Objective: to discuss the organization of Nursing technician’s work in the interface of the care of family members ofhospitalized children and to identify their perception of the insertion of family in caring for this child. Methods: this is anexploratory descriptive study with a qualitative approach, undertaken in the pediatric inpatient unit of a university hospitalwith six Nursing technicians, through semi-structured interviews. Results: professionals realized the importance of thefamily’s presence for the child’s recovery; however, in basic care which was previously developed by Nursing, they wereeventually delegated to be companions, with care for the child-family binomial forgotten by the professional. Conclusion:nursing technicians recognize the benefits and difficulties of the presence of a companion. However, it is perceived that therewas a lack of professional preparation when considering the binomial of child-family during hospitalization.

ABSTRACT Objective: To understand technical nursing students' meaning of interacting with family members of hospitalized children. Method: Symbolic Interactionism was used as the theoretical framework and Qualitative Content Analysis was the methodological procedure. A total of eight graduates from an institution situated in the city of Osasco, Sao Paulo state, participated in this study. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Results: A total of five representative themes were revealed: Dealing with difficult situations with family members; Perceiving oneself to be unprepared to interact with family members; Family members being a helpful tool; Developing strategies to obtain a good interaction with family members; and Teachers being facilitators of the interaction with family members. Final considerations: To be acquainted with this experience has led to the understanding of the need to include the theme of family care in the curriculum of the Technical Nursing Course. Additionally, the present study contributed to reflections on the importance of such knowledge for this population and to the development of future studies, as this theme has been scarcely explored in the literature.

This exploratory descriptive study, using a qualitative approach, aimed to characterize the social support of nurses in the care of their own children. The participants were ten nurses who were mothers, selected through a snowball method. Data collection occurred from November 2011 to January 2012 through semi-structured interviews and construction of families' genograms and ecomaps. Data were analyzed through Bardin content analysis, leading to the establishment of two categories: (1) Returning to work: the importance of family support and (2) The family and their interactive contexts: types of bonds. The social support network of the family is essential to the lives of these women, who need support, assistance and guidance in directing their activities in everyday overload.

RESUMOObjetivo: analisar o uso de estratégias lúdicas no cuidado à criança hospitalizada na perspectiva da equipe de Enfermagem. Método: trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, descritivo, no setor da Pediatria de um hospital municipal, por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas com 15 profissionais de enfermagem, cujos dados foram submetidos à técnica de Análise de Conteúdo, na modalidade Análise Temática. Resultados: entende-se que as estratégias lúdicas são compreendidas majoritariamente como uma forma de entreter/distrair as crianças hospitalizadas. Utilizam-se materiais hospitalares, brincadeiras, desenhos, conversa/amizade, vestimentas diferenciadas e contação de histórias, especialmente, durante os cuidados procedimentais. Identificam-se, contudo, fatores limitantes do uso dessas estratégias lúdicas no cuidado à criança, como a escassez de recursos/materiais/investimentos, o medo das crianças em relação aos profissionais e aos procedimentos, a falta de tempo e a presença dos familiares. Conclusão: avalia-se que os fatores limitantes precisam ser superados para a garantia do atendimento integral às crianças hospitalizadas, considerando que o brincar é um direito garantido legalmente, além de contribuir para a recuperação mais prazerosa e para o pleno desenvolvimento infantil. Method: this is a qualitative, descriptive study in the pediatrics sector of a municipal hospital, through semi-structured interviews with 15 nursing professionals, whose data were submitted to the Content Analysis technique in the Thematic Analysis modality. Results: it is understood that play strategies are understood mainly as a way to entertain/distract hospitalized children. Hospital materials, games, drawings, conversation/friendship, differentiated clothing and storytelling are used, especially during procedural care. However, there are limitations to the use of these play strategies in child care, such as scarce resources/materials/investments, children's fear of professionals and procedures, lack of time and the presence of family members. Conclusion: it is estimated that the limiting factors need to be overcome to guarantee the integral care of hospitalized children, considering that playing is a legally guaranteed right, as well as contributing to a more pleasant recovery and to the full development of children. Conclusión: se evalúa que los factores limitantes necesitan ser superados para la garantía de la atención integral a los niños hospitalizados, considerando que el jugar es un derecho garantizado legalmente, además de contribuir para la recuperación más placentera y para el pleno desarrollo infantil. ABSTRACT Objective: To know the aspects involved in the production of subjectivity and autonomy of nursing professionals working in Pediatric Units. Method: An exploratory and descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, performed with users, professionals and nursing managers, totaling 44 participants. Data collection took place in the pediatric hospitalization units of two University Hospitals through semi-structured interviews, organized and treated by Nvivo 10 software and then submitted to content analysis. Results: The production of subjectivity and autonomy in nursing workers involves both the conditions of the work environment as the relation of the nursing team, the relation of hierarchy and the profile of the professional that works in the Pediatric Unit. Final considerations: The valorization path of the nursing profession emerges, whose knowledge and competence in the area of work contribute to the construction of autonomous subjectivities.

Aim:  To  understand  the  importance  and  the  difficulties  faced  by women  when  adhering  to  exclusive  breastfeeding.  Method:  This  is  an exploratory  and descriptive study, using a qualitative approach, in which semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 women. Data treatment occurred by means of the content analysis, in the form of a thematic analysis. Results: Most women revealed knowing the importance and  benefits  of  breastfeeding  for  being  an  important  practice,  since  it  provides  good nourishment   and   aids   the   development   of   the   child.   The   aspects   that   benefit breastfeeding  women  were  made  explicit;  however,  these  were  given  less  focus  when compared to the aspects related to the baby's health. Conclusion: We should point out the  need  to  incorporate  practices  beyond  the  biological  dimension,  to  understand  the characteristics  of  each  woman  and  to  encourage  self-care  as  an  important  issue  for them.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the feelings of suffering that Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses experience, and the strategies they use to face these feelings. It is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach and based on content analysis. The study used previous studies on Work Psychodynamics as complementary groundwork. Data collection occurred by means of semi-structured interviews, which were transcribed, categorized, and subcategorized. Results showed that suffering is related to: taking care of a young patient in critical condition, taking problems home, the patient's family, the team's work, and technology at work. As for the defense strategies used, emphasis is given to the search for strength in religion, promoting inter-relationships among team members, engaging in physical activity, and withdrawing from the patient.

Objective To identify and analyze the significant networks of family, social and hospital support described by the family caregivers of hospitalized children 5-12 years during the hospital stay. Method Descriptive study, exploratory and qualitative study conducted with 20 caregivers of children hospitalized in a hospital in a city in southern Brazil, through semi-structured interviews and significant social networks maps, tailored to the hospital setting. Results Data analysis showed that the most active social network was comprised of families through emotional support, material aid and services. Relations with hospital health care team and the hospital context were cited as providing support to the caregivers of the hospitalized child. Conclusions The identification of social networks in the child’s hospitalization course enables equip professionals working in the institution aiming at better targeting of actions and care for the family and hospitalized children.

ABSTRACT Objective: to describe the bodily awareness of people with stomies. Method: a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, carried out in the Ostomized Association of the State of Ceará, through semi-structured interviews with ten people with intestinal stomies, according to Merleau-Ponty's phenomenological thinking. Results: two categories of analysis emerged: The body that I have, in which the sensations of deficiency, imperfection and bad odor add to the feeling of strangeness towards one's own body, affecting the way of being in the world of each deponent; and The body that others perceive, in which the stoma is seen as an embarrassing and complex experience, since it hampers daily activities and conviviality with other people. Final considerations: The corporeal consciousness of Being-Stomp-in-the-world requires the movement to reconstruct the senses of the body from the body I have and from that which others perceive.

ABSTRACT Objective: to identify and to analyze the support systems used by family members for the adaptation process to the child’s hospitalization in the intensive care unit. Method: qualitative research, conducted in a hospital located in the Southern Brazil. Data were collected between June and July 2017, through semi-structured interviews with family members of hospitalized children. The adaptation model and thematic analysis were used for data processing. Results: four themes emerged: family and friends as a support system; the family members of other hospitalized children as a support system; spirituality as a support system; health team as a support system. Final considerations: identifying the support systems used in the process of family adaptation and their manifestations of interdependence was possible. The need of the nurses to intensify the listening to strengthen the support system of the family members of the children hospitalized in the unit studied.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the attitudes, knowledge and skills that make up the professional competencies of nurses working in indigenous territories. Method: this is an exploratory-descriptive study with a qualitative approach, conducted with nurses working in the Xingu Indigenous Park in 2016. Data were obtained in semi-structured interviews and treated according to the thematic-categorical analysis method. Results: the nurse’s performance in the Xingu Indigenous Park has a multifaceted character, being defined by the territory’s interculturality and specificities and by how the service is organized. Technical skills, concepts from anthropology and attitudes that facilitate a respectful dialogue with cultural difference are required for a professional to act in this context. Final considerations: the performance of health professionals in indigenous territories requires specificities associated with the acquisition of new knowledge, attitudes and skills geared to the intercultural dimension of the work developed.
