The tradition of school sports facilities has its roots in ancient civilizations, primarily in ancient Greece. The preserved ruins of gymnasiums at Delphi, Olympia, Millet, Priene, Dedina, Pergamon, Ephesus or Thermessos, document well that sports facilities were a major part of the education system. They served not only for students and sports training but were opened to the public, used for social gatherings, political meetings and disputes. Contemporary school sports facilities derived from the 19th-century concept of the school’s educational program. It also included the indoor and outdoor physical education classes and facilities used for ‘body-building exercises’ - as it was named. In Poland, according to the current basic curriculum of the Ministry of National Education, the goal of physical education is to shape the long life habit of physical activity. The school activities should develop the appropriate interests and attitudes of students. Therefore, school activities should meet the needs, interests and abilities of the individual student as fully as possible. The present regulations of the Ministry of Education demand, that such classes should take place in a well-equipped sports hall or on a school playground.

LANGUAGE NOTE | Document text in Chinese; abstract also in English. From the viewpoint of marketing, schools open sports facilities to the public is the same as the service industry. It is a significant index and challenge in successful management if the service quality satisfies customers. In this articles, base on a standardized service quality performance matrix which proposed by Hung et al., the satisfaction index(Ix) and expectation index (Iy) were used to build a service quality performance matrix with 16 quality zone. The managers can use service quality performance matrix to improve service quality. The satisfaction index and expectation index of the service items must be located in the service quality performance matrix Bij. Thus, the managers can measure the quality performance value r and draw up a tactic to improve service quality.

Abstract The organization of Latvian sports has come a long way since its foundation in the period of independence between the first and second World Wars. The following situation has developed in the organisational structure in sport in Latvia, individual sports and training expenses for individuals in these disciplines are financed by the state, whereas, team sports depend on funding provided by local governments, private sponsors and contributors. Subsidies to enable the participation of national teams in international games are allocated from the state budget, but there is no support system for the best representatives of team sports in order to develop their individual skill, as with individual disciplines. A support system for team athletes can facilitate success of a particular kind of sport at an international level. The youth sports system is mainly based on sports schools, which are maintained by local governments and are developing the most talented future athletes. The necessity for the establishment of specialized boardingschools, to bring together the best representatives in each kind of sport, in each age group nationwide, as well as the best professional coaches, is being frequently accentuated. Deficiencies in the public system can be remedied by attracting private capital investors. Organizations operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and Science have developed criteria for the allocation of funding to provide training for athletes. The respective allocated funding is intended just for the improvement of the individual skills of athletes. Due to the current economic situation, it is obvious that funding is insufficient to achieve all goals.

End of the 19th century France is characterized by a wave of hygiene campaigns corresponding to a dominant depopulation phenomenon. It is in this context that a law is introduced in 1880 which stipulates that gymnastics should be taught in all boy’s schools: the “loi George”, whose provisions are soon extended to girls. Female physical and sports practice is thus structured politically and scientifically as a project of quantitative and qualitative regeneration of “race”, based on the Lamarckian idea according to which health and physical improvement of the individual is transmitted to their descendants. This paper describes the socio-historical conditions of the construction of medical discourses about female physical and sports practice as well as their plurality and foundation, from 1880 to 1920, when the First Medical Congress on child and female Physical Education took place. Ambiguities, tensions, and contradictions of the politics of health and regeneration of the female body through physical and sports practice are analyzed.

This research examined the determining factors in participating in Physical education/sports activities by the Deaf in Savelugu School for the deaf in the Northern region of Ghana. A survey research design was used for the study. A questionnaire and an observation guide were used to solicit information on the determinants of participating in Physical education/sports by the Deaf in Savelugu School for the Deaf. The questionnaire was administered to one hundred and fifty (150) students. One hundred and twenty-four (124) were retrieved. 91% of the respondents indicated that participating in physical education activities improves on their lifestyles, promotes fundamental motor skills and physical fitness. However, the results indicated that an unsafe environment, family factors, and sports facilities/equipment determined the participation of students in physical activities. The study recommends that adequate modern and modified sports facilities and equipment should be provided to special schools. The Ministry of Education (Special Education Unit) should monitor the allocation of funds and the utilization of physical education programmes. Well trained and qualified physical education professionals must be sent to Deaf schools. The study provides us an opportunity to gain insight into how exposed or porous schools for the Deaf are in Ghana in terms of physical/sports activities.

The term ‘liberty’ is open to several different interpretations. In a legal context it means freedom from restraint, i.e. the freedom to make choices for one’s self without unwelcome interference. Many people crave it, wars have been fought over it, yet today it would appear there is no universal agreement on what acts the individual should be ‘free’ to carry out, and on those which should be controlled or even prohibited altogether. Liberty itself, is controlled largely by society, made up of both the public and government. Rightly or wrongly society exercises a high degree of control over all individuals whom live within its parameters. It is not disputed that society requires governance to provide stability and protection to individuals and their rights, this has been proven throughout history. That said, one is left wondering what the appropriate limit on this governance should be. One interesting theory was introduced by the work of John Stuart Mill, a British Philosopher in the 19th century. Mill is regarded as one of the most influential thinkers in the history of liberalism. In actual fact, Mill’s principle would appear particularly relevant at present, that is, today’s society works to promote freedom of expression, individuality and freedom of choice whilst at the same time, it prohibits acts which many, would assert, individuals should be free to perform. Faced with these facts, once cannot help but ask the all-important question which Mill himself once asked… “What, then, is the rightful limit to the sovereignty of the individual over himself?”

After the COVID-19 outbreak, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education transformed the education system from traditional learning to distance learning (DL). The aim of this study is to share the Saudi experience including plans, policies, and programs regarding the use of DL for students at various levels of education. This is the pioneer study from Saudi Arabia, which evaluates DL impact on special students and provides recommendations for such students regarding DL. The Saudi Ministry of Education released one of the most powerful and diverse electronic systems with fully interactive technology options through the following platforms: Madrasati School, the IEN National Education Portal, IEN educational television, and virtual kindergarten. The same platforms are accessible for students with disabilities and we have found that such students can equally benefit from them with some modifications. These modifications are on the individual needs of special students. This article presents the details of various tools and programs available for DL to students in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, we have analyzed the suitability of these programs for special students in our discussion. Finally, we have made our recommendation and provided future directions to improve the DL experience for students with disabilities.
