This scientific essay argues about the relevance of includingEdgar Morin’s complex thinking in the Nursing curriculumdevelopment. The curriculum determines the professionalprofile of Nursing teachers and future nurses, comprisingthe cognitive, moral, clinical, affective, research and tradeunion competencies necessary for professional survival.Complexity allows us to build new creative and criticalcurricula, with multidisciplinary thinking, connectingfragmented knowledge, defending one’s own culturalidentity, based on the Philosophy of care, and responding,in parallel, to the challenges of a politically imposedglobalization, which is elective. The design of curriculathat respond to the demands of the 21st century requirescompetent curriculum engineering able to triangulateNursing, Education and Philosophy, given that citizensare been trained and not only specialized workers. Thesciences of complexity humanize and complement the Cartesian and positivist scientific approach, influenced by the patriarchal paradigm. The curriculum changes its structure by including complex thinking references.

Globalisation, technology, migration, competition, changing markets and transnational environmental and political challenges have added a new urgency to develop the skills and knowledge needed in the 21st century. Educators, governments, foundations, employers and researchers refer to these abilities as ‘higher-order thinking skills' ‘deeper learning outcomes' and ‘complex thinking and communication skills'. We need to understand how students today are different from those of yesteryears. Although everyone believes that the knowledge and skills that students need today are different from what they needed yesterday, terminology differs from country to country, as does the composition of knowledge, skills and values. This chapter is broadly divided into four sections. The main objectives of the narrative are to understand the growth and evolution of teaching, to develop an understanding of the differences between the teaching of the East and that of the West, to explore teaching as an art and a skill and finally to prepare ourselves for the burgeoning demands of digital-age teaching.

In empowering students’ 21st century skills, the implementation of scientific approach-based models (SAbM) is recommended. This quasi-experimental research was conducted in senior high school in which the students were comprised of different ethnics. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of SAbM on empowering students' critical thinking skills (CTS). The SAbM implemented were Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Guided Inquiry (GI), and PBL+GI combination. Furthermore, the students’ ethnics included were Javanese, Bugis, Kutai, Banjar, and Toraja. The purposive sampling was used to determine the classes employed (i.e. 11th classes from two senior high schools in Samarinda). The instrument used to collect CTS data was questions test. The data were analyzed using two-way ANCOVA. The results showed that there was no significant interaction between ethnic and learning models on the students' CTS (p = 0.219), as also shown by the main effect of ethnic types (p = 0.583). In contrast, there was a significant effect of SAbM on students’ CTS (p = 0.0005) Through this study, SAbM need to be implemented continuously as it can optimize the empowerment of students’ 21st Century skills.

Textbooks are a basic requirement in learning. The availability of adequate textbooks determines the quality of learning. The Javanese textbooks used in learning, although generally stated to have met the standards by the government, need to get a feasibility assessment related to curriculum changes and 21st-century learning challenges. This study aims to describe the suitability of the contents of the Javanese textbooks for SMP in Semarang city with 2013 curriculum changes and 21st-century learning challenges. This research was conducted in the city of Semarang for 3 (three) months, starting from October to December 2019. The data in this study is evidence of the suitability of the contents of Javanese textbooks for junior high schools on the demands of 21st-century learning. The sources of data in this study are Junior high school Javanese language textbooks used in learning Javanese in the city of Semarang. The books are Marsudi Basa lan Sastra Jawa published by publishers Erlangga and Padha Bisa Basa Jawa published by Yudhistira publishers. Data collection techniques using document studies and interviews. Qualitative data analysis is inductive, that is analysis based on the data obtained. The data analysis step is data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, the three of which run alongside the research process. The results of this study indicate that the three textbooks are feasible to be used as textbooks in school with some notes. At present, the indicators need to be modified again by the teacher so that they meet good indicator standards. In terms of song material, the teacher needs to find other references to interpret the song text.

A fully-functioning consciousness science is vital for humankind's navigation of the 21st century. Unfortunately the field currently has a number of significant dysfunctions. Fortunately, they're all eminently fixable! However, there's very little attention currently either to the deep roots of problems, or to fixes. Notably, there's a crucial experiment that needs to be done, if we're to have any kind of scientific approach to conscious experience ... This Chapter ends with an explicit strategy for engaging with, and transforming, the current field. [Chapter 3 from 'The Science We Need - One Experiment to Change the World'.]

Nowadays mass media including electronic resources play a significant role in creating popular opinion on various issues. It stands true for political questions such as proving information about countries. Analysis of lexical units and their choice to describe an image of a country can be done through the use of the conceptual scientific approach and the theory of lexico-semantic fields. The author of the article analyzes how China was represented in American newspapers and magazines in the second decade of the 21st century. Relations between two largest economies in the world are of a great importance to all other countries. Besides, China is a special political and trade partner of Russia, and it makes everything connected with this country particularly significant. This study is the second part of the research on this topic that focuses on the periphery elements of the lexico-semantic field “21st century China”. The analysis showed that these are the following microfields: “China is a mechanism”, “China is a problem”, “Nature”, “Health” and “China is a relative”. The article highlights the lexemes comprising these microfields and discusses the possible meanings and ideas expressed by them.
