A new approach that has dominated the production operations management field in recent years is supply chain management. A supply chain includes all the facilities, tasks and activities involved in manufacturing a product from suppliers to customers. Its various elements are planning, supply and demand management, procurement of raw materials, production scheduling, distribution and delivery of products to the customer. Special structures in the supply chain have been less studied in previous research. In this paper, the supply chain and its performance evaluation are examined in the presence of non-discretionary, undesirable and negative data. For this purpose, another model of the network DEA is presented which evaluates performance of the chain in the presence of non-discretionary inputs and outputs, undesirable outputs and negative outputs even in its internal structure. The efficiency of the chain stages is also calculated using a dual model. Subsequently, 42 cement companies listed on the Tehran stock exchange were evaluated, each of which has a chain of four stages including suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and customers. Based on the implementation of the model, six companies were found to be efficient and the rest were introduced as inefficient. Moreover, 25 cement companies in the Supplier sector, 18 companies in the manufacturing sector, seven companies in the distribution sector and finally 17 companies in the customer service sector were found to be efficient.

Inventory management remains a key challenge in supply chain management. Many companies recognize the benefits of a good inventory management system. An effective inventory management helps reaching a high customer service level while dealing with demand variability. In a complex supply chain network where inventories are found across the entire system as raw materials or finished products, the need for an integrated approach for managing inventory had become crucial. Modelling the system as a multi-echelon inventory system allows to consider all the factors related to inventory optimization. On the other hand, the high criticality of the pharmaceutical products makes the need for a sophisticated supply chain inventory management essential. The implementation of the multi-echelon inventory management in such supply chains helps keeping the stock of pharmaceutical products available at the different installations. This paper provides an insight into the multi-echelon inventory management problem, especially in the pharmaceutical supply chain. A classification of several multi-echelon inventory systems according to a set of criteria is provided. A synthesis of multiple multi-echelon pharmaceutical supply chain problems is elaborated.

In 2003, ITC responded to the high level of obsolete inventory by shifting risk from finished products to manufacturing and raw materials. This required that their supply chain be much more flexible and responsive than it was in the past. By 2006, changes in the supply chain that included moving manufacturing in-house improved flexibility and responsiveness. Obsolete inventory was significantly reduced and the company was much better at matching supply and demand. Cost, however, continued to be higher than that at third parties. The company had to decide on the appropriate tradeoff between cost and responsiveness when structuring its supply chain.The case illustrates how Wills has changed its supply chain to become more flexible and responsive. This change, however, has come at a cost. The case requires the students to analyze the tradeoff between cost and responsiveness/flexibility to decide on an appropriate level of flexibility/responsiveness. The case also requires the student to understand the relative value of increased flexibility versus increased responsiveness.

The purposes of this study are to obtain emperical evidence about the influence of followers investor’s behaviour to the stock volatility and analyze the difference offollowers investor’s betweenindustry sectors producing raw materials,manufacture industry and service industry in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), during the market crash happened in Indonesia. The population number are 507 companies, while the total sample of 247 companies. Sampling technique used purposive sampling. The analysis technique used was a cross-sectional absolute Deviation (CSADand test One Way ANOVA with Post Hoc Test and Least Significant Difference (LSD. Data shows that the behavior of follower investors has positive effect on the volatility of the current stock market crash occurs. Meanwhile, there was no difference in behavior between the follower investor industrial sectors producing raw materials, the manufacturing sector and the service sector when  the market crash.

Malang is one of the cities that supports the creation of a competitive creative economy. There are a number of industrial clusters spread throughout the Malang area, one of which is the Sanitair cluster. Industry security in Malang was very high before the COVID-19 pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a decline in the economy and in activity in the creative economy sector in Malang, including in the Sanitair industry cluster. The economic shock caused by the COVID-19 pandemic gradually subsided as the stability of the domestic financial market and economic sectors stretched. However, the supply and demand sides of the industry were both hit, so recovery efforts still need more time. The spread of the virus also has not shown signs of ending along with the increasing trend of cases and confirmed deaths. The demand for various social and economic activities is getting stronger, marked by loosening of physical distancing in many areas. On the other hand, the existing public health infrastructure is still inadequate. So, there is a high risk to moving back the various wheels of social and economic activity in the Sanitair industry cluster in Malang. COVID-19 affected the supply chain of the SME industry, including the absorption of products, the availability of raw materials, suppliers and the distribution process of the Sanitair industry. The cement industry is an industry that requires a supply chain system is structured and well organized, it is influenced by several things, namely the level of demand for raw materials (raw material), resources, production processes, scheduling, transportation, supplier, allocation, distributors, retailers, product until they reach the consumer. This paper discusses the supply chain system on PT. Semen Gresik ranging from an overview of the company, Aggregate planning, process and production scheduling and logistics of PT Semen Gresik and supply chain management to pursue the relationship and coordination between the processes of other firms in the business pipelines, ranging from suppliers to give priority to current customers as well goods between the company, since most upstream to most downstream. The  decision  to  determine  the  transportation  used  to  distribute  the  products  is  very important. A supply chain consists of the flow of products and services from raw materials manufacturers, component and intermediate manufacturers, final product manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers. All are connected by transportation, storage activities, and integrated through information, planning, and integration activities. Many large firms are moving away from in-house Vertically Integrated structures to Supply Chain Management. Supply Chain are the planning and management of all activities involved in sourcing and procurement, conversion, and all logistics management activities. It also includes coordination with channel partners, which can be suppliers, intermediaries, third party service providers, and customers. Supply chain management is the design of seamless value added processes across organization boundaries to meet the real needs of the end customer. Failure to proactively design a SC results in poor coordination of effort, incompatible information systems, long cycle times, communication problems, customer service issues, excessive waste and environmental degradation, relatively high inventories for the level of customer service achieved, and lower the optimal profit. A process map is a graphic representation of the system and contains a sequence of steps that are performed to produce some desired output. The primary goal behind process mapping is to make complex systems visible. The logistics/supply chain design and technology decision is of great strategic importance to logistics, the firm as a whole, and the supply chain. A number of factors may suggest the need to design the logistics/supply chain. A formal, structured process for design and digital tools is preferable; the potential impacts on cost and service justify a significant effort toward following a sound process. Numerous factors including technology may affect the design of a logistics and supply chain and the location of specific facilities within the context of the network.

Pandemics cause chaotic situations in supply chains (SC) around the globe, which can lead towards survivability challenges. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented humanitarian crisis that has severely affected global business dynamics. Similar vulnerabilities have been caused by other outbreaks in the past. In these terms, prevention strategies against propagating disruptions require vigilant goal conceptualization and roadmaps. In this respect, there is a need to explore supply chain operation management strategies to overcome the challenges that emerge due to COVID-19-like situations. Therefore, this review is aimed at exploring such challenges and developing strategies for sustainability, and viability perspectives for SCs, through a structured literature review (SLR) approach. Moreover, this study investigated the impacts of previous epidemic outbreaks on SCs, to identify the research objectives, methodological approaches, and implications for SCs. The study also explored the impacts of epidemic outbreaks on the business environment, in terms of effective resource allocation, supply and demand disruptions, and transportation network optimization, through operations management techniques. Furthermore, this article structured a framework that emphasizes the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies, resilience strategies, and sustainability to overcome SC challenges during pandemics. Finally, future research avenues were identified by including a research agenda for experts and practitioners to develop new pathways to get out of the crisis.

PurposeCustomers influence companies’ operational strategies and supply chain (SC) processes. In this vein, signals coming from the market must be translated into proper strategies in terms of production and supply. The purpose of this paper is to provide an understanding on how to transform customers’ expectations into SC decisions. The yacht industry, encompassing both technical and emotional peculiarities, becomes this study’s driven focus to interrogate the interrelationship between supply and demand.Design/methodology/approachThe study explores the luxury yacht industry through exploratory case studies conducted with eight companies operating in Italy.FindingsIt was found that a wide range of factors influenced customers. That is to say, brand reputation, other brands’ involvement in the final product and emotional appeal were the most distinguishing characteristics identifying emotion-oriented customers. In this sense, companies serving such customers adjusted their SC strategies to channel a direct emotional impact. It was noticed that personalization was pivotal and companies were increasingly required to customize and create unique products to attract and further satisfy the customers. Thus, multiple sourcing strategies were often employed with an increasing number of suppliers to ensure that increasing material supply need would be met. As for performance-oriented companies, cost, quality and innovation capabilities emerged as key signals to be embedded in operations management. Companies serving performance-oriented customers were characterized by low product value and medium level of customization, and kept their core activities, including design and architecture, vertically integrated. In order to generate cost advantages without compromising product quality, single sourcing strategy was largely implemented. What the findings suggested is that the customization level and the product value were positively correlated. To illustrate, companies having more exclusive products were found allowing their customization and customer involvement in higher degrees.Originality/valueDue to a relatively unexplored nature of the phenomenon, this study opted for a method by which individual and collective reconstructions were explored in a not well-investigated area, that is, the luxury yacht industry.

Pengelolaan sampah rumah tangga masih menjadi salah satu masalah serius yang terjadi di kota besar. Pertambahan jumlah penduduk setiap tahunnya akan mempengaruhi volume, jenis dan karakteristik sampah yang dihasilkan setiap harinya. Dari hasil penelitian lapangan yang dilakukan di Kecamatan Semarang Tengah pada Tahun 2017 menunjukkan bahwa sampah yang dihasilkan mencapai hampir 0,98 kg  per orang setiap harinya. Adapun sampah yang dihasilkan terdiri dari  77,5 % sampah organik, 13,5 % sampah plastik, 5,5 % sampah kardus dan kertas, 2,2 %  logam / kaleng dan sisanya adalah kaca dan lainnya. Dari komposisi tersebut, sampah plastik merupakan sampah non organik yang memiliki prosentase tertinggi.  Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah pelaku dalam rantai pasok pengelolaan sampah plastik. Dari subjek penelitian juga didapatkan faktor internal dan eksternal yang akan digunakan untuk menganalisis  kekuatan (strengths), kelemahan (weaknesses), peluang (opportunities), dan ancaman (threats) dalam meningkatkan dan menjaga keberlanjutan pengelolaan sampah plastik di Kecamatan Semarang Tengah.  Suatu sistem penyediaan bahan baku, proses produksi hingga proses pemasaran sampai ke tangan konsumen, dibutuhkan dukungan teknologi baik berupa aplikasi sederhana yang memberikan informasi tentang ketersediaan jenis dan jumlah bahan baku yang terupdate, sehingga dapat mempersingkat waktu produksi. Selain itu juga perlu dukungan sistem informasi untuk membantu pemasaran produk daur ulang, sehingga jangkauan pengguna / konsumen akan lebih banyak dan lebih luas. Keberadaan teknologi informasi memegang peranan penting sebagai media untuk mempercepat terpenuhinya supply dan demand serta menjamin keberlangsungan dan keberlanjutan usaha.STRATEGY FOR DEVELOPING SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT IN PLASTIC WASTE PROCESSING  ABSTRACT Household waste management is still one of the serious problems that occur in big cities. The increase of population each year will affect the volume, type and characteristics of waste produced every day. From the results of field research conducted in the District of Central Semarang in 2017 showed that the waste generated reached almost 0.98 kg per person every day. The waste generated consists of 77.5% organic waste, 13.5% plastic waste, 5.5% cardboard and paper waste, 2.2% metal / can and the rest is glass and others. From the results showed that plastic waste is non-organic waste which has the highest percentage. The subjects in this study were actors in the supply chain of plastic waste management.  The research subjects also obtained internal and external factors that will be used to analyze strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in improving and maintaining the sustainability of plastic waste management in Central Semarang District. A system of supplying raw materials, the production process to the marketing process up to the hands of consumers, technology support is needed in the form of a simple application that provides information about the availability of types and quantities of updated raw materials, so as to shorten the production time. It also needs the support of information systems to help marketing recycled products, so that the coverage area of users / consumers will be more and wider. The existence of information technology plays an important role as a medium to accelerate the fulfillment of supply and demand and to ensure the sustainability of the business.

The Italian food movement shows some peculiarities of meeting consumer demand in the foodservice subsector where innovation is considered strategic to meet targets and reach goals. A particular kind of innovation is the return to tradition by enhancement of the territory, e.g., reinstating local recipes and local gastronomy or high-quality local raw materials. Some entrepreneurs are redefining the fast-food service, providing foodstuffs through a short supply chain. The aim of this paper is to identify the different hamburger foodservices operating in North-West Italy and address their diverse peculiarities. A sample of 11 hamburger restaurants was identified, a mystery shopping analysis was implemented to collect information on the foodservice phenomenon, and a Business Model Canvas was carried out to compare different foodservices. The results consider two different hamburger foodservices, i.e., International Hamburger Foodservice (IHF) and Local Hamburger Foodservice (LHF), the former concentrating mainly on customer service, human resource management, and operations management, and the latter focussing on high product quality in terms of materials and psychology, plus selection of local raw materials and ingredients, supporting the local economy and businesses. Moreover, the findings provide some information on the interaction between selected Hamburger Foodservices and related supply chains, highlighting the consumer transition toward meals of high quality standards in terms of raw materials and ingredients.
