The study identifies Portuguese nursing research, produced in the period 2000 - 2010, published via Master's dissertations and doctoral theses, analyzed according to the following variables: institution training masters and doctors, studies' distribution by institution, study supervisors and co-supervisors with their respective titles, supervisors' productions, keywords/descriptors, topics studied, theoretical framework, methodological framework, subjects, data collection and data analysis. In this exploratory, descriptive and bibliometric study, dissertations from the Catholic University of Portugal and the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto were collected, as were doctoral theses from both these institutions and the University of Lisbon, totalling 41 theses and 273 dissertations. The results describe the theoretical, methodological and bibliometric aspects of the strictu sensu scientific production of Portuguese nursing. It is concluded that nurse researchers, in having knowledge of the specific areas of the studies, can improve them to achieve quality and excellence of the training of Master's and doctoral students.

The aim of this study is to discuss the scientific production scenario related to the theme entrepreneurship in the creative industries sector through a bibliometric study, using co-citation network. The sample was based on the ISI Web of Knowledge platform (Web of Science), totaling 131 selected articles. Based on data analysis, we concluded that entrepreneurship in the creative industry sector is a subject still under-explored, but there has been a significant increase in publications in the last five years. Looking at the co-citation network, we were able to map the intellectual structure of entrepreneurship in the creative industries sector and the development in research and publications as well.

This chapter focuses on the qualitative research undertaken through engagement with older respondents within the Fiction and Cultural Mediation of Ageing Project (FCMAP). Through consideration of FCMAP’s underlying methodologies and its data collection drawn from reflective diaries kept by University of the Third Age (U3A) Volunteer Reading Groups (VRGs), responses to a directive issued to existing diarists by the Mass Observation Archive at the University of Sussex with longitudinal analytical comparisons, and transcripts of ‘Ageing Re-imagined’ literary events and associated author interviews, FCMAP mapped the patterns of experience of and attitudinal responses to ageing. This chapter also outlines FCMAP’s development and subsequent data analysis in relation to key elements and outlines FCMAP’s collaboration with researchers from think-tank Demos and its prioritising of policy aspects of the research context, producing a policy report Coming of Age before summarising its overall findings.

Guidelines for the use of semistructured interviews in researchAbstractObjective. Systematize guidelines regarding the use of the semistructured interview technique in scientific studies.Development. The interview technique was divided into six stages (preparation and testing of the interview guide; initial contact with the participants; conducting the interviews; transcription of the interviews; data analysis and methodological reporting) and recommendations were presented in relation to each one of them. The steps of transcription and methodological reporting of the interviews were highlighted, because, in general, they are neglected steps both in studies that use this technique and in works that specify guidelines for its use.Implications. The guidelines listed can be especially useful for graduate students and researchers who are unfamiliar with the semistructured interview technique. Our recommendations, however, do not contemplate particularities of other types of interviews.Keywords. data collection technique; semistructured interviews; transcription; scientific production.

The aim of this research was to analyze the attitudes of the student population at the University of Split towards asylum seekers as a multidimensional threat to the community in the context of risk society. We have approached the empirical data collection within a multidimensional theoretical framework. The first part of our subject interest is the theoretical direction of reflexive modernity and risk society proposed by Ulrich Beck, while the second part deals with the theoretical explanations regarding the perception of asylum seekers as a threat. In accordance with the research objective, a stratified sample of 286 Croatian students from the University of Split expressed their attitudes toward asylum seekers using a scale. Reliability of the used questionnaire was assessed by using test and retest method. Results indicate that students perceived asylum seekers as a statistically significantly more realistic than a symbolic threat. The respondents thus recognize one, equally important yet diffuse phenomenon showing interest among the respondents for the rational choice but also for respecting the individual’s subjectivity.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the Brazilian scientific integrative review production in postgraduation nursing programs. Methods: bibliometric design, carried out in the database of dissertations and theses of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, in October 2018. Results: 35 dissertations and 1 thesis were found. Most studies were carried out at the University of São Paulo; the main methodological reference was Mendes, Silveira and Galvão (2008); for data collection, it was Ursi (2005). The most used database was CINAHL, followed by LILACS and PubMed. The period of publication varied from 5 to 30 years; and the sample, from 6 to 299 texts. Some studies did not mention keywords, data collection period, exclusion criteria or publishing period. Conclusions: despite the growing popularity of integrative review studies, they are undervalued in the stricto sensu postgraduation program in nursing and there are shortcomings in the implementation of the method, related to the absence of important elements.
