The role of Agricultural sector isn't only to ensure food supplies but also as an income generating through export activities. Padang is potentially developed to modern agriculture due to vast number of agriculture land.  Base on regulation No.18 of 2004 on RPJP and Regulation No.9 of 2009 on RPJM, Padang is declared as Agropolitan area. The Agropolitan concept is expected to increase agriculture-based development, because the GDP share of agriculture is relatively small. This study aims are to  analyze a basic food crops, 2) to choose the region which will develop as agropolitan area base on availability of facilities and infrastructure in that region and 3) to formulate development strategies of agropolitan area. The analysis of LQ indicate rice crop as the basic commodity with the LQ greater than one. Skalogram analysis and diamond porter show that Sub District Kuranji is potentially developed as a growth center in the Agropolitan Area because it has the most complete facilities and infrastructure. In this research the development strategies are to develop agricultural infrastructure (sub terminal of agribusiness) and institutional strengthening of capital institution.

This study aims to analyze: 1) the contribution of the subsector in the agricultural sector to the GRDP in Tebo Regency; 2) the elasticity of the sub-sector in the agricultural sector towards increasing GDP in the Regency. The results showed that the contribution of each agricultural sub-sector to the Tebo Regency GRDP, for the food crop sub-sector an average of 9.45% per year, the plantation subsector was 28.17% per year, then the forestry sub-sector was 7.20% per year, for the sub-sector livestock by 5.83% per year and the fisheries subsector lastly by 0.50% per year. During the period of 2001-2014 the elasticity of each agricultural sub-sector (food crops, plantations, forestry, livestock and fisheries), was under the number 1, so that all of them were inelastic. Even based on statistical tests, the two sectors did not show a significant effect, namely the food crop and livestock subsector. This shows that the increasing role of each agricultural sub-sector is less effective in increasing GRDP in Tebo Regency

This research aimed to analyze trend of agricultural GDP and agricultural contribution in Indonesia, and identify the role of agricultural sector and sub sectors in provinces of Indonesia. Source of data this research use linear trend analysis to analyze trend agricultural Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and agricultural contribution. Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), and combination LQ and DLQ is used to identify the role of agricultural sector and sub sectors. The analysis found that agricultural GDP in Indonesia has increasing trend while agricultural contribution has decreasing trend. Agricultural sector is basic sector in 29 provinces in Indonesia. Farm food crop is leading sub sector in 6 provinces, farm non food crops is leading sub sector in 14 provinces, livestock is leading sub sector in 3 provinces, forestry is leading sub sector in 1 provinces, fishery is leading sub sector in 5 provinces.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the role of the agricultural sector in regional development in Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province. The data in this study were obtained from the Central Statistics Agency of Simalungun Regency and the Central Statistics Agency of North Sumatra Province from 2015-2019. The results showed that based on the value of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB), it can be seen from the economic growth in the region. When viewed from the PDRB of Simalungun Regency in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors, it has the potential to be developed. The GDP contribution of the fisheries sector was 48.67 percent with a growth rate of 7.32. Based on the results of the LQ analysis, the agricultural sector in Simalungun Regency is a basic or superior sector with a contribution of 3.44 followed by Water Supply, Waste Management, Waste and Recycling of 1.12 and Wholesale and Retail Trade, and Car and Motorcycle Repair 1.09. As for the crop and vegetable horticulture agricultural sector commodity that contributed, namely cabbage with a harvest area of 2,406 hectares (21.50%). Of the food crops, namely lowland rice and oil palm, are plantation commodities with the highest production reaching 555,551 tons (97.76%).

The role of the agricultural sector as a provider of food and non-food sources is directly related to the 2030 SDGs target of eradicating poverty and hunger. In Kubu Raya, one of the developing areas in the agricultural sector is Rasau Jaya District, with main crops being food crops and vegetables for food security. Agricultural land in Rasau Jaya District is dominated by peatlands with 14,371,392 hectares area. This study aims to determine the form of peatland use into potential land, the role of agriculture as a provider of food and non-food sources, and the form of its use. The method used is remote sensing method and survey method. The results showed that land use in the Rasau Jaya District included rice fields, gardens, fields, moor, yards, settlements, forests, shrubs, water bodies, and vacant land. Food crop agricultural products are used to meet food needs as well as non-food needs such as education and health. Most people use the harvest for personal consumption and for sale. There are still not many people in Rasau Jaya District who process agricultural products into a product. Farmers sell their crops in several ways, among others: directly sold to consumers, sold directly to the market by opening their own kiosks, deposited with middlemen and agents, and taken by investors who invest in farmers. China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is an international trade and development strategy. Launched in 2013, it is one of the ways that China asserts its role in world affairs and captures the opportunities of globalization. The BRI has the potential to enhance development prospects across the world and in China, but that potential might not be realized because the BRI’s objectives are too broad and ill-defined, and its execution is too often non-transparent, lacking in due diligence and uncoordinated. This article documents the background and context of the BRI, recounts what is known about the extent of the initiative and specifies its various motivations. It highlights that the initiative meets very large infrastructure investments gaps, which is welcome and needed, and that China’s goal of forging stronger links with its trading partners around the world are legitimate, so long, of course, as the underlying intent remains peaceful. Though many observers welcome the BRI, many others oppose it for good reasons, while others misunderstand it and oppose it for bad reasons. The paper identifies and discusses concerns about the initiative that relate to its geopolitical objectives, its priorities, its geographic scope, the role of state-owned enterprises, the allocation of resources, issues of transparency and of due diligence. Particularly, it shows that this initiative deals with a vast number of countries that are in very different states of development and that an apparent lack of well-defined priorities is holding the initiative back. The paper also highlights the issue of debt overload which is distressing several BRI countries and discourages further projects. It points briefly to possible improvements that China and the other stakeholders in the BRI can make to get the most out of their investments. The BRI, to be effective, needs to meet the basic conditions of a trade and development strategy, which are clear objectives, adequate resources, selectivity, a workable implementation plan, due diligence and clear communication. Involvement of multilateral lenders could help with this. Finally, China has to improve the evaluation of project’s risks and costs and step up its due diligence approach to demonstrate that it respects the long-term interests of those countries that are at the receiving end of its BRI projects.

<p class="p1">This study aims to identify the position of the livestock subsector within the framework of the agricultural sector development in the Boyolali District. Furthermore, this research also aims to formulate livestock sector development strategy as an effort to improve its performance. This study is a descriptive analytic with analysis tool used is the Typology Klassen and SWOT analysis. The results showed that the livestock subsector is a potential sub-sectors which means that this sub-sector contribution is greater than the GDP contribution Boyolali district but it has a slow growth rate. Livestock sector development strategy in Boyolali district as follow: Increased production of farm commodities and processed products, strengthening of agroindustry based commodity / farm products, strengthening of capital for farmers and agroindustry, marketing business development for farm commodities and processed products, increase the role of cooperatives and GKSI for support of livestock sub-sector performance and development of fodder innovation.</p>

When continuity is lacked in the agricultural programs and policies of a developing nation, such nation cannot avoid to keep moving round a circle. Such nation’s agricultural sector will be full of activities without actions and achievements will elude such country. This study therefore reviewed some of the agricultural programs and policies in Nigeria, their failures and successes as well as reasons behind the failures and success vis-à-vis the recent agricultural development strategy of Nigeria; Agricultural Transformation Agenda which has had its attending major successes of lifting the agricultural economy of Nigeria from being a democratic dividend to profit-oriented commercial business sector of the economy and x-rayed the role of legislature in sustainability of the successes of the agricultural strategy for continuity of agricultural development in Nigeria.

This study aimed to assess the role of the agricultural sector in Southeast Minahasa Regency. The role was measured by the contribution of the agricultural sector in GRDP and the position of the agricultural sector in the regency economy, whether as it was a base or non-base sector. This research was conducted in Southeast Minahasa Regency. The data used were collected from the Central Bureau of Statistics, both South Minahasa and North Sulawesi offices, Planning Board (Bappeda) of Southeast Minahasa, and the Agricultural Agency of Southeast Minahasa Regency. The data were analyzed by calculating  the contribution of the agricultural sector, LQ and DLQ. The results showed that inspite of the drop in recent years, the agricultural sector remained had the largest contribution in GRDP of Southeast Minahasa Regency. Based on LQ analysis, it was shown that the agricultural sector was one of the four base sectors. Other base sectors were mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and construction sectors. Furthermore, from five sub-sectors within the agricultural sector, two of them were base sub sectors, namely food crops and plantation, while livestocks, forestry and fisheries were non-base sub-sectors. Based on DLQ analysis, the position of the agricultural sector in the future would remain as a base sector. There would be several sub-sectors in agriculture that had the potential to become base sub-sectors in the future, namely food crops, plantation, livestock and forestry, while fisheries sub-sector was predicated to remain as a non base sub-sector in the future.
