The paper provides a clinical and laboratory description of a case of dengue hemorrhagic fever imported by our countryman from Thailand to Omsk. It shows that the hemorrhagic fever of the disease may be developed in Russian citizens during multiple visits to endemic areas.

Abstract: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is one of the most serious health problems in Indonesia which often causes outbreaks with numerous deaths. The disease is transmitted byAedes sp.females. Generally, dengue virus transmission occurs horizontally from human carriers, and the dengue viruses are passed on bytheir vectors through blood sucking activity. After propagation in the mosquito, the viruses are transmitted to human recipients. In addition, there is a vertical transmission (transovarial) of dengue virusesin the ova of Aedes sp.females. The viruses propagate in the ova that undergo  metamorphosis to become larvae, pupae, and imagoes. The transovarial transmission of dengue virusesin its vectors in endemic areas could be a causative key which is responsible for the phenomenon of increasing cases of DHF. Any effort to prevent and control DHF requires a thorough understanding about virDen transmission, including this transovarial transmission in Aedes spfemales. Keywords: DHF, transovarial transmission, Aedes sp.     Abstrak: Penyakit Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD) merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan yang semakin serius di Indonesia dan sering menimbulkan suatu Kejadian Luar Biasa (KLB) dengan jumlah kematian tinggi. Penyakit ditularkan melalui Aedes sp.betina. Transmisi virus dengue umumnya terjadi secara horizontal, yaitu dari manusia pembawa virus dengue ke nyamuk vektor Aedes sp. melalui aktivitasnya mengisap darahSetelah mengalami propagasi  dalam  tubuh nyamuk, virus dengue ditularkan ke  manusia penerima. Selain itu, transmisi virus dapat terjadi secara vertikal (transovarial) yaitu virus dengue dalam tubuh nyamuk vektorAedes sp. betinake ovum, kemudian berpropagasi dalam ovum, larva, pupa, dan imago. Transmisi transovarial virus dengueke vektornya di daerah endemik bisa menjadi kunci penyebab yang bertanggung jawab terhadap fenomena peningkatan kasus deman berdarah dengue. Upaya pencegahan dan penanggulangan DBD memerlukan pengetahuan yang matang tentang adanya infeksi transovarial virDen pada nyamuk Aedes sp. Kata kunci : DBD, transmisi transovarial,  Aedes sp.

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by dengue virus, which is one of the serious public health problems in Indonesia, particularly Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, Indonesia. One of the DHF endemic locations in Pekanbaru City is Payung Sekaki Health Centre, where 52 DHF cases and no deaths were reported in 2018. The number of DHF cases has increased to 53 and caused 1 death in January-August 2019 period (CFR = 1.89%). Karya Wanita Rumbai Health Centre is one of the DHF non-endemic areas in Pekanbaru City, where only 10 DHF cases and no deaths were reported in January-August 2019 period. The purpose of this study was to compare the knowledge, attitude, and practice of DHF prevention between mothers in endemic and non-endemic areas of Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, Indonesia. The design of this study was observational, with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used in this study was accidental sampling, which included 100 respondents from each region. The data source of this study consisted of primary and secondary data. Data analysis was performed using bivariate analysis with Mann Whitney statistical test because the data were not normally distributed. The results of the study showed that there were no differences in knowledge (p-value = 0.912) and attitude (p-value = 0.065) of DHF prevention between mothers living in the endemic and non-endemic areas of Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, Indonesia. However, there were differences in practice of DHF prevention between mothers (p-value = 0.002) living in the endemic and non-endemic areas of Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, Indonesia. The conclusion of this study is that there is no difference in knowledge and attitude of DHF prevention between mothers living in the endemic and non-endemic areas, but there are differences in DHF prevention practice between mothers living in the endemic and non-endemic areas of Pekanbaru City, Riau Province, Indonesia.

Background: Community vulnerability is influenced by the low participation of the community in Pemberantasan Sarang Nyamuk (PSN). PSN is an activity done by society independently in their respective environment to eliminate mosquito-breeding places by 3 M (Menguras, Menutup, Mengubur). We aimed to prove the relationship between knowledge and practice of the community in PSN with the incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), beside to describe the map of vulnerability of the community in endemic areas of DHF. Methods: This study used case control design. The population of this research is the community in the area of Puskesmas Kembaran 1 and 2. The samples were taken from Bojongsari villageas, Banyumas districtis, Indonesia one of the endemic areas of DHF from Jan 2014- Dec 2015. The number of samples was 62 respondents. Results: The community in endemic areas of knowledge about dengue was mostly good (55%) but in practice PSN was mostly less (56%). There was no correlation of knowledge with the incidence of DHF (P=0.444) and there was an association of DHF occurrence with PSN practice (P=0.010) and the vulnerability map showing many negative DHF residents living close to dengue cases. Conclusion: Community vulnerability in DHF endemic areas is dominated by densely populated settlements, Slum environmental conditions, and PSN practices are lacking. Mobilization of all components of the communityis required to participate in prevention of DHF.

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is influenced by the density of disease vectors. One of government program to reduce dengue cases in Indonesia is the Eradication of Mosquito Nest (PSN) through monitoring of Water Reservoirs (TPA). This study aims to determine the opportunities for TPA characteristics to influence the presence of Aedes sp. larvae in 19 provinces in Indonesia in the Riset Khusus Vektor dan Reservoir Penyakit in 2015 and 2016. The study was conducted cross sectionally in 570 areas near settlements which are dengue endemic areas and each province was taken three districts that have one DHF endemic area. The data obtained in the form of landfill characteristics variables and the presence of larvae of Aedes sp. analyzed descriptively and logistic regression. The analysis showed that 88% of the landfill contained larvae. Almost all the characteristics of the landfill examined have an effect on the existence of larvae with an average odd ratio of 3.2. Properly done landfill drainage significantly reduces the chances of mosquito eggs hatching into larvae by 11,843 times more than landfills that are rarely drained. Maintaining fish larvae in the landfill has a significant effect in reducing the population of mosquito larvae by 4.937 times. Sowing container with larvasida has the opportunity to reduce mosquito larvae by 4.483 times. The results of this study can be used as a basis for DHF control efforts in communities in endemic areas.

ABSTRACT Background: In recent decades, the incidence of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) has risen significantly around the world. In Indonesia, studies reported 77.96 cases per 100,000 person-years in 2016 with the highest average number of cases in West Java. This study aimed to investigate the spatio-temporal analysis on endemicity of dengue hemorrhagic fever in Sragen Regency, Central Java. Subjects and Method: This was a descriptive study with cross-sectional design conducted in Sragen, Central Java from 2016 to 2018. A total of 1,354 cases was selected by total sampling. The main variable under study was the DHF incidence. The data were described by frequency distribution tables. Data were analyzed by spatio-temporal analysis method with overlay function using Geographic Information System (GIS). Results: The spatio-temporal analysis showed an increased DHF incidence in all sub-districts in Sragen Regency for three consecutive years 2016 to 2018. The highest incidence was 94 cases per 100,000 population in 2016. Sragen Regency was considered endemic areas of DHF. Background: The high number of visits by sufferers of some environmental-based diseases to health service centers shows that the disease is still a serious problem in Indonesia, and one of them is Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Sragen regency has become endemic, especially in the Masaran sub-district reportedly still an endemic area of ​​dengue fever. Geographically, the endemicity of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in an area can be described using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Research Objectives: This study aims to provide an overview of the Spatial and Temporal Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) distribution based on population density and rainfall factors as well as to provide a description of the endemicity of the area against DHF in Masaran District, Sragen Regency with the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Methods: The design of this study was Observational Analytic with Crossectional approach using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) modeling. The data used are secondary data about the incidence of DHF from the Sragen District Health Office in 2016-2018. The research subjects were determined by a Registry Based Study approach with a saturated sampling technique. The collected data will be analyzed descriptively by displaying a frequency distribution table, bivariate analysis with the Pearson Product Moment test and spatial-temporal analysis using the Geographic Information System (GIS) function. Results: The results of this study indicate that the spatial distribution of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) events is distributed randomly to all regions in Masaran District, Regency. The incidence of DHF in Masaran Subdistrict, Sragen Regency was related to Rainfall (p = 0.006) with a negative correlation direction (r = -0.741). The incidence of DHF in The Masaran Subdistrict, Sragen Regency was not related to population density (p = 0.839). Spatially-Temporal shows that there are 6 Villages in Masaran Subdistrict, Sragen Regency which are endemic areas of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD), namely Sepat, Dawungan, Masaran, Jati, Pringanom and Krikilan villages. Conclusion: Incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Masaran Subdistrict, Sragen Regency is related to Rainfall, where low rainfall tends to increase the incidence of DHF. During 2016-2018 in Masaran Subdistrict, Sragen Regency, there were 6 villages which were endemic areas of DHF, namely Sepat, Dawungan, Masaran, Jati, Pringanom and Krikilan villages.

<p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Demam berdarah dengue di Kabupaten Bantul selama 5 tahun terakhir menunjukkan wilayah Kecamatan Sewon termasuk dalam wilayah endemis dan Kecamatan Dlingo merupakan Kecamatan dan desa yang memiliki angka kejadian yang paling rendah, bahkan di Desa Dlingo pernah tidak mengalami kejadian Demam berdarah dengue. Penggunaan malathion sebagai salah satu upaya pencegahan yang berlangsung lama di Desa Panggungharjo dimungkinkan dapat terjadi resistensi, sehingga tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui status resistensi malathion di Desa Panggungharjo dan Dlingo. Penelitian pada tahun 2014 merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan uji laboratorium. Objek penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah nyamuk Aedes aegypti hasil rearing yang diperoleh di Desa Panggungharjo dan Dlingo Bantul yang kemudian diuji secara suseptibiltas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nyamuk Aedes aegypti yang berasal dari Desa Panggungharjo telah resistan dan nyamuk Aedes aegypti yang berasal dari Desa Dlingo tidak resisten melainkan masih dalam kategori sedang. Ada perbedaan tingkat resistensi malathion antara Desa Panggungharjo dan Dlingo Bantul Yogyakarta.</p><p>Kata Kunci : Aedes aegypti; Malation; Kerentanan; Resistensi.</p><p> </p><p><strong><em>Abstract</em></strong></p><p><em>Dengue hemorrhagic fever in the district Bantul during the last 5 years shows Sewon district area is also included in the endemic areas and Dlingo is a village that has the lowest incidence. Even at some time in Dlingo there was an  occurrence of dengue hemorrhagic fever. Prolonged use of malathion as one prevention in the Panggungharjo district  may can occur in resistance with this dengue. Purpose of this study was to determine the status of malathion resistance in the Panggungharjo and Dlingo. The research in 2014  was descriptive with laboratory test.  Research object is the Aedes aegypti rearing results obtained from the Panggungharjo and Dlingo Bantul and then tested in susceptibility. The results of this study are Aedes aegypti from the Panggungharjo was resistant with and Aedes aegypti from Dlingo is not resistant but still in the tolerant category. There have different levels of resistance between Panggungharjo and Dlingo Bantul Yogyakarta.</em></p><p><em>Keywords : Aedes aegypti; Malathion; Susceptibility; Resistance.</em></p>

Abstract Commercial insecticides in Asia are used to control insects including mosquitoes, which are about 28-89% in endemic areas of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). West Sulawesi Province is one of the dengue endemic areas in Indonesia. The study is a part of multicenter research “Map of Aedes aegypti Mosquito susceptibility Against Insecticides in Indonesia in 2015”. This study aims to the describe the use of commercial insecticides in three endemic districts of West Sulawesi using a cross-sectional design. Data obtained through interviews and observations conducted in July-August 2015 at least 100 homes which were randomly selected in each RW/RT. Data were analyzed descriptively to describe the use of insecticides, types of formulations, types of active ingredients, and the duration of use. The study found that 85% of respondents used commercial insecticides. Most of the respondents chose to use mosquitoes coil (83.5%), the most active ingredients found were D-allethrin (43.8%) and Dimefluthrin (30.4). Most respondents (45.8%) have been using commercial insecticides for more than five years and more dominant to apply at night (79.1%). The government needs to control the use of insecticides in the community so that there is no DHF vector resistance to insecticides used in DHF control programs. Abstrak Insektisida komersil di Asia  digunakan untuk mengendalikan serangga termasuk  nyamuk, yang sekitar 28-89% berada di daerah endemis Demam Berdarah Dengue (DBD). Provinsi Sulawesi Barat merupakan salah satu daerah endemis DBD di Indonesia. Studi ini merupakan bagian dari penelitian multicenter “Peta Kerentanan Nyamuk Aedes aegypti di Indonesia Tahun 2015”.  Studi  ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran penggunaan insektisida komersil di Sulawesi Barat dengan menggunakan desain potong lintang yang dilakukan di tiga kabupaten endemis DBD. Pengambilan data berupa wawancara dan pengamatan yang dilakukan bulan Juli-Agustus 2015 pada minimal 100 rumah yang dipilih secara acak pada masing-masing RW/RT endemis DBD. Data dianalisa secara deskriptif untuk menggambarkan penggunaan insektisida, jenis formulasi, jenis bahan aktif, dan lama penggunaan. Hasil studi menemukan  sebanyak 85% responden menggunakan insektisida komersil.  Sebagian besar responden memilih menggunakan jenis insektisida bakar (koil) (83,5%), bahan aktif yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah D-allethrin(43,8%) dan Dimefluthrin (30,4). Sebagian besar responden (45,8%) sudah lebih dari lima tahun menggunakan insektisida komersil dan lebih dominan mengaplikasikannya pada malam hari (79,1%). Pemerintah perlu mengontrol penggunaan insektisida di masyarakat, agar tidak terjadi resistensi vektor DBD terhadap insektisida program.
