AbstractClinker burning process has a decisive influence on energy consumption and the cost of cement production. A new problem is to use the process of decarbonization of alternative fuels from waste. These issues are particularly important in the introduction of a two-stage combustion of fuel in a rotary kiln without the typical reactor-decarbonizator. This work presents results of numerical studies on thermal-hydraulic phenomena in the riser chamber, which will be designed to burn fuel in the system where combustion air is supplied separately from the clinker cooler. The mathematical model is based on a combination of two methods of motion description: Euler description for the gas phase and Lagrange description for particles. Heat transfer between particles of raw material and gas was added to the numerical calculations. The main aim of the research was finding the correct fractional distribution of particles. For assumed particle distribution on the first stage of work, authors noted that all particles were carried away by the upper outlet to the preheater tower, what is not corresponding to the results of experimental studies. The obtained results of calculations can be the basis for further optimization of the design and operating conditions in the riser chamber with the implementation of the system.

Abstract. The results of a numerical and experimental study of the bearing capacity of a circular concrete arch loaded with hydrostatic pressure are presented. To implement the specified scheme of loading arches, the authors made a stand that allows you to determine the bearing capacity of models of concrete, reinforced concrete, steel-fiber concrete and wooden arches. For experiments, a double-hinged arch was made of concrete С16/20. At the same time, samples-cubes with an edge size of 10 cm were prepared from the same batch, which were tested for compression in accordance with the current regulatory documents. During the tests, the load was applied in small steps for a detailed study of the arch deformation process. At each stage, the readings of the measuring devices, dial indicators and strain gauges, were recorded. For computer modeling and numerical analysis by the finite element method, the software LIRA-SAPR was used. It is noted that, despite the widespread use of arched structures made of reinforced concrete, there are still no generalizing conclusions and recommendations for determining their actual bearing capacity and strengthening methods in the domestic literature. During the tests, a breaking load of 600 kN was achieved, that is, the bearing capacity of the arch, determined experimentally, was 0.845 of the value obtained by numerical analysis, although, as a rule, in our experimental studies of other structures, the theoretical value of the bearing capacity turned out to be lower than the actual one. In this case, the destruction occurred in the support part, i.e. at the junction of the support (heel) and the arch, which is explained by the lack of reinforcement of the heel. The results of experimental and numerical studies of a concrete arch indicate that under this loading scheme, almost equal stresses arise in all cross sections of the arch. Obviously, the bearing capacity of the structure can be increased due to the uniform dispersed reinforcement of the arch and reinforcement of the heel with bar reinforcement, which determines the direction of our further research.

The article deals with the development of a physical model of a car equipped with measuring, recording and remote control equipment for experimental study of car properties. A detailed description of the design of the physical model and of the electronic modules used is given, links to application libraries and the code of the first part of the program for remote control of the model are given. Atmega microcontroller on the Arduino Uno platform was used to manage the model and register the parameters. When moving the car on the memory card saved such parameters as speed, voltage on the motor, current on the motor, the angle of the steered wheel, acceleration along three coordinate axes are recorded. Use of more powerful microcontrollers will allow to expand the list of the registered parameters of movement of the car. It is possible to measure the forces acting on the elements of the car and other parameters. In the future, it is planned to develop a mathematical model of motion of the car and check its adequacy in conducting experimental studies on maneuverability on the physical model. In addition, it is possible to conduct studies of stability and consumption of electrical energy. The physical model allows to quickly change geometric dimensions and mass parameters. In the study of highway trains, this approach will allow to investigate the various layout schemes of highway trains in the short term. It is possible to make two-axle road trains and saddle towed trains, three-way hitched trains of different layout. The results obtained will allow us to improve not only the mathematical model, but also the experimental physical model, and move on to further study the properties of hybrid road trains with an active trailer link. This approach allows to reduce material and time costs when researching the properties of cars and road trains. Keywords: car, physical model, experiment, road trains, sensor, remote control, maneuverability, stability.

Abstract The paper presents the validation procedure of the model used in the analysis of the composite blade for the rotor of the ILX-27 rotorcraft, designed and manufactured in the Institute of Aviation, by means of numerical analyses and tests of composite elements. Numerical analysis using finite element method and experimental studies of three research objects made of basic materials comprising the blade structure – carbon-epoxy laminate, glass-epoxy composite made of roving and foam filler – were carried out. The elements were in the form of four-point bent beams, and for comparison of the results the deflection arrow values in the middle of the beam and axial deformations on the upper and lower surfaces were selected. The procedure allowed to adjust the discrete model to real objects and to verify and correct the material data used in the strength analysis of the designed blade.

Purpose. Еxperimental substantiation of the effectiveness of biocompatible biodegradable hydrogels based on hyaluronic acid and chitosan succinate as a carrier of ranibizumab in antiglaucoma operations. Material and methods. Hydrogel drainage (HD) was obtained immediately before surgery. A solution of ranibizumab (0.23 ml) was mixed with a solution of hyaluronic acid dialdehyde (0.5 ml), then a solution of chitosan succinate (0.5 ml) was added. Experimental studies were performed in 12 (12 eyes) healthy rabbits. The first group consisted of 6 eyes – 0.187 ml of ranibizumab per 1 ml of gel. In the control group, HD was used intraoperatively without the addition of ranibizumab (6 eyes). Morphological studies were performed on 7th, 21st, and 42nd days. Results. In experimental studies in vitro and in vivo, it was proved that ranibizumab, administered as a part of 0.1 ml of hydrogel drainage in the antiglaucoma surgery area is released within 3 weeks and suppresses vascularization, scarring of the operating area, and preserves the intrascleral cavity. The optimal concentration of ranibizumab was selected-0.02 ml in 0.1 ml of gel. Conclusion. The safety and effectiveness of the use of hydrogel drainage with ranibizumab based on hyaluronic acid dialdehyde and chitosan succinate in anti-glaucoma operations has been proven. Key words: experimental research, hydrogel drainage, ranibizumab, glaucoma surgery.

In this paper, analytical equations for the central film thickness in slender elliptic contacts are investigated. A comparison of state-of-the-art formulas with simulation results of a multilevel elastohydrodynamic lubrication solver is conducted and shows considerable deviation. Therefore, a new film thickness formula for slender elliptic contacts with variable ellipticity is derived. It incorporates asymptotic solutions, which results in validity over a large parameter domain. It captures the behaviour of increasing film thickness with increasing load for specific very slender contacts. The new formula proves to be significantly more accurate than current equations. Experimental studies and discussions on minimum film thickness will be presented in a subsequent publication.

Today in Russia minimally invasive varicose veins treatment is often performed using radiofrequency or laser ablation, while the method of steam ablation is not used at all. However, the steam ablation method has significant advantages: a small volume and biological inertness of the working substance - sterile water vapor, its low temperature - 120 °C, excluding the carbon deposits and perforation of the vein wall. The purpose of this work is to develop a mathematical model for calculating the thermal characteristics of the heating module as a part of the device for varicose veins treatment using steam ablation. The model describes heat exchange processes in the hydraulic circuit of the heating module and can be applied to calculate the dimensions of the heating module which provides heating and vaporization of a certain portion of water. In order to verify the mathematical model, the simulation results were compared with experimental data. A series of experiments were carried out in which the energy contained in one steam injection and the volume of water in one injection were estimated, as well as the actual thermal power of the heating module. Comparison of the results of simulation and the value of the actual thermal power of steam obtained experimentally showed the efficiency of the mathematical model. The proposed mathematical model allows to select the geometric parameters of the heating element depending on the required thermal power, which must be provided by the heating module, and also to vary the parameters of the heating element for different degrees of tissue heating

Abstract The paper presents experimental and numerical studies to determine the equivalent second moment of area of the uniform torsion of the two-chord steel single laced members. The members are used as poles of railway traction network gates, and steel columns of framed buildings as well. The stiffness of uniform torsion of this kind of columns allows to the determine the critical loads of the spatial stability. The experimental studies have been realized on a single - span members with rotation arrested at their ends, loaded by a torque applied at the mid-span. The relationship between angle of rotation of the considered cross-section and the torque has been determined. Appropriate numerical model was created in the ABAQUS program, based on the finite element method. A very good compatibility has been observed between experimental and numerical studies. The equivalent second moment of area of the uniform torsion for analysed members has been determined by comparing the experimental and analytical results to those obtained from differential equation of non-uniform torsion, based on Vlasov’s theory. Additionally, the parametric analyses of similar members subjected to the uniform torsion, for the richer range of cross-sections have been carried out by the means of SOFiSTiK program. The purpose of the latter was determining parametrical formulas for calculation of the second moment of area of uniform torsion.
