We studied the cytogenetic characteristics of the seed progeny of the walnut (Juglans regia L.) trees introduced to and grown within the territory of the Central Russian Upland. Three seedling groups with polymorphic cytogenetic characteristics were revealed: mutable (with a high level of pathological mitoses), low mutable (with a low level of cytogenetic disturbances), and intermediate groups. Cytogenetic characteristics (mitotic activity, parts of cells at various stages of mitosis, the level and spectrum of pathological mitoses, sizes of nucleoli and the spectrum of their types, the occurrence of cells with a persistent nucleolus in the stages of meta-, ana-, and telophase) in each of the selected groups were described; homeostatic mechanisms at the cellular level were discussed. The sizes of polymorphic groups were established. The small number of seedlings with a high level of cytogenetic disturbances (7.5%) and the predominance of seedlings with medium (70%) and low (22.5%) values of pathological mitoses indicated a high degree of adaptation of the introduced walnut mother trees to the environmental conditions of the Central Russian Upland. Predictors for assigning any seedling to one of the selected model groups (mutable or low mutable) were established using ROC analysis methods. The obtained data on the qualitative and quantitative polymorphism of cytogenetic characteristics can be used for the development of recommendations for improving the system of seed production and the selection of new forms of walnut in the Central Chernozem Region.

Data on the resistance of the strawberry varieties to the above diseases are presented in the article. Many modern strawberry varieties having a high level of commercial characters are susceptible to diseases. White and brown leaf spots are the most harmful diseases in the conditions of Orelregion. With mass infection of strawberry plants, pathogens can affect up to 90% of the leaf mass. The aim of the studies was to evaluate the strawberry varieties for resistance to white and brown leaf spots and identify the most promising varieties for the further breeding. 41 domestic and foreign strawberry varieties have been studied. Currently, the main preventive measures against diseases are the selection of resistant varieties, the use of healthy planting material, as well as the control of leaf infections with fungicides before and after harvest. As a result of the studies, the most resistant varieties to white and brown leaf spots have been identified: Bogema, Bereginya, Rosinka and Krymskaya Rannia which are mostly promising for cultivation in the Central Chernozem region. The strawberry varieties Jonsok, NF 311, Sara, Marmolada, Sonata, Civ 64, Rubin and Frida were susceptible to white and brown leaf spots during three years with the degree of damage 3 points.

Full reproduction of steady and productive forest and landscape gardening plantings requires carrying out acclimatization of perspective species of wood plants in modern conditions of climatic changes and anthropogenous process. Improvement of a condition of cultures and plantations of nut bearing plants is a component of system of actions for increase of production of the food. Among nut bearing breeds of the most valuable the walnut (Juglans regia L is.). The introduction, selection and broad cultivation of a nut walnut in all areas suitable on climate in roadside protective forest belts, in gardening of settlements etc. are necessary. Cultivation of this breed demands carrying out the selection works directed on removal of grades and forms with quality fruits. Purposeful cultivation of cultures of a walnut demands development of effective methods of selection, including hybridization. In work the developed technique of determination of quality of fruits of a walnut for the Central Chernozem region which is necessary not only in connection with the available different interpretations, but also for the complex analysis of all quality indicators of fruits is presented. The generalized modernized system of definition of categories of economic value of fruits was developed for the Central Chernozem region. The main average indicators of external parameters and quality of fruits of local forms are defined and the generalizing table of distribution of qualitative signs on the established gradation is made. The selection and identification of potentially productive plants is an important issue and requires detailed study.

Abstract Seeds are the by-product in the cultivation of pumpkin. They are characterized by a high level of mineral substances and essential oils. However, the level of accumulation of biologically active components of seed kernel varies greatly among pumpkin varieties depending on climatic cultivation zones. Pumpkin varieties – Vitaminnayanaya, Michurinskaya sladkaya, Kubyshka, Muskatnayanaya, Aport – are taken as the objects of study. The chemical analysis of pumpkin seed kernels was carried out in accordance with generally accepted methodological recommendations. It was found that the sodium content in pumpkin seed kernel in the varietal section varies within the range of 5.07-17.6 mg/100 g, potassium – 554.8-767.1 ml/100g, calcium – 156.6-989.0 ml/100g, magnesium – 125.5-323.8 ml/100g, iron – 2.31-6.92 ml/100g, copper – 0.384-0.697 ml/100g, zinc – 4.80-7.43 ml/100g. The kernels of pumpkin seeds of the Michurinskaya sladkaya variety are characterized by high level of calcium – 989 ml/100g. Pumpkin seed kernels zoned in Tambov Region are rich in essential linoleic acid (52.59-63.87%), polyunsaturated oleic acid (11.70-27.35%), tocopherol (90-140 ml/100g). According to the content of linoleic acids, the highest indicators were found in seeds of Aport varieties – 63.87%, oleic acids – Muskatnayanaya (27.35%). The high content of tocopherol is typical for seeds of the Michurinskaya sladkaya variety – 140 ml/100 g. The obtained data on the chemical composition of pumpkin seed kernels indicate their promising use in the creation of functional food products and biologically active additives.

Abstract In order to study the spatial distribution of biological and ecological patterns of grass ecosystems, we conducted an agrolandscape-ecological zoning of the territory of the Central Chernozem Region of Russia (CCR) on the basis of the author’s methodology. According to the zoning data, it is established that 75% of the territory of the CCR belongs to the forest-steppe zone. The Central Russian province of the forest-steppe zone covers 67% of the territory of the CCR. Yeletsky district occupies the eastern spurs of the Central Russian upland. The area of the district is 1929.7 thousand hectares. Most of the district (90%) is located in the Lipetsk region, 10% – in the Kursk region. In the past, the watersheds of the district were occupied by meadow steppes and partly oak forests. Currently, more than 80% of the district’s territory is occupied by agricultural land (arable land, pastures, hayfields). The structure of land is dominated by arable land-67% of the total area of the district, pastures occupy 11%, hayfields – 3%, forests – 7%, shrubs – 2%, under water and swamps – 1%, other land – 8%. The grass ecosystems of the meadow steppes preserved along the gullies and slopes are mainly used as natural grasslands (NG) and make up 79% of all NG of the Yelets District. The most common are the downed tipchak pastures on the slopes of different steepness. The yield of these pastures is 8–12 centners per hectare of dry eaten mass.

The introduction of innovations is carried out in conditions of uncertainty and is associated with a high degree of risk which affects the economic security of enterprises. The purpose of the research is to develop a methodology for selecting innovative enterprise projects that are optimal for investment. To achieve the goal we proposed to compare project evaluations in the external and internal environment by using a comparative analysis. In this case, the object of research is a portfolio of innovative projects where an indicator of internal competitiveness is calculated by taxonomic assessment for each project. Each project is evaluated to predict its level of market competitiveness by the analytic hierarchy process. The implementation of the proposed methodology will result in the selection of such innovative projects in the capacity of investment objects that simultaneously have a high level of internal and market competitiveness. Thus, the implementation of the proposed methodology will optimize the choice of areas of innovative activity of enterprises, which will significantly reduce the risk of innovation.

The entire character recognition system is logically characterized into different sections like Scanning, Pre-processing, Classification, Processing, and Post-processing. In the targeted system, the scanned image is first passed through pre-processing modules then feature extraction, classification in order to achieve a high recognition rate. This paper describes mainly on Feature extraction and Classification technique. These are the methodologies which play an important role to identify offline handwritten characters specifically in Gujarati language. Feature extraction provides methods with the help of which characters can identify uniquely and with high degree of accuracy. Feature extraction helps to find the shape contained in the pattern. Several techniques are available for feature extraction and classification, however the selection of an appropriate technique based on its input decides the degree of accuracy of recognition.

In addition to the classical pathogens, which are well understood and well identified, new pathogens with the potential to spread epidemiologically are being identified. Some of these little-known organisms are the simplest Blastocystis spp. blastocystostosis. The clinical significance of Blastocystis spp. and its pathogenicity are still under discussion. This parasite belongs to a group of single-celled eukaryotic organisms living in the colon of the human intestine. Blastocystis spp. is known to be found both in people with reduced immune status and in individuals without any clinical manifestation. It has been established that a sufficiently high degree of invasiveness is observed in persons with gastrointestinal tract diseases, dermatosis, allergic reactions, in patients with carriers of the human immunodeficiency virus, etc. Possessing persistence factors, protozoa blastocysts contribute to the inactivation of host defensive mechanisms, providing a stable anthogonistic effect. In recent years, many works have been devoted to the characteristics of the persistent properties of Blastocystis spr., however, individual properties of blastocysts, in particular, anticytokine activity (ACA), have not yet been studied. In this regard, the work studied the anticytokine activity of microorganisms isolated from healthy subjects and patients with gastrointestinal tract diseases. A high prevalence of the studied characteristic in the subjects was shown. The expression of anticytokine activity in the obtained isolates of blastocysts was the highest in the group of persons with gastric ulcer disease, which decreased in the order of duodenal ulcer, chronic cholecystitis, chronic gastritis, etc. The data obtained in this work on the high level of ACA expression in blastocyst isolates obtained from individuals with gastrointestinal diseases as compared with the control group enables to conclude that their exometabolites may influence the local cytokine balance [1], which supports the inflammatory process.

In 2020, the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was celebrated. Many soldiers and did not survive to see the end of the war. It is important that people living now remember and honor those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our country and those who came from the war in difficult conditions to restore the national economy of the country. In memory of those who courageously defended the independence of our great country, we named a new apple cultivar ‘Den Pobedy’ (Victory Day), which took 33 years to create. In 2020, this cultivar was included in the State Register of breeding achievements and it is recommended for cultivation in the Central-Chernozem region including Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetzk, Orel and Tambov regions. This cultivar was developed by crossing are quite commonly known winter cultivar ‘Veteran’ and foreign cultivar ‘Horcout’. Trees have a drooping crown. The main branches are curves. A characteristic feature of this cultivar is that the branches from the trunk depart at an angle close to straight. The main number of fruits is located on short fruit formations. Fruits are of medium weight (140 g), conical, wide-ribbed. The main color of the fruit at the time of harvest is greenish. The cover color occupies most of the surface of the fruit in the form of red blush. The fruit flesh is white, greenish of average density. The appearance (attractiveness) of the fruit is estimated at 4.4 points, and the taste - at 4.3 points (5-point rating). Fruits contain 14.7 % of sugars and 9.2 mg/100 g of ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Harvest in Orel region is in mid-September, the consumer period of fruits is until mid-March. The cultivar regularly bears fruit and has high product and consumer qualities.
