Aedes aegypti is the main vector of dengue fever disease. The most effective way to prevent dengue fever is cutting the spreading chain of dengue fever by controlling the vector with using conventional chemical insecticides. The used of insecticide intensively has became the main factor of resistance in Tembalang, then monitoring is needed to determine the change of A. aegypti susceptibility status against the insecticide. The aim of this research is to determine the sensitivity of A. aegypti population from five locations in Tembalang against pyrethroid synthetic insecticide, and to determine the validity of the diagnostic concentration as a method of monitoring resistance A. aegypti population in Tembalang. This research was conducted in Laboratory of Ecology and Biosystematics Department of Biology Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University Semarang. The procedure of this research were: larvae collection (A. aegypti), insect breeding test, sensitivity test including bioassay, determination of diagnostic concentration and validation. The result showed that the susceptibility level of five population was not significantly different since all populations are still susceptible, with the LC50 range between 0,0031-0,0043% and FR range between 1-1,39 (<4). The result of validation test of diagnostic concentration was 0,0038%, valid as a monitoring method of the resistance of A. aegypti population against pyrethroid synthetic insecticide in Tembalang because c2 value of the five population was lower than the c2 table (df = 1; α = 0,05) = 3,84. Keywords : A. aegypti, monitoring resistance, LC50, diagnostic concentration..

Aedes aegypti is a major vector of Dengue Fever (DHF) that is spread through mosquito bites. However, Bandar Lampung ranked 3rd out of 15 districts in Lampung Province with an IR (Incidence Rate) of 59.43. One way to reduce dengue cases is vector control. Temefos is commonly used as a chemical vector's control and it is possible can cause resistance to larvae. The information about Aedes Aegypty has not been widely known about larval of Aedes aegypty's susceptibility towards Temefos in Lampung Province. Therefore, this study aims to determine the susceptibility status of Aedes aegypti larvae towards Temefos in Way Kandis Village, Tanjung Senang Regency, Bandar Lampung. This research was conducted in December 2018 - February 2019. This study uses five different temefos concentrations, i.e ;0 mg / L concentration as control, 0.005 mg / L, 0.01 mg / L, 0.02 mg / L, and 0 , Each 03 mg / L was repeated in 4 times. Observations were made by calculating the number of larvae that fainted, died, and lived. The results show that the susceptibility of Aedes aegypti towards Temefos in Way Kandis Village, Tanjung Senang Regency, Bandar Lampung City, is categorized as susceptible in the concentration range of 0.005 - 0.03 mg / L.

Abstract The dengue fever is a febrile illness transmitted by mosquitoes Aedes aegypti to humans. The control of dengue dissemination is a hard challenge since the human population is presenting a considerably increase. Brazilian plants are known to control mosquitoes larvae due to their insecticides properties. This work had the objective to evaluate the success of plants extracts on the Aedes aegypti population. It was hypothesized that the studied plant extracts influence the population size of Aedes aegypti. It was hoped that at least one of these extracts is 100% efficient on the  mosquito larvae combat, thus contributing to Brazilian Health Programs for the local Dengue eradication. Five plants extracts were studied against Aedes aegypti larvae populations under laboratory conditions. The plants were macerated and 4 concentrations for each plant were obtained using distillate water.  Each concentration of each extract was tested on 10 Aedes larvae with 3 repetitions, for the experiment and positive and negative control on larvae were tested, using alcohol and mineral water, respectively. The count of dead larvae was daily done. The Ricinus communis L. extract was the best extract against Aedes aegypti, killing 100% of their larvae, followed by Mimosa Tenuiflora and Ipoema eriocalyx that achieved DL50 at a concentration of 20%. These results suggest the use of the Ricinus communis L. extract on the control of A. aegypti population in order to extinct the Dengue fever and to help the government healthy programs with this disease. Keywords:  Mosquitoes larvae. Dengue Fever. Medicinal Plants. ResumoA Dengue é uma doença transmitida por mosquitos Aedes aegypti para humanos. Seu controle é uma tarefa árdua, uma vez que a população humana tem apresentado crescimento considerável. Entretanto, plantas brasileiras são indicadas para controle de larvas deste mosquito em função de suas propriedades inseticidas. Este trabalho objetivou avaliar o sucesso de extratos de plantas no controle da população de Aedes aegypti. Foi proposta a hipótese de  que os extratos das plantas estudados influenciam no tamanho da população de Aedes aegypti. Esperou-se  que pelo menos um destes extratos fosse 100% eficiente no combate às  larvas de mosquito, de forma a contribuir para Programas de saúde que visam  erradicação da Dengue.  Cinco extratos de plantas foram estudados no controle do Aedes aegypti sob condições laboratoriais. As plantas foram maceradas e quatro concentrações foram obtidas de cada uma, utilizando água destilada.  Cada concentração foi testada em dez larvas de Aedes com três repetições no experimento e se testou  um controle positivo e negativo nas larvas, usando álcool e água destilada, respectivamente. A contagem de larvas mortas foi feita diariamente. O extrato da Ricinus communis L. foi o de maior sucesso no controle de Aedes aegypti, matando 100% das larvas, seguido da Mimosa Tenuiflora e Ipoema eriocalyx, que atingiram DL50 em uma concentração de 20%. O uso de extrato de Ricinus communis L é, portanto, a ferramenta mais indicada para o controle de A. aegypti, auxiliando potencialmente na erradicação da Dengue, e dando diretrizes para programas governamentais de saúde dos países com esta doença. Palavras-chave: Larvas de Mosquitos. DBD is an infectious disease by the Dengue virus, which is transmitted through the bite of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This disease's characteristics include sudden high fever accompanied by bleeding manifestations and the tendency to cause shock that can cause death. Until now, there is no cure for dengue fever or a vaccine. So the only way to prevent this disease is to break the chain of transmission. The main factor of dengue fever in Indonesia is the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Another way to avoid dengue fever is the correct 3M plus method, namely 1. Close, cover all places that can hold water, both inside and outside the house. 2. Drain, drain water reservoirs such as bathtubs, aquariums, and flower vases two times a week. The mosquito metamorphosis cycle, from egg to adult mosquito, lasts 8-10 days. 3. Bury. Bury all objects that can hold water, such as used cans or plastic containers. However, in the 3M movement, which has been renewed to 3M plus, this third M is no longer recommended because it can cause soil pollution

Background and Aim: Aedes aegypti is a primary vector of many arthropod-borne diseases. One of the diseases, dengue fever, is an endemic disease in Indonesia causing high mortalities for decades. There are no preventive and specific treatments for dengue so far. Therefore, prevention of this disease largely depends on the mosquito control. Since resistance to chemical insecticides occurred worldwide, the study on alternate and new mosquito insecticides are mandatory. This study aimed to demonstrate the effect of essential oil from P. betle L. in the larval and adult stages, as well as its influence on oviposition activity of A. aegypti mosquito. Materials and Methods: P. betle efficacy was evaluated in various stages of A. aegypti development. For the larvicidal activity, larvae instar III stage was used. Adulticidal assay in this experiment was performed using newly emerged A. aegypti. For oviposition assay, mated A. aegypti was tested for their responses to P. betle-treated and non-treated ovitraps. Results: P. betle L. - adulticide activity was effective with a concentration of 2.5 μl/ml, caused 100% mortality within 15-30 min. Larvicide activity was observed after 1 h, 24 h, and 48 h post-treatment with LC50183, 92.7, and 59.8 ppm and LC90> 637, 525, and 434.7 ppm, respectively. Oviposition activity index was −0.917 in 1000 ppm. In addition, the eggs number of A. aegypti oviposition with 100 ppm of essential oil P. betle L. was 5 times lower than the control. Conclusion: This study demonstrated clearly that essential oil derived from P. betle L. potentially acts as alternate bioinsecticide to control A. aegypti population. The application can be varied or combined in different stages of mosquito development.

Insecticide treatments for crop protection have often be cited as the main factor of the resistance selection of Aedes aegypti. This is however the main vector dengue fever. To verify this hypothesis, bioassay tests was performed on adults collected from the field (2 urban and 2 rural areas) at Natitingou to assess the susceptibility of dengue vectors to insecticideimpregnated papers (permethrin 0.75%, delthamethrin 0.05%, lambdacyalothrin 0.05%, DDT 4%, and bendiocarb 0.1%) following WHO Pesticide Evaluation Scheme. Results from this study showed that Ae. Aegypti populations were resistant to DDT and pyrethroids with 12% and 38% respectively as mean of mortality despite the areas of mosquitoes collection. However, they were fully susceptible to bendiocarb. Our study showed that Aedes aegypti populations had developed resistance to organochlorine and pyrethroids, but are susceptible to carbamate. The low mortality rate recorded in all populations of Ae. Aegypti with bendiocarb is encouraging in regards to the use of this insecticide as an alternative in case of outbreak of dengue fever in this district of Benin.

Introducción. Aedes aegypti y Ae. albopictus son reconocidos vectores de arbovirus como los del dengue, la fiebre amarilla, el chikungunya y el Zika, en regiones tropicales y subtropicales del mundo. En Colombia, la distribución geográfica de Ae. albopictus ha sufrido un incremento y hoy incluye ciudades como Cali y Medellín. Hasta ahora, sin embargo, no se ha recabado información concluyente sobre su infección viral y su capacidad de transmisión a los humanos.Objetivo. Determinar la infección natural por dengue en ejemplares de Ae. albopictus recolectados en un área urbana de Medellín.Materiales y métodos. Se recolectaron individuos de Ae. albopictus en el campus de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, sede Medellín. Se confirmó su clasificación taxonómica mediante el análisis del gen citocromo oxidasa I (COI), y se extrajo el ARN total para la identificación del virus del dengue y de los respectivos serotipos. La presencia del genotipo DENV se infirió mediante el análisis del gen NS3.Resultados. El análisis del COI corroboró el estatus taxonómico de Ae. albopictus. Uno de los mosquitos procesados fue positivo para DENV-2 y el análisis del NS3 mostró una gran similitud con el genotipo asiático-americano.Conclusión. Se reporta la infección con DENV-2 en Ae. albopictus en Medellín, Colombia. La presencia del genotipo asiático-americano en una zona urbana sugiere su posible circulación entre humanos y en Ae. albopictus, lo cual alerta sobre su eventual papel en la transmisión del DENV-2, y sobre la necesidad de incluir esta especie en la vigilancia entomológica en Colombia.
