THE ZETA-POTENTIAL AS A UNIVERSAL TECHNOLOGICAL INDICATOR OF WATER QUALITY

Were identifi ed based on the changes in ζ-potential from physical and chemical indicators of source and waste waters. It is established that in the process of washing vehicles changed signifi cantly such water quality parameters as its color, turbidity and alkalinity. Change the values of other indicators were within the statistical errors. It is proved that the increase of colour of water (and, probably, its turbidity) the range of values of the zeta-potential (ζ-potential) has narrowed. In the waste water compared to the original, the range of alkalinity values was much wider, but with a smaller range of changes in ζ-potential.

To estimate differentiation of water chemistry in reservoirs of swimming pools port in Szczecin, in time of 2004 - 2008. In arbitrary appointed times 5 physical and chemical indicators of water quality were determined to evaluate general status and water condition - temperature, pH, NO3-, PO43-, Ptot.. Port of Szczecin is located on the Oder river and its right shoulder Regalicy. Is located in the western part of the port of Szczecin, in the northern part of the Valley of the lower Oder river on May. The port consists of water bodies which are branches of the Oder river and the channels: Mielenski, Grabowski, Dunczyca Channel Figh, Wroclaw, Parnica, Channel Channel Debicki and Lake Dabie. Trying to test water were collected by PN/C-04632.03 with a depth of about. 0.5 m below the water surface. The temperature at the place of sampling were numbered, pH. Collected water samples were fixed in accordance with the recommendations in the Polish Standard-PN/C-04632.04. Other indicators for the quality of the waters have been tagged within 24 hours from the moment of download attempts. The quality objectives was evaluated according to the criteria recommended to evaluate inland surface waters referred to in regulation of the Minister of the environment of 11 February 2004 on the classification for the present status of surface water and groundwater, how to conduct monitoring and how to interpret the results and presentation of these waters. Due to the exposure of the docks the port Szczecin on the pollution associated with cross-what are the cereals, ores, oil, cellulose, carbon, iron, general research evaluation of the water quality of these pools, you can assess the status of water in order to keep these waters.

Gracilaria sp is red alga which belong to class rhodophyceae. It can grow in shallow salt water with a general characteristic is having a cylindrical and branched thallus form. Seaweed cultivation can be performed through IMTA (Integrated Multi Trophic Aquaculture) method. The basic principle of cultivation through the IMTA method is utilizing service of the low thropic level species in marine ecosystems, such as shells and seaweed.  This method is believed to be able to overcome the environmental problems caused by cultivation activities, such as feces and uneaten feed. This research was perfomed 45 days, from February 25 to April 11, 2017. It was held at Geger Beach, Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali, using a complete randomized design method that consist of three treatments and three repetition for each treatment. Treatment control (T1) consisted of 10 bunches of seaweed 100 grams without the abalone, treatement 2 (T2) consisted of 10 bunches of seaweed 100 grams and 20 abalones and treatement 3 (T3) consisted of 10 bunches of seaweed 100 grams and 40 abalones. The result showed that specific growth rate in Gracilaria sp.  was highest in treatment T1, compared to treatment T2 and T3. This was caused by the cage construction of abalone amd the present of small mesh size net to cover the seaweed  planting, which made the growth was not optimal.  However, the use of a nets system in seaweed cultivation could minimize the loss of thallus. It was proved by the survival rate of seaweed in first, second and third, that is averagely high, ranging from 90% to 100%. Physical and chemical water quality parameters are also measured, and It showed that the water quality was suitable for the cultivation of both, seaweed and abalone.

Haris et al, 2019. The Analysis of Water Suitability for Floating Net Sprouts in Sirah Pulau Padang, Ogan Komering Ilir District, South Sumatra Province. JLSO 8(1):20-30.The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of water suitability of the floating net sprouts in sirah pulau padang, ogan komering river, Serdang Menang Village, OKI South Sumatra Regency based on water physical and chemical parameters. This study was conducted on July - August 2018 at the Komering River, Ulak Jermun village, Terusan Menang Village, and Mangun Jaya Village, OKI District, South Sumatra. The data of sampling was divided into 3 stations, they were; station 1 was Ulak Jermun Village (3 ° 18'45.48 "LS and 104 ° 53'5.32" BT), station 2 was Terusan Menang Village (3 ° 17'14.13 "LS and 104 ° 52'46.78 "BT), and station 3 was Mangun Jaya village (3 ° 18'14.92" LS and 104 ° 52'59.48 "BT). The data of Samples were tested at the chemical laboratory in Palembang Public Water Fisheries and Extension Research Institute directly. The results of the study was for Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3 with a value was  48% with a good feasibility information. The results of measurements of water quality parameters, the pH was about 6.6 - 6.7, temperature was about from 24., 53 - 26.93oC, DO 3.93 - 4.36 mg / l, ammonia was about 0.78 - 0.16 mg / l, water brightness was about from 34.67 - 43.33 cm, CO2 4.53 - 5.03 mg / l, depth 2.36 - 2.47 m, current velocity was about 0.38 - 0.44 m / s, nitrate was about 0.37 - 0.439 mg / l, phosphate was about 0.009 - 0.225 mg / l and the bottom substrate of water was mud.

This study focuses on the different physical and chemical water quality parameters of two catchment areas centring on the extent of water pollution in the two basins. Data containing physical and chemical water quality parameters for the Crocodile (West) Catchment area (Gauteng) and the Berg Catchment area (Western Cape) at reconnaissance level of detail were collected from the Department of Water Affairs (DWA) over a period of 5 years, 2007–2011. The relevant data were screened and sorted using the SPSS Software Version 2.0. The data were subjected to ANOVA statistics to search for significant variations in the water quality parameters of concern across the study period in each of the catchment area. The physical and chemical analyses were carried out to determine whether the water quality falls within the total water quality range as prescribed by DWA and WHO for domestic use. Pearson correlation analyses were used to determine the relationship between physical and chemical water quality parameters and the rainfall data over the study period.

The shortage of fresh water creates acute challenges in the West Bank of Palestine. Springs provide a main water resource in the West Bank. Investigating springs’ water quality is essential step for promoting their public use. The aim of this research is to assess the microbiological and physiochemical quality parameters of drinking water from springs. The study methodology included sampling through field work and laboratory testing for water quality parameters using standard procedures. The study area covered all locations containing licensed springs by the Palestinian Water Authority in the West Bank of Palestine. The number of collected samples was 127 covering 300 springs. The chemical, physical, and biological parameters for each sample were measured. Then, the obtained characteristics were evaluated based on national and international quality standards (PSI and WHO). The investigated parameters included temperature, pH, EC, total hardness, concentrations of nitrate, sodium ions, total chlorine, residual chlorine, turbidity, and total and faecal coliforms. Most of investigated physical and chemical parameters were within the acceptable standard limits. However, the turbidity and chloride and nitrate concentrations exceeded standard limits. The findings indicate that only a minor fraction of the samples (2%) requires chlorination treatment, while most of the springs (97% of samples) are classified as possessing no risk.

Abstract This research work was carried out from July 2018 to June 2019. WQI method was utilized to examine the seasonal changes in water quality that can indicate the potential use of water in the future. Water samples were tested from three locations along the Mandakini River. Fourteen physical and chemical parameters were analyzed. All water quality parameters were inside the admissible furthest reaches of the WHO for drinking water except turbidity, especially in the monsoon season. Twelve taxa of macroinvertebrates (Philopotamus sp., Laptophlebia sp., Isoperla sp., Diploperla sp., Tabanus sp., Hydropsyche sp., Baetis sp., Glossosoma sp., Heptagenia sp., Ephemerella sp., Psephenus sp., and Protandrous sp.) were identified in the Mandakini River. The fundamental goal of this investigation was to evaluate the seasonal effects on benthic macroinvertebrate diversity from the physicochemical variables of the Mandakini River. The study also affirmed that tourist-generated waste disposal, poisonous and dangerous chemicals from farming are the key components liable for the deterioration of water quality during the monsoon season.

Abstract. Baru Barat River is a man made river for flood and irrigation control. This study aims to determine the effect of activities on the bank on Baru Barat River on the water quality. Identification of activities is carried out along the bank of river. Water quality parameters are compared with the Governor of Jakarta no. 582 year 2005. The status of water quality is determined using the Pollution Inde (PI). The activities around the Baru Barat River are settlements, officem workshop, schools, deales, food stall, laundry, shops, beauty salons, guesthouses and gas station. BOD concentration range from 8.4-43.7 mg/L with a quality standard of 10 mg/L and COD range from 16-99.2 mg/L with a quality standard of 20 mg/L. Concentration of BOD and COD that exceed of quality standard at almost all sampling ponts. The level of pollutionj in the Baru Barat River is moderate polluted. The main problem at Baru Barat River are the presence of several illegal waste point left from activities that eventually enter the river and the absence of waste water treatment. The concept of community based must be implemented to waste management and communal wastewater treatment that are easy, inexpensive and integrated with the landscape. A study about abundant of epilithic diatom was conducted on 2017 in Kuranji River. The objective of this study was to clarify species and abundant of epilithic diatom in Batang Kuranji River. Samples were collected in 3 stations by purposive sampling and brushing method. The results showed that totally 82 species in 22 genera had been found. The total abundant of epilithic diatom was 15139,26 individual/cm2. The highest abundance of epilithic diatom was found in station I (Batu Busuak) and the lowest in station III (Sawah Liek). Synedra sp and Fragillaria sp were dominant group of diatoms which are found in almost all sites. Some physical and chemical water quality parameters were showed that Batang Kuranji River were polluted slightly by organic and inorganic materials.

The purpose of this study was to examine how efficient a biological treatment process is in purifying car wash waste waters. Two Finnish automatic car washes having rotating bed biofilm reactors for waste water treatment were included in the study. Both of them are using 87 % of recycled water per car wash and only from 35 to 60 liters of fresh water. Samples were taken from the purified water tank every second week altogether seven times between the beginning of February and the end of May, 2012. The reduction of surfactants was at least 95 % and reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD) between 87 and 95 % during the sampling period. Outdoor temperature seems not to have any significant effect on purification efficiency. Other water quality parameters such as conductivity, pH, oxygen concentration, total solids, and biological oxygen demand (BOD) were found to be on acceptable level based in comparison to values found in the literature. The high concentration of total nitrogen and total phosphorus in the purified water was caused by nutrients added to the bioreactor for optimal conditions for the microbes. In the studied car washes, the waste water treatment process managed to reduce input load considerably. The main challenges for the quality of purified water seems to be optimal nutrient input as well as on-line monitoring system for water quality.
