AbstractWhile much has been written on the linguistic and sociolinguistic features of rhyming slang, the literature on the subject remains remarkably silent on its socio-geographical distribution in Ireland. Building on the findings of an article published by the author in 2004, this new study moves the analysis on to consider the recent growth of rhyming slang in the language of the young generation living on the Southside of Dublin. More generally, this article seeks to demonstrate that, far from having disappeared from Dublin usage, this kind of slang is in fact gaining substantial ground in the speech of the capital.

The young generation in terms of work, consumption and success  The subject matter of the young generation in the social context has been repeatedly examined and many studies have been prepared on this topic, for example the works of K. Wyka and earlier K. Manheim. Increasingly, the issue of the younger generation is discussed in the area of issues related to consumption and work. The article is of a theoretical and empirical nature; it is an attempt to portray the young generation in its two most important roles on the market — the consumer and the entrepreneur. It is an introductory element to the problems of consumer behaviors and entrepreneurial behaviors of the young generation. The publication draws attention to the expectations of the young generation about the applicable law and the economy. The first part of the article is characterized by sociological considerations and serves to determine the meaning of the young generation in consumer society, in particular, to outline the framework of youth, which in literature is sometimes defined not only by age categories. It is also an interdisciplinary review of theories, both those created in the past and those quite contemporary. In the second part, it refers to the results of qualitative research relating to the opinions and expectations of the young generation about consumption, work and success.

The subject of the present paper has occupied my attention for some years, but I may state that what follows is the outcome of notes prepared for lectures to my students and is only a preliminary attempt to focus our present knowledge of the geographical distribution of some tropical diseases, and to indicate as far as possible the knowledge which we at present possess of those physical phenomena which influence the production of these diseases and the area of their distribution. Why, for instance, some diseases are confined to limited areas of distribution, whereas others are endemic in extensive districts, and others again periodically extend their ravages throughout clearly defined, though widespreading, regions.

This paper discusses the subject of the composer’s identity and freedom of creating today. One hundred years of independence changed mentality and sensibility of the nation. During this period, many events happened and reality, which is changing constantly and dynamically, transforms our way of feeling, reasoning and approach to creating. How do we perceive artistic activity today at the beginning of the new century of independence? How we see our identity as creators and researchers of music? How we define and feel ar-tistic freedom now? The above aspects constitute the main area of interest in my research directed to the current situation in music and composers’ motivations to create music today. I was wondering what composers think and how they relate their creative activeness to the categories of artistic freedom, identity and inspirations. I chose general aspects of the topic and accepted them as the basis for research. Then I formulated questions based on them and posed to composers. I decided to ask selected representatives of the young generation of composers, who grew on the threshold of free Poland in the early 90s. The questions were as follows: what is our reaction to changes in reality and awareness of these changes in creation, how we think today in the post digital and highly performative reality? How we experience its impact on the artistic process? What we are looking for, whether the slogan “everything has already been discovered” still makes sense? What affects us the most, what is the motivator for our artistic activity? Direct conversations brought an interesting result. One of them, concerning the composer’s activity of Dariusz Przybylski, I present in the following paper.

Purpose. To justify the need to improve the forms of anti-corruption education and the differentiation of its content. Methodology: methods of theoretical research (analysis, synthesis, generalization, abstraction, deduction, induction) and empirical methods (observation, measurement) that provide knowledge of the subject of research. Conclusions. Regardless of the form in which anti-corruption education is conducted, it is necessary for students to understand the unacceptability of corruption in any of its manifestations and to increase the level of corruption awareness, ethical culture in society, and especially among young people. This essay is an update on the “2012 phenomenon” first discussed in my article in Nova Religio 9, no. 3 (February 2006), which was the first academic assessment of the movement. Since then, this international movement has developed with remarkable speed, focusing intense and still-growing speculation on the completion of a major cycle in the Mayan Long Count calendar on 21 December 2012. Various factors have accelerated the 2012 phenomenon's recent growth, including the decipherment of two ancient Mayan hieroglyphic texts that explicitly refer to the 2012 date, and the release of the Hollywood film 2012. The topic now draws serious academic analysis, and has led to far greater involvement in the 2012 phenomenon by the Maya themselves, including publication of the first books on the subject by Maya authors. This article reassesses the movement as it approaches its culmination on 21 December 2012, and presents indigenous perspectives acquired through conversations with Maya spiritual guides and elders in Guatemala and Mexico.
