Objective. Today, obesity and depression are two major illnesses that are on the rise all over the world and threaten human health. This research was done to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and depression among Ahvaz high school female students.Method. In a descriptive-analytical study using stratified random sampling, 400 female high school students in academic year of 2013-2014 were picked and their height and weight were measured. BMI was classified based on World Health Organization classification. To assess the severity of depression, Beck depression questionnaire was used. In order to analyze the data, descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation test were used.Results. In terms of BMI 9% of students were slim, 77% were at an acceptable level, and 14% were overweight. Also, the prevalence of depression was 86.20% major depression and 13.79% moderate depression for obese persons, 10.41% major depression and 70.83% moderate depression for overweight persons, 8.78% major depression and 12.97% moderate depression for normal weight persons, and 9% moderate depression for slim persons. The relationship between BMI and depression among high school students is positive and significant (P<0.001;  r=0.555).Conclusion. There is a positive and significant relationship between BMI and the severity of depression among Ahvaz high school female students.

Abstract Many studies have indicated that single-sex classrooms promote female students’ self-confidence and achievement in various professions, including professions where their rate of employment is low, such as mathematics and other exact sciences. The purpose of the present study is to examine the relationship between single-sex classrooms and math achievements among both female and male students. The study population included 608 students learning in the fifth-ninth grades, who attended state-religious schools in the southern region of Israel and came from families who had similar socioeconomic status. The students answered a short demographic questionnaire and their math teacher filled out each student’s score achieved in the regional math summative assessment. The findings showed no relationship between classroom type and boys’ achievement in mathematics, while a significant relationship was found between learning in single-sex classroom and higher math achievements among girls in elementary school. In middle school, however, no significant difference was found.

This study aimed at investigating the relationship between hours of homework, stress, and mood disturbance in senior high school students, 141 boys and 228 girls, recruited from high schools across Victoria, Australia. Participants' ages ranged from 16 to 18 years ( M = 16.6, SD = .6). A 1-wk. homework diary, a Self-reported Stress scale, and the Profile of Mood States were administered to students. Analysis showed that the number of hours spent completing homework ranged from 10 to 65 hours per week ( M = 37.0, SD = 12.2). Independent samples t-test analyses showed significant sex differences, with female students scoring higher on hours of homework, stress, and mood disturbance compared to male students. Pearson product-moment correlations were significant and positive for hours of homework with stress and for hours of homework with mood disturbance.

This investigation tested the relationship between level of cognitive anxiety and degree of mental errors in a sport setting. Subjects were female high school varsity softball players. The dimensions of cognitive anxiety, somatic anxiety, and self-confidence were assessed by the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2). Coaches evaluated mental errors during game play by ratings on a 10-point bipolar scale. Final subject selection was determined by dichotomizing individuals who scored lower on the scale (1-4) and higher on the scale (7-10). Analysis of variance yielded a single significant main effect which indicated that the two mental-error groups differed in cognitive anxiety. This supports the major prediction tested. Discussion centers on the apparent benefits of investigating variables more intimately associated with the attentional/cognitive disruption process versus focusing solely on objective sport outcome.

Introduction: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between Self-compassion and precompetitive anxiety among female athlete students. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study. Two hundred and fifty-three female students (140 taekwondo & 113 karate) were selected among athletes present at the 14th Student Cultural Sports Olympiad. Self-compassion Scale and Competitive State Anxiety–2 were used in this study before competing in games to measure the aforementioned theoretical constructs. Results: The obtained results revealed a significant relationship between pre-competitive anxiety and Self-compassion. Moreover, the components of this characteristic positively predicted self-confidence variance; however, this prediction reversed with somatic and cognitive anxiety. Conclusion: Based on the current study results, Self-compassion plays a moderating role in the pre-competitive anxiety of female martial arts athletes. Therefore, improving this characteristic should be considered to promote self-confidence and reduce the pre-competitive anxiety in these athletes.

Referring to the result of a preliminary study in 2015, vocational high school YBPK3 Garut had many students from broken home families. One of the school counsellors in that school revealed that eleventh-grade students were in the highest number of broken home families; 58 students from the total of 209 students (27.75%). These students had more authority and self-confidence as seniors, were more courageous to the teachers, and were not yet concentrating on their study such as twelve graders. The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between students from broken home families and deviant behaviour in vocational high school YPBP3 Garut. This research belongs to correlational descriptive study which aims at finding out the relationship between students from broken home families and deviant behaviour at school. The findings of the research showed that there was a relationship between students from broken home families and deviant behaviour at school. Broken home families mainly resulted in teenager delinquency or deviant behaviour at school. It could conclude that there was a relationship between students from broken home families and deviant behaviour at school. Broken home families can become the main factor of misbehaviour at school. Meanwhile, divorced parents is the most significant reason of the students’ deviant behavior (85.7%)

OHI-S is a state of oral and dental hygiene measured by a debris score and calculus of a person's teeth. Gingiva is part of the outer periodontal tissue. Self-confidence is a positive attitude of someone who enables him to develop a positive assessment of himself and his environment. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship of OHI-S status and gingival health to self-confidence in class VII adolescents at Unaaha 2 Public High School. Type of correlative analytic research with cross sectional approach. Data collection techniques are questionnaire and examination. The sample amounted to 103 people. Analysis techniques with the SPSS program and statistical tests using chi square. The test results of the relationship of OHI-S status to confidence with the chi square analysis test. The value of ρ-value = 0.00 <α = 0.05 thus H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted so that there is a relationship between the status of OHI-S and self confidence in adolescents of class VII at Unaaha Public High School 2. The test results on the relationship of gingival health to self-confidence with the chi-square analysis value ρ-value = 0.00 <α = 0.05 thus H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted so that there is a relationship between gingival health status and confidence in class VII youth at Unaaha 2 Public High School.

Background: Intelligence is one of the categories that has long been considered by human beings and is one of the most important factors that lead to individual differences. One of the differences between individuals that leads to the emergence of unique characteristics in them. The research was to find relationship between intelligence (logic-mathematics) and media literacy among high school females. Materials and Methods: In terms of objective, this research is an applied one and, in terms of method, it is a correlation research. So 357 female students at seventh grade at high schools in Tehran's district 4 education organization were selected by Morgan table among 4959 by cluster randomly sampling method. The research tools involved Gardner's Multiple Intelligences with a reliability value of 0.92, media literacy questionnaire (Hasankhani, 2018) with a reliability value of 0.86. Results: The relationship between intelligence (logic-mathematics) and media literacy was analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient by SPSS21. It was revealed that the positive and significant relationship between intelligence (logic-mathematics) and media literacy among high school females. Conclusion: Possessing media literacy and mastering various softwares, especially in the field of methodology and statistics, will play an important role in shaping the structure of knowledge in individuals. Keywords: logic-mathematics Intelligences, Media literacy
