The impact of the pandemic has influenced every aspect of people’s life. One of the positive impacts of the pandemic in Indonesia is the existence of the community initiative to prevent the COVID-19 spreading. This article aims to explore several initiatives coming from the society in relation to COVID-19 and the lesson learned for the society to have preparedness in facing health disasters. The data come from the 39 online news on the internet, the data was then analysed using a content analysis method. The authors found that Indonesian community initiative can be distinguished by two purposes i.e. to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and to help the vulnerability group cope with the economic impact of COVID-19. Furthermore, mostly the initiative originally came from society without the intervention of the government. It is important to note that the collaboration between the government, both the centre and local, and the society should be strengthened.

Conducts of by-elections in recent times have been fraught with a lot of security challenges. This has been as a result of the violence that characterized the conduct of by-elections in recent times in Ghana. Violence during by-elections in Ghana plays a vital role in securing election victories for political parties. In all the by-elections characterized by violence in Ghana, they were won by parties that were accused of inciting the violence. The main tenets of election violence as identified by the paper included, actors, motives, timing, consequences, and patterns. The paper adopted the content analysis method in its investigation of the two violent by-elections in Ghana. The paper revealed that there was a correlation between violence during by-elections and victories of incumbent parties. This was because, in the two by-elections understudy, those accused of starting the violence and using national security operatives won the elections. The paper also found out that by-election violence impacted negatively on Ghana’s democratic maturity in several ways, such as; low voter turnout, weakening of democratic foundation and breeding an atmosphere of insecurity. Finally, the paper also revealed that political parties especially those in government resort to violence during by-elections in Ghana because they fear losing it will mean the government was underperforming as argued out by Feigert and Norris and also because they want to add to their tally in parliament.

This article purports to examine how the expectations of the educational reforms in Moroccan higher education have impacted the teaching and testing of tertiary level grammar. In particular, the hypothesis we defend here is that teaching and testing tertiary level grammar remain constant; therefore, the impact of the various reforms on tertiary level testing is of little consequence. In pursuance of this aim, this paper uses a qualitative approach and content analysis method of the course descriptions of the grammar courses that were suggested across the various reforms. The course descriptions we attempt to analyze are adopted in the English Studies tracks of four major departments in Moroccan universities. The main dimensions that we look at and examine here as the measures for our comparative evaluation are; course objectives, time allotted, the syllabi they contain, teaching methodology, and evaluation modes. The findings confirm that the various reforms, have had little impact on the teaching and testing of grammar in higher education. The paper concludes by suggesting a few pedagogical recommendations vis-à-vis the teaching and testing of grammar in Moroccan Departments of English studies.

This paper examined the problems bedeviling the operations of the Nigerian ports before the concession programme of 2006 and how well the concession has improved the performance of the Ports system. Data were collected through secondary methods such as annual reports, as well as interview and media reports.  The content analysis method was adopted in analyzing the data. The findings of the study showed that the concession may for all its worth have been able to earn more income for the government but the Authority has failed to keep its part of the contract agreement especially as it concerns the provision of the enabling environment for port operations; infrastructures were still lacking, dwell time has not substantially reduced and corruption still soared high. The paper submits that the regulators of the maritime system need to do more to ensure that it is not paying lip service to its vision of being the leading port in Africa.

Drone attacks inside Pakistan remained the core issue in international relations and communication scholarship. This study aims to investigate the editorial treatment of US drone attacks inside Pakistan. The researcher has employed a content analysis method to examine the frequency and themes within the editorial published by The Nation and Daily Times from February 18th 2008 to February 28th 2011. The study found that Daily Times supports the Pakistani government stance on US drone attacks inside Pakistan and The Nation as opponent to the government regarding US drone attacks inside Pakistan. The findings imply that media in Pakistan is presenting diverse and pluralistic voices on political issues specifically on an international issue of drone attacks. In this way, its role in public opinion formations cannot be under estimated in the working democracy of Pakistan.

The integration of navigation systems and smart tour guide apps has gained popularity among travellers with the rapid development of the internet, mobile technology, and the wide acceptance of smartphones. The purpose of the study is twofold: (1) to assess the growth of smart tour guide apps in India and (2) to examine the tourists' experiences in using smart tour guide apps. To achieve the purpose of the study, a content analysis method was employed to analyse the users' reviews on the “Audio Odigos” and the “Trip My Way,” which are very popular tour guide apps in India. The results reveal that smart tour guide apps are more preferred than the human tour guide. An app-based tour guide facilitates exceptional experiences for accurate and useful information on historical monument tours, city tours, and destination tours. Thus, the findings can be used to improve the existing apps and develop more sophisticated apps in the future that can ensure sustainable smart tourism.
