The article contains a theoretical study and description of general algorithm for predicting a stock market fiasco caused by non-financial and other factors. Market fiasco is considered as non-periodical, sudden and random event which can arise due to the many latent reasons. Methods of technical and fundamental analysis are useless to solve this problem, therefore, the use of systems analysis methods is proposed. The author’s idea is the numerical calculation of search queries entropy as a part of global information space. Decrease in the Renyi’s entropy, associated with rapid grow search queries, containing key terms from the subject area, indicates the possible stock market fiasco in the near future. This article presents an algorithm for the dynamic calculation of Renyi’s entropy, allowing predict rare events which are not reflected in statistical data (or frequency of their realizations is too small). The method and algorithm can be realized in trade information systems and decision-making systems in economic sphere.

The paper begins with a description of the various types of turbine generator foundations that have been installed and those that are intended for use in the near future. Then follows a section detailing the requisite characteristics of machine foundations and the factors that must be considered in order to obtain satisfactory operation. As the foundations support rotating machinery, the subject of vibration is discussed, including fundamental equations and their practical applications to the problem of calculating frequencies in the structures. Among the many factors that have to be considered when selecting the type of foundation are the size of machine and the station arrangement. The various factors are presented with comments. Important characteristics relating to the material properties and to the erection and behaviour of steel and concrete foundations are described. The topic of alignment is considered, including methods of maintaining machine alignment relative to the foundation structure. The causes of foundation distortion and the resulting effect on the alignment of the machine are summarized and some reference is made to precompensation in anticipation of misalignment developing.

The article considers the problems of forming a single information space in the course of operation of the state information system of housing and communal services. Five types of information systems used in the Russian Federation by organizations for managing housing and communal services have been identified. Object-oriented analysis of the subject area «real estate management by foreign information systems» was conducted. A diagram of use cases and a class diagram using UML notation for a comparative analysis of domestic and foreign information systems are constructed. With the help of diagrams was implemented a comparative analysis of domestic and foreign information systems. It was noted the lack of marketing functions in domestic systems and insufficient development of the functions to include tenants in the management of housing and communal services.

Professor John Mahony, F.A.A., was a talented and unusual Australian applied mathematician (cf. Fowkes and Silberstein [6]), trained in Manchester in the early 1950s under James Lighthill and Richard Meyer. He may be best remembered today for his early work on multiple scales ([8]), for the soliton equation named after him and his collaborators Brooke Benjamin and Jerry Bona ([2]) and for the many students and colleagues he influenced positively. This note concerns certain illustrative examples listed in the three-part paper Stiff Systems of Ordinary Differential Equations by John and his then postdoc John Shepherd, published in the Journal of the Australian Math. Society (Series B) ([9]). After skimming their eighty-seven pages, it is hard to tell how thoroughly they understood the behavior of solutions to their sample problems (though these descriptions remain the most compelling parts of the papers). I can now admit that, sometime in the late 1970s, I recommended that (perhaps an early version of some of) these papers not be published in (I think) a SIAM journal. I am now glad Series B accepted them. Indeed, with regard to Mahony ([8]), Fowkes and Silberstein ([6]) reported “It is likely, in fact, that the JAMS paper was rejected by other more prestigious journals. This was often the case with John's work; partially because his material was almost always a departure from conventional wisdom, but also because John's writing could be rather formal and obscure.” The junior author of the 1981 papers now has achieved considerable mastery of the subject area, but couldn't have been expected to then take the helm from the opinionated Mahony who had initiated the study through his successful proposal to the Australian Research Council.

The work currently under review, by M. A. Muqtedar Khan, professor at the University of Delware (USA) and expert in Islamic thought, governance and international relations, is a unique addition to the subject area, exploring new dimensions of Islamic political philosophy. A serious, critical evaluation of the subject—theory vis-a-vis practice—Khan challenges the many political understandings held by classical and modern Islamic political thinkers. Human minds (irrespective of their religious bents) have searched through the ages for a world order capable of providing peace and tranquillity to all people. Consequently, a number of political theories have emerged deliberating on the process and structure of governance and government.

The aim of the article is development of a technique for visualizing information for use in multimedia applications. In this study, to visualize information, it is proposed first to compile a list of key terms of the subject area and create data tables. Based on the structuring of fragments of the subject area, a visual display of key terms in the form of pictograms, a visual display of key terms in the form of images, and a visual display of data tables are performed. The types of visual structures that should be used to visualize information for further use in multimedia applications are considered. The analysis of existing visual structures in desktop publishing systems and word processors is performed. To build a mechanism for visualizing information about the task as a presentation, a multimedia application is developed using Microsoft Visual Studio software, the C# programming language by using the Windows Forms application programming interface. An algorithm is proposed for separating pieces of information text that have key terms. Tabular data was visualized using the “parametric ruler” metaphorical visualization method, based on the metaphor of a slide rule. The use of the parametric ruler method on the example of data visualization for the font design of children's publications is proposed. Interaction of using the method is ensured due to the fact that the user will enter the size of the size that interests for it and will see the ratio of the values of other parameters. The practical result of the work is the creation of a multimedia application “Visualization of Publishing Standards” for the visualization of information for the font design of publications for children. The result of the software implementation is the finished multimedia applications, which, according to the standardization visualization technique in terms of prepress preparation of publications, is the final product of the third stage of the presentation of the visual form

This article examines the economic views of the Renaissance philosophers. The socio-philosophical thought of this period raises the value and moral-ethical problems in economic sphere, as well as attempts to solve them. The subject of this research is the attitude towards the economic wealth of an individual and society. The goal is to reveal and structurize the economic ideas of the Renaissance philosophers. The relevance of this work lies in the overview of the philosophical concepts that reflect the economic ideas and value peculiarities of that time. Special attention is given to the development of foreign trade, which was accelerated by the Age of Discovery. The Renaissance era is complex phenomenon of human culture, where opens a new perspective upon articulation and solution of the old problems. For example, in discussing wealth and poverty, the philosophers raised the problem of social inequality, claiming the many people are poor not because they do not want to work, but because they were born to be poor. In this era, the bourgeois class, feudal lords and the highest royal nobility owned almost all lands, making it extremely difficult for ordinary people to become wealthy. This marked the “revolution” within the system of values, as well as in sociopolitical and economic spheres. Among the factors affecting the evolution of economic thought, the author indicates the problems of the development of economic activity and change in the subject area of economic tasks, both of which required a theoretical reflection. The author explores the solution of these tasks by different philosophers, as well as follows the evolution of the internal logic of economic views.

The article proposes a model for forecasting the success of student’s learning. The model is a Markov process with continuous time, such as the process of “death and reproduction”. As the parameters of the process, the intensities of the processes of obtaining and assimilating information are offered, and the intensity of the process of assimilating information takes into account the attitude of the student to the subject being studied. As a result of applying the model, it is possible for each student to determine the probability of a given formation of ownership of the material being studied in the near future. Thus, in the presence of an automated information system of the university, the implementation of the model is an element of the decision support system by all participants in the educational process. The examples given in the article are the results of an experiment conducted at the Institute of Space and Information Technologies of Siberian Federal University under conditions of blended learning, that is, under conditions when classroom work is accompanied by independent work with electronic resources.

Pierre Iselin broaches the subject of early modern music and aims at contextualising Twelfth Night, one of Shakespeare’s most musical comedies, within the polyphony of discourses—medical, political, poetic, religious and otherwise—on appetite, music and melancholy, which circulated in early modern England. Iselin examines how these discourses interact with what the play says on music in the many commentaries contained in the dramatic text, and what music itself says in terms of the play’s poetics. Its abundant music is considered not only as ‘incidental,’ but as a sort of meta-commentary on the drama and the limits of comedy. Pinned against contemporary contexts, Twelfth Night is therefore regarded as experimenting with an aural perspective and as a play in which the genre and mode of the song, the identity and status of the addressee, and the more or less ironical distance that separates them, constantly interfere. Eventually, the author sees in this dark comedy framed by an initial and a final musical event a dramatic piece punctuated, orchestrated and eroticized by music, whose complex effects work both on the onstage and the offstage audiences. This reflection on listening and reception seems to herald an acoustic aesthetics close to that of The Tempest.
