This paper discusses about media analysis especially on language news of the current issues in both electronic and printed media of Indonesia. Focus on the gender issues on the headline news of media, the writer analyzes various types of gender insensitivity among the media as being portraited in the titles especially for such criminal cases in which women were involved both as the victims and the doer or lawbreakers. It’s a library research, in which the writer focuses on certain cases to be analyzed and collects all related data to support the analysis. Since the object of the analysis is the title of various headlines news, the theoretical approaches here are theory of semiotic and representation. The research finds out that as being represented in the titles, some media are not quite sensitive in viewing various cases happened in the society, especially related to gender inequality. The media only focused on how to get a lot of audience attention but ignoring the effects on the readers. The bias news would essentially causes and strengthens myths which only bring such benefit to a certain interest especially the power or those who control the rule. The research also finds that the power relation between men and women in the public area  also contribute in generating  such bias  statements or news, not only on the choice of words but also on  angle and gender perspective. The bias news represents the bias society.

This article reports how 18 UK and Canadian population health artificial intelligence researchers in Higher Education Institutions perceive the use of artificial intelligence systems in their research, and how this compares with their perceptions about the media portrayal of artificial intelligence systems. This is triangulated with a small scoping analysis of how UK and Canadian news articles portray artificial intelligence systems associated with health research and care. Interviewees had concerns about what they perceived as sensationalist reporting of artificial intelligence systems – a finding reflected in the media analysis. In line with Pickersgill’s concept of ‘epistemic modesty’, they considered artificial intelligence systems better perceived as non-exceptionalist methodological tools that were uncertain and unexciting. Adopting ‘epistemic modesty’ was sometimes hindered by stakeholders to whom the research is disseminated, who may be less interested in hearing about the uncertainties of scientific practice, having implications on both research and policy.

From its inception the medium of writing has been a source of moral concern. The growth of the printed media reinforced these apprehensions. Fears about the media effect on the behaviour of readers became recurring phenomena – in some cases provoking reactions characterised as a moral panic. These periodic outbursts of disquiet can be best understood as panics about the potential impact of the media on public morality. Such reactions were not simply media panics but panics about the effects of the media. The focus of anxiety was not on any particular issue but on the threat to moral authority posed by the media on the outlook and behaviour of the public. By its very existence the media appeared to represent a potential threat to the moral order. Exploring the moral dimension of this reaction is essential for the study of moral panics.

The Broadcasting Law Number 32, 2002 regulates about broadcasting media in Indonesia. Technological development that brings the media convergence era, becomes one of the biggest challenge for the broadcasting regulation in this country. One of the form of media convergence is the convergence ownership, that is the ownership merger of media company as various platform under one company name. Media Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNC) is an example for this. Using library research method, this research analyze broadcasting regulation relevance of the Broadcasting Law Number 32, 2002 in the media convergence era, particularly convergence ownership implemented by MNC. The researcher found from this research that the Broadcasting Law Number 32, 2002 does not yet include media convergence issue, in which convergence ownership is included. This law depicted only the limitation of media ownership, where the limitation itself is not explained in detail. With the unclear convergence ownership regulation, in this case, MNC could be freely expanding its business network of broadcasting media (TV and radio), printed media, even online media. Moreover, MNC also has the control to three of Indonesia's biggest TV broadcasting media, namely RCTI, Global TV and MNC TV. This urges Indonesia's government to act immediately by revising the regulation of media broadcasting to be adaptable to the era of media convergence, specifically to convergence ownership issue.

Since the 2011 emergence of the San Francisco Bay Area “Tech Boom 2.0,” anti-eviction activists of the region have been caught amidst a maelstrom of media wars involving an amalgam of real estate and technology speculative analyses. As tensions grow, the media itself becomes increasingly polarized, as some journals and journalists side with simplified renditions of tech being good or bad, of development being right or wrong, of housing justice activists being outmoded or salvific. This article attends to this media polarization, studying likely and unlikely alliances between journalists, media sources, and advocates of various urban futurities. At the same time, it looks to alternative media arts and hybrid technologies that have arisen precisely to theorize contemporary realities of the region, from critical cartography digital projects to projection art productions. In doing so, I ask, how have innovative media arts projects such as that of the Anti-Eviction Mapping Project, People Power Media, and the Saito Group arisen out of both a media dearth and surplus, not only furthering community knowledge production but also shattering dialectical narratives clung to by other media sources? Furthermore, I question, how are entanglements and polarizations across varying media production constituted by, and constitutive of, formations of class, race, and gender? Drawing on cultural and media analysis, feminist technology studies, and critical race and ethnicity studies, this paper situates the technological media crisis and eruption of the Bay Area present alongside the spatial materialization of technological growth, looking at how technologically driven geographic mutation both mediates and is mediated by emergent media technologies.

Two theoretical approaches have recently emerged to characterize new digital objects of study in the media landscape: infrastructure studies and platform studies. Despite their separate origins and different features, we demonstrate in this article how the cross-articulation of these two perspectives improves our understanding of current digital media. We use case studies of the Open Web, Facebook, and Google to demonstrate that infrastructure studies provides a valuable approach to the evolution of shared, widely accessible systems and services of the type often provided or regulated by governments in the public interest. On the other hand, platform studies captures how communication and expression are both enabled and constrained by new digital systems and new media. In these environments, platform-based services acquire characteristics of infrastructure, while both new and existing infrastructures are built or reorganized on the logic of platforms. We conclude by underlining the potential of this combined framework for future case studies.

New Era of Television in the Perspective of Media Convergence. The development of internet technology has led to changes and developments in the world of mass communication. Because of the internet, new media emerges. The emergence of new media is changing the way people get information through the media. Initially, people got information and news through conventional media, such as newspapers, radio, or television. To be able to continue competing as a source of information demanded by the public, television media also innovates by converging. Convergence is a combination of several types of media and is present in the form of a digital platform. This research is a library research that aims to find out media convergence conducted by television media, especially in changing platforms from conventional television to digital media. Media convergence enables professionals in the mass media field to deliver news and present information and entertainment using a variety of media. The government as the regulator is fully responsible for creating regulations that can protect all elements of society from the bad influence of the media. Regulation becomes a logical consequence of the game of cultural symbols displayed by convergent media. The goal is clear, which is to avoid a conflict of interests that makes one party harmed, especially the users or the public, for they usually become the victim of the implementation of a convergence.

Today, media digitalization has become the foundation of media industry owners in presenting a variety of information and entertainment, including media television. With the establishment of various commercial television broadcasting institutions as well as the competition for the media competition which is quite tight. Seeing the development of television broadcasting media itself with heavy competition, Islamic television institutions, in particular, seem not ready to compete with other television institutions. Institutions that affect the unpreparedness of existing Islamic television broadcasting institutions are planning and strategy within Islamic television broadcasting organizations and institutions, both before they come to the process of running and maintaining broadcasting institutions for a long period of time. The research method used is library research with in-depth analysis to explore problems related to the theme. The results of this study indicate that there are several things that must be planned before deciding to determine an Islamic television broadcasting institution; a) planning human resources, b) planning institutions, c) planning a product or program. When an Islamic broadcasting institution plans well, the sustainability of the Islamic broadcasting institution can be managed and run for a long time. That way, the existence of Islamic television media is indirectly able to provide another option for the public in enjoying the broadcasts that are served.

How are robots, androids and cyborgs presented and received in the media? This chapter applies a social media analysis to this question by using empirical research on news stories that feature robotic technologies to see how robots are presented, consider what reporters focus on when writing about robots, and review how the public discusses and receives robots. The theoretical framework utilised focuses on how robot narratives are framed, how robot controversies are presented in different media, and how robots are domesticated through the media. The two main cases are a “robot hotel” in Japan, and a “killer robot” at a Volkswagen factory in Germany. News coverage of both stories shows widely differing ways for how the robot-narrative is framed.
