This study aims to find the causes of changes in trends in the use of social media. Social media which is a means for interaction, communication, conveying information effectively and efficiently, saves complex problems. The use of social media then develops not only in the aspect of communication, but also in the production area. Some groups create new jobs on social media and use it as a means to market their products, goods and services. This proves that there has been a shift in the tendency to utilize social media. To find the causes of this change in trend, this study used a qualitative method using Thomas Kuhn's shifting paradigm approach. Through this approach, this study finds that shifting trends are influenced by the dynamics of deviations in using social media that often occur. This deviation gave rise to a crisis that resulted in a significant change in people's behavior in their social reality, so that to overcome this problem, social media users changed their activities in using media to be more productive. The crisis was not only responded to by users but also by social media service providers. In this case, social media service providers begin to improve their quality and features by narrowing the target, so that users can use them specifically according to their needs.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan penyebab adanya perubahan kecenderungan dalam penggunaan media sosial. Media sosial yang merupakan sarana untuk melakukan interaksi, komunikasi, menyampaikan informasi secara efektif dan efisien, menyimpan problem yang kompleks. Pemanfaatan penggunaan media sosial kemudian berkembang tidak hanya dalam aspek komunikasi, akan tetapi masuk dalam wilayah produksi. Beberapa kalangan menciptakan lapangan pekerjaan baru dalam media sosial dan menjadikannya sebagai sarana untuk memasarkan produk, barang dan jasanya. Hal demikian membuktikan bahwa telah terjadi pergeseran kecenderungan dalam memanfaatkan media sosial. Untuk menemukan penyebab perubahan kecenderungan tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan shifting paradigm Thomas Kuhn. Melalui pendekatan tersebut, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pergeseran kecenderungan dipengaruhi oleh dinamika penyimpangan dalam menggunakan media sosial yang sering terjadi. Penyimpangan ini memunculkan krisis yang berdampak pada perubahan perilaku yang signifikan masyarakat dalam realitas sosialnya, sehingga untuk mengatasi problem tersebut, para pengguna media sosial mengubah aktivitas mereka dalam memanfaatkan media menjadi lebih produktif. Krisis tersebut tidak hanya direpon oleh pengguna akan tetapi juga direspon oleh para penyedia layanan media sosial. Dalam hal ini, penyedia layanan media sosial mulai meningkatkan kualitas dan fiturnya dengan menyempitkan sasaran, sehingga dapat dengan spesifik dimanfaatkan oleh para pengguna sesuai dengan kebutuhan mereka.

Regarding the importance of exploring the use of social media to enhance English skill, this study investigated the use of social media to improve English skill of EFL learners especially non-English college students. The objective of this study was to find out in what ways social media can contribute to the improvement of EFL learners’ English skill. The research method employed in this study was descriptive qualitative method. In gaining data, this study used questionnaire and observation. The results showed that almost all respondents took advantage of social media to learn English. Some social media used were YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, etc. The respondents revealed that by the use of social media, their reading skill (97.3% of the respondents), their writing skill (94.6% of the respondents), their vocabulary mastery (91.9% of the respondents), their listening skill (89.2% of the respondents), their speaking skill (86.5% of the respondents), their grammar mastery (83.8% of the respondents) could be improved. Based on the findings of the study, it can be inferred that social media can contribute to the improvement of EFL learners’ English skill in many ways including reading skill, writing skill, vocabulary mastery, listening skill, speaking skill, and grammar mastery. Keywords:  EFL Learners, English Skill, Social Media

Social media platforms have become an inevitable part of our daily lives. Companies that noticed the intense use of social media platforms started to use them as a marketing tool. Even ordinary people have become famous by social media and companies have been sending their products to them to try and advertise. Many people have gained a considerable amount of money in this way and today new jobs are emerged like "Youtuber" and "Instagram Influencer". Therefore, ordinary people realized the power of social media and many people started to strength their digital identity over social media. The question raising in people’s mind is that “What is the difference between the influencers and the ordinary people who have also digital identity over social media?”. This study examined Instagram influencers for five categories namely fashion, makeup, photography, travel, and fitness in Turkey. As an exploratory study, the relationship between the influencers’ average number of posts, the number of likes, the number of views, the number of comments, number of followers, and the number of following were examined. As well as the engagement rates of the followers to the influencers were calculated. In addition, the words they mostly used in the captions of the posts were examined.

ABSTRAK Perkembangan media sosial yang digunakan khususnya oleh anak-anak hendaknya diiringi dengan pengetahuan orang tua dalam menanggapi etika berbahasa mereka dalam kehidupan mereka sehari-hari. Etika berbahasa yang perlu mendapat tanggapan atau pengawasan dalam penggunaan media sosial adalah penggunaan SMS dan Chatting dalam hal ini Whatsapp. SMS dan Chatting merupakan salah satu sarana komunikasi yang efektif di era sekarang ini. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk (1) meningkatkan wawasan atau pengetahuan orang tua mengenai penggunaan media sosial, (2) dapat menjaga komunikasi antara orang tua dan anak, (3) meningkatkan kepekaan orang tua dalam mengawasi penggunaan bahasa anak-anak dalam menggunakan media sosial, (4) menjaga etika berbahasa dalam menggunakan media sosial di kehidupan sehari-hari dengan memperbaiki penggunaan bahasa mereka. Kegiatann ini sebagai upaya memberikan wawasan atau pengetahuan pada orang tua dalam menanggapi etika berbahasa anak-anak mereka dalam menggunakan media sosial dengan cara memperbaiki penggunaan bahasa anak-anak mereka. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif, yanitu mendeskripsikan, mencatat, menganalisis dan menginterpretasikan data yang diperoleh. Hasilnya ditemukan dua puluh enam kelompok interjeksi yang dihunakan pada akun Youtube Malam Malam Net. Penelitian ini juga menemukan kelompok makna interjeksi yaitu interjeksi yang menyatakan peringatan, ekspresi, keheranan,kekhawatiran, terkejut, kepasrahan, pengetatuan baru, pemikiran, dan penegasan. Kata kunci: Kemampuan Orang Tua, Bahasa Pesan Singkat Anak, dan Etika Berbahasa ABSTRACT The development of social media that is used specifically by children must be accompanied by knowledge of parents in responding to the language ethics they use in their daily lives. Language ethics that need to get a response or supervision in the use of social media is the use of SMS and chat in this case Whatsapp. SMS and chat is one of the effective means of communication in the current era. This program aims to (1) improve parents' knowledge or knowledge about the use of social media, (2) can maintain communication between parents and children, (3) increase sensitivity of parents in supervising children's language use in using social media, (4) maintain language ethics in using social media in everyday life by improving the use of their language. This activity is an effort to provide parents with insight or knowledge in responding to the language ethics of their children in using social media by improving their children's language use. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method, which describes, records, analyzes and interprets the data obtained. The result was found twenty-six interjection groups that were used on the Youtube Malam Malam Net account. There is a rise in unprecedented political infractions, disturbances and electoral violence in Africa with the youth playing a significant role. Thus, the study broadly investigated social media use and electoral violence among the youth in Kenya using two objectives that were to assess the use of social media platforms among the youth and to investigate the relationship between social media use and electoral violence among the youth. Guided by the Dependency Theory and the Social Responsibility Theory, the study was carried out in Mathare Constituency, Nairobi County, Kenya. Data collection involved questionnaires, key informant interviews and focus group discussions. Analysis of quantitative data was by descriptive statistics and regression while qualitative data was analyzed through transcription. The study findings showed that the use of social media platforms in communication has been growing with WhatsApp becoming the most ‘preferred’ platform in Kenya. The study outcome exposed the fact that social media had an important and positive effect on electoral violence among the Kenyan youth in Mathare (R = .812). On the other hand, social media (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram) had a strong explanatory strength on electoral violence among the Kenyan youth in Mathare (R2 = .659). This means that social media accounts for 65.9 percent of electoral violence among the Kenyan youth in Mathare Constituency, Nairobi County. The study, therefore, concluded that there is a relationship between social media and electoral violence among the Kenyan youth in Mathare. The study finally recommends that the government should embrace and enforce self-regulation mechanisms by Internet service providers to deter incitement. In addition, there should be increased efforts to educate and inform Internet users on the importance of assessing the credibility of information. Promotion of productive engagement as an effective instrument of dealing with online hatred is key.

ABSTRACT. Studying in a foreign country provides an opportunity for students from diverse cultural backgrounds to develop an intercultural friendship between each other. In today’s increasingly digitalized society, the use of social media cannot be detached from any communication context, including intercultural communication. Previous studies have examined the use of social media in various settings of intercultural communication. This study aims to examine the use of social media in intercultural friendship development among foreign students in Kocaeli University, Turkey. Applying qualitative method, six foreign students who represent four different cultural backgrounds were interviewed in this study. The interview tried to explore their subjective experiences of using social media to develop an intercultural friendship with other foreign students in their surroundings. The study reveals various similarities and differences of the pattern, evaluation, and impact of using social media in intercultural friendship development. The study concludes that the use of social media tends to enhance the intercultural friendship development.

Digital innovation (DI) drives the digitalisation of goods and services, which also destroys established business models while creating new value chains. This effect is known as disruptive digital innovation (DDI). Beyond transportation and lodging, the effect is also evident in the news media industry. DIs facilitate an ecosystem in which the distinction between service providers and users become blurred – social media is birthing microbloggers as alternatives to incumbent media networks. There are questions on how firms—both incumbent and startups—strategically respond to DDIs and their effects. For the news media in developing countries, the concern is more acute. First, there are fewer established news sources; second, internet and media regulations are often non-existent or nascent stages, so experimentation is easier for DDI-enabled firms and citizen journalists; and third, fake news is not healthy for contexts with a history of political instability or where people have limited avenues to verify news, be it online, radio, or print. The need for this research is now.

Kewirausahaan adalah sebuah proses dalam menciptakan sesuatu yang baru, dimana proses dalam pengerjaannya dilakukan dengan kreatif dan penuh dengan inovasi. Dengan adanya kewirausahaan di masa pandemi covid 19 dapat membuka lapangan pekerjaan untuk orang lain, menciptakan jaringan bisnis yang baru yang bisa menyerap banyak tenaga kerja di daerah asal, meningkatkan kesejahteraan kehidupan diri sendiri serta masyarakat sekitar dari usaha yang dijalankannya, serta kewirausahaan dapat menularkan dan mengembangkan semangat berwirausaha pada orang lain. Tujuan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Mahasiswa ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan kepada pemuda Karang Taruna Dharma Temaja Sumurugul, Kecamatan Wanayasa Kabupaten Purwakarta Jawa Barat pentingnya kreatifitas dalam memanfaatkan media sosial sehingga dapat menumbuhkan jiwa kerwirausahaan di masa pandemi covid 19 guna meningkatkan perekonomian. Adapun metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah melalui video conference via google meet dengan memberikan materi serta diskusi pentingnya peran pemuda yang kreatif di era pandemi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini para peserta menjadi lebih mengerti dan memahami bagaimana menjadi pemuda yang kreatif dalam memanfaatkan sosial media sebagai salah sarana untuk meningkatkan perekonomian di era pandemi sehingga kedepannya diharapkan Pemuda Karang Taruna Dharma Temaja Sumurugul dapat memanfaatkan media sosial dengan maksimal dan memunculkan ide serta kreatifitas guna mendorong perekonomian daerah sekitar.Kata Kunci : Kewirausahaan, Media Sosial, Pandemi Covid 19 Entrepreneurship is a process in creating something new, where the process is done creatively and full of innovation. With entrepreneurship during the covid 19 pandemic new jobs can be opened for other people, create new business networks that can absorb a lot of workforce in the area of origin, improve the welfare of themselves and the surrounding community from the business they run, and entrepreneurship can transmit and develop entrepreneurial spirit in others. The purpose of this Student Community Service is to provide knowledge to youth of Karang Taruna Dharma Temaja Sumurugul, Wanayasa Subdistrict, Purwakarta Regency, West Java, the importance of creativity in utilizing social media so that it can foster an entrepreneurial spirit during the Covid-19 pandemic to improve the economy. The method of implementing this activity is through a video conference via Google meet by providing material and discussion of the importance of the role of creative youth in the pandemic era. The results of this activity the participants became more aware and understood how to become creative youths in utilizing social media as a means to improve the economy in the pandemic era so that in the future it is hoped that the Youth of Karang Taruna Dharma Temaja Sumurugul can make maximum use of social media and come up with ideas and creativity to use it. encourage the economy of the surrounding area.Keywords: Entrepreneurship, Social Media, Covid 19 Pandemic

Fundraising is an importan activity for a nonprofit institution, because through this activity, the nonprofit organization can runout its program. This is also done by the Lazizmu district Sidoarjo, as an effort to realize its participation in community empowerment, and as to maximize potential social fund in Indonesia. The Study is conducted using a descriptive qualitative method of data collecting technique that are used in interview tevhniques, observation and documentations. The informant in this study is leader of Lazizmu Sidoarjo, chief of fundraising finance manager Sidoarjo, and fundraising volunteers. According to the study, there are 3 alternating strategies employed by Lazizmu Sidoarjo, namely dialogue fundraising involving the advent of fundraising volunteers, incidental ising, and socialization by mubaligh and various event, and than retention & development donor includes magazine management and services hotline and volunteers contact occupational ising after every seedling, and the last one is multichannel fundraising include telefundraising, the supply of cans in the AUM, with KLL at AUM and mosques and the use of social media.

This article reflects diversity during the Covid-19 pandemic in Tangerang City. The Covid-19 Pandemic period requires all activities to be carried out online. This makes the use of social media unavoidable. This study used a descriptive qualitative method with observation and interviews as a technique used for data collection. The results of the study reveal that the active and massive use of social media to exchange information causes a wise attitude in dealing with the information received is needed. An attitude of wisdom, moderation, tolerance, and fairness is a reflection of moderation. The widespread use of social media and used as the main tool for activities, has made social media an educational tool for religious moderation. Parties such as religious leaders, educators, public figures, or even the public can spread the notion of religious moderation to the public through their respective activities, some of which include studies and lectures, millennial educational content, and educational comics on social media. This study recommends that parties involved in the world of education and propagation can instill an understanding of religious moderation with various media, including social media.
