mortality in individuals with Parkinson’s disease is unknown. Objective: We sought to understand to what extent osteoarthritis severity influenced mobility across time and how osteoarthritis severity could affect mortality in individuals with Parkinson’s disease. Methods: In a retrospective observational longitudinal study, data from the Parkinson’s Foundation Quality Improvement Initiative was analyzed. We included 2,274 persons with Parkinson’s disease. The main outcomes were the effects of osteoarthritis severity on functional mobility and mortality. The Timed Up and Go test measured functional mobility performance. Mortality was measured as the osteoarthritis group effect on survival time in years. Results: More individuals with symptomatic osteoarthritis reported at least monthly falls compared to the other groups (14.5% vs. 7.2% without reported osteoarthritis and 8.4% asymptomatic/minimal osteoarthritis, p = 0.0004). The symptomatic group contained significantly more individuals with low functional mobility (TUG≥12 seconds) at baseline (51.5% vs. 29.0% and 36.1%, p < 0.0001). The odds of having low functional mobility for individuals with symptomatic osteoarthritis was 1.63 times compared to those without reported osteoarthritis (p < 0.0004); and was 1.57 times compared to those with asymptomatic/minimal osteoarthritis (p = 0.0026) after controlling pre-specified covariates. Similar results hold at the time of follow-up while changes in functional mobility were not significant across groups, suggesting that osteoarthritis likely does not accelerate the changes in functional mobility across time. Coexisting symptomatic osteoarthritis and Parkinson’s disease seem to additively increase the risk of mortality (p = 0.007). Conclusion: Our results highlight the impact and potential additive effects of symptomatic osteoarthritis in persons with Parkinson’s disease.

This article discusses impact of UMNO-PAS political cooperation towards Islamic development in Malaysia from 1973 until 1978. The success of political cooperation in 1973 was the result of both UMNO’s leader, Tun Abdul Razak and PAS’s leader, Asri Muda willingness to explore a new political approach compared to what was being practiced at that time. Both leaders then started the development of a government known as the ‘Cooperation Government’ with the combination of UMNO and PAS in 1973 and later on, the development of the National Front’s (BN) Coalition Government in 1974. The Islamic religion benefits the most from the development of the Coalition Government which is a favourable gain for the Malays in Malaysia. Henceforth, this article will discuss in detail on the impact of the political cooperation between UMNO and PAS within the cooperation period. The methods used for this research is by interview and also by referring to secondary sources which are analyzed in a historical descriptive manner that is normally practiced in historical research. At the end of this research it is established that there are profound impacts to the Islamic religion within the UMNO-PAS cooperation period within 1973 to 1978 for example, the television and radio station beginning starting their programmes with the recitation from Quranic verses, the promulgation of ‘Adhan, alcohols are no longer served in official government’s function, lottery companies are not allowed to promote and announce the lottery results in official government’s media, the establishment of Islamic institution, the strengthening of Islamic education and the appropriate change in the relevant ministry’s symbols. This article can be utilized by subsequent researchers who wish to study the impact of political cooperation between UMNO and PAS.
