The issue of teaching Russian as a foreign language in a technical university in Russia is considered. The relevance is due both to the increase in the number of foreign students in Russian universities and the need for them to master the Russian language as soon as possible in order to continue their studies in Russian. The aim of the work is to describe the features of mastering Russian scientific vocabulary, the terminology of technical disciplines, in particular, the language of mathematics by foreign students studying at the preparatory department of the Tomsk State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (Building). A linguistic experiment was carried out, when students were offered to write a dictation, replete with scientific vocabulary. The results, as well as violations of pronunciation and spelling of terms have been described, since the main difficulty is precisely the study of the vocabulary of the scientific style of speech. The peculiarities of deviations from the standard were also identified, structured, and described. Options for the implementation of the program for the development of normative writing skills by foreign students were proposed. Rather difficult is the definition of the word boundary, writing letters at the end of a word, the perception of hissing consonants, paired consonants (unvoiced – voiced), soft – hard; determination of the gender of a noun (in most languages of the former Soviet Union there is no category of gender). This requires the necessity of elaborate thinking over the exercise types and their sequence in accordance with students’ needs. This work continues a series of methodical publications, the main aim of which is improving the quality of foreign student education in technical universities of Russia.

The article focuses on the comparative approach in teaching German as the second foreign language simultaneously with Czech as the first foreign language at the Russian State University for the Humanities. The bachelor program “Slavistics and Central European studies: languages, culture and literature of the Czech Republic and Austria” at the RSUH has some unique features: from the first year of this program students learn simultaneously two foreign languages: Czech as the first foreign language and German as the second one, therefore, they often make mistakes in German due to the influence of their mother tongue, Russian, as well as English, learned at school, and Czech. If the teacher of German has a good command of the Czech language, he or she can use some similarities between German and Czech that have appeared due to their long-term language contact and convergent evolution. The prepositional government of some Czech and German verbs is one of these similarities that distinguish them from the Russian language. And many mistakes are made by students in their target languages due to the verbal government of Russian. But with that said this language transfer could be avoided or reduced if we show that plenty of German and Czech verbs have analogous verb government. In order to check this statement, we have made a set of exercises (substitution drill and translation “Czech – German”, “German – Czech”, “Russian – Czech, German”), which contained four couples of German and Czech verbs with prepositional government. The testing of these exercises on seven second-year-students of the RSUH has shown that such exercises could help students to focus on Czech-German grammatical similarities and reduce the influence of the Russian language.

We consider the main qualification features of text units with the semantics of reference to participants in the communicative Russian speech space, taking into account lexical and gram-matical ways of expression. This allows us to determine their differential features and classifica-tion types, reflecting the dynamics in the formation of references in the system of the modern Russian language. We pay special attention to references of different forms, which not only represent the speaker’s attitude to the object of speech, characterize it, but also enhance imagery and emotionality, give us an idea of the author as a linguistic person. We emphasize that conversion should be considered a linguistic universal. It serves the organization and regulation of communication relations. The choice of a particular form of reference reflects the attitude towards the interlocutor, conditioned by a variety of factors. That is why conversion is a socially important component of dialogical speech. We determine the main parameters of the semantic, grammatical and functional features of references based on the materials of linguistic research, as well as the prospects for scientific research in this direction. A survey is conducted on the use of certain forms of references strangers among students of the Derzhavin Tambov State University. Questions related to their perception of the most frequent references in the modern Russian language are proposed. We establish that in modern Russian there is a problem when references a stranger.

The article is devoted to analytical forms and constructions of the Russian language. The relevance of the work, which is explained by the strengthening of analytical trends in modern Russian, is substantiated. Analytical forms and constructions are defined as grammatical difficulties in language learning by foreign students. The main manifestations of analyticism in the grammatical system of the modern Russian language are analyzed. The main difficulties of assimilation of analytical forms and structures are revealed. The optimal approach to overcome such difficulties is proposed. The main means to overcome the difficulties associated with the assimilation of analytical forms and structures of the language, as well as the means for forming grammatical skills are: preliminary listening to the material, imitating in speech, the uniformity of phrases and the regularity of their repetition, action by analogy, “relative” error-free actions, various methods automation and speech performance. The introduction of a new grammatical phenomenon is based on a communicative approach to language learning. At the stage of presentation of analytical forms and constructions, attention should be paid to the formulation of rules-instructions and rules-generalizations, which must be built in accordance with the following requirements: functional orientation, adequacy, scientific, generalization, accessibility, and guidance. Taking into account the peculiarities of the Russian language grammar structure, the existence of analytical forms and constructions, difficulties in their study as well, it is expedient to introduce a presentation of new grammar constructions using additional tables and systematizing the material periodically. We are convinced that in educational materials for foreign students, each language fact must receive a detailed methodological description in different plans: from the point of view of its place in the system of language phenomena, functioning in speech, use in receptive and productive speech actions, “servicing” communicative tasks, conditionality non-linguistic factors, correlation with the facts and the system of the native language for the student.
