Aim. To assess the relationship between breastfeeding and maternal education and family income in Samara. Methods. A survey was conducted among 174 mothers in the children's outpatient clinic, in which their children were assigned at the place of residence. Information on breastfeeding and its duration, mother's education, and family income were obtained by questionnaire and copying data from outpatient records. Pearson's chi-square, MannWhitney U test and logistic regression were used in the statistical processing of the data. Results. There was a positive association of maternal education (2=11.25; p=0.024) and income (2=11.5; p=0.022) with breastfeeding practices. Higher education, compared with specialized secondary or secondary education, increased the likelihood of breastfeeding for more than 6 months with an odds ratio of 2.6 (95% confidence interval 1.185.73; p=0.018). The median (and its Q1Q3 quartiles) breastfeeding duration was 4.0 months (Q1Q3 2.014.0 months) for mothers with secondary or specialized secondary education and 12.0 months (Q1Q3 4.018.0 months; p=0.012) for mothers with higher education. It was found that 67.7% of women with incomes above the subsistence level per family member ($150) breastfed for more than 7 months and only 43.9% of women with incomes below the subsistence level (p=0.011). The likelihood of breastfeeding for more than 6 months in household income above one minimum wage per family member compared with household income below increases with an odds ratio of 2.18 (95% confidence interval 1.034.60; p=0.041). There was no relationship between lactation cessation and maternal education or family income. Conclusion. There is a positive relationship between mother's education and family income and the practice of breastfeeding.

Abstract: Mothers Educations, Parity, Early Children Under Five Development. This research aimed to know the relationship of mother and parity education with early children under five development in PAUD Baitul Izzah Bengkulu City. The studied used analytic survey research design. With Cross-Sectional research methods. The population in this studied were all children under five in PAUD Baitul Izzah Bengkulu City that is 28 infants age 3-4 years. Sampling technique in this studied used the Total Sampling means all children under five years, amounted to 28 children. The result obtained from maternal education and party relationship with the development of children under five age 3-4 years in PAUD Baitul Izzah Bengkulu that of 28 of children under five there were 10 (35%) of people who did not good children under five development or 18 good children under five development, Than 28(100%) of children there were 3 (10,7%) of the mothers, children under five and secondary education (89,3%) of the mothers infants of higher education. And there were 17 infants with parity multiparous mother, and 11(39.9%) of the mother, children under five parity primipara.

Background. Hispanics/Latinos in the United States experience both a health advantage and disadvantage in developing diabetes. Ethnic identity, a predictor of psychological well-being, has not been widely applied to physical health outcomes. The objective of this study is to apply what is known regarding ethnic identity and psychological health to physical health outcomes (diabetes) and to explore the moderating effect of education as a possible underlying mechanism of the Hispanic Health Advantage/Disadvantage. Specifically, this study examines (a) the association between ethnic identity and diabetes prevalence among adult Hispanics/Latinos and (b) determines whether education modifies this relationship. Method. Data come from the nationally representative adult U.S. household study, National Latino and Asian American Study (NLAAS), collected in 2001 to 2003 ( N = 1,746). Multiple logistic regression was conducted to examine the relationship between ethnic identity, education, and their interaction with likelihood of diabetes. Results. Hispanics/Latinos with high ethnic identity have a higher odds of reporting diabetes among those with 13 to 15 years of education (odds ratio: 1.84; 95% confidence interval: 1.16–2.92) and a lower odds among those with 16+ years of education (odds ratio: 0.53; 95% confidence interval: 0.34–0.84). Ethnic identity is associated with diabetes prevalence and the relationship is moderated by educational attainment. Conclusion. Given the growth, diversity, and diabetes disparities among Hispanics/Latinos, our buffering and exacerbating findings exemplify the complexity and fluidity of theory in understanding psychological/behavioral processes. The findings highlight the importance of designing targeted health interventions that take into account the diverse psychosocial and educational experiences of Hispanics/Latinos.

Prematurity refers to live births before 37 weeks of gestation and associated with infant morbidity/mortality. Activation of HIF during the final pregnancy phase is believed to play a critical role in the pathogenesis of premature birth and other pregnancy disorders. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between hypoxicstatus and the intensity of HIF-1α expression in a premature placenta.Stored biological materials premature placenta (paraffin blocks) was used in this study. Thirtyone samples of placental hypoxia (H) and 28 samples of premature placental non-hypoxia (N) as controls, were selected non-random consecutively. Subsequently, immunohistochemistry was performed to analyze HIF-1α expression. TheChi-square testwas used to analyze the data and a p-value <0.05 was considered statistically significant.Moderate to strong intensity of HIF-1α expressionwas observed in 58% of hypoxic placenta samples, whereas most of non-hypoxic placental samples(86%) did not expressed or expressed weaklyHIF-1α.There was a significant correlation between the intensity of HIF-1α expression and placental hypoxia (p <0.05) and Odds Ratio (OR) value was 8.31 with a 95% confidence interval (2.32-29.77). The conclusion shows that hypoxic status is associated with intensity of hypoxia inducible factor (HIF)-1α expression in a premature placenta.

The study examines the effect of family income (FI) and financial risk tolerance (FRT) on entrepreneurial intention in students of Universities of the Higher Education Sector located in district Swabi. This is an explanatory and co relational study carrying a sample size of 330 out of the total of all 501 students from public and private Universities in Swabi. Financial determinants are prominent aspects of the study contributing to entrepreneurial intention. The study has established the relationship between FI and FRT on EI of universities of the Higher Education Sector located in district Swabi. The study is a contribution to the rare work on the relationship between financial determinants and entrepreneurial intention. The study revealed that FI and FRT significantly affect EI, whereas the order of contribution of these determinants on EI are evident their coefficients are FRT and FI.

Objective: Socioeconomic status as a determinant of mental health problems has received scant attention in Japan, which has long been considered an egalitarian society. This study examined the association between socioeconomic status and psychological distress and its trends over 6 years among Japanese adolescents. Methods: We used data from a nationally representative sample of 9491 adolescents aged 12–18 years who participated in three repeated cross-sectional surveys between 2007 and 2013. The K6 scale was used to assess psychological distress. Socioeconomic status indicators included household income, parental education, parental working status and household structure. Results: Psychological distress prevalence decreased significantly from 2007 (10.7%) to 2013 (7.6%). However, the socioeconomic status patterns of psychological distress were consistent through the study period. Adolescents living in both lower (odds ratio = 1.61; 95% confidence interval = [1.27, 2.05]) and higher income households (odds ratio = 1.30; 95% confidence interval = [1.03, 1.62]) were more likely to report psychological distress than their middle-income counterparts. Adolescents with low household income were more likely to feel stress from interpersonal relationships and less likely to have help-seeking behaviors, while those with high household income were more likely to feel stress about school achievement. Psychological distress was also associated with parental poor education and single parenthood. Conclusions: Socioeconomic status disparities in adolescent psychological distress were evident and consistent during the 6-year period. There is a unique U-shaped relationship between household income and psychological distress among adolescents in Japan, unlike those from other countries. However, the underlying mechanisms may differ by income status. Future prevention efforts should consider socioeconomic status as a determinant of adolescent mental health problems.

OBJECTIVESTo estimate the incidence and identified risk factors for community-acquired (CA) and hospital-acquired (HA) Clostridium difficile infection (CDI)METHODSWe conducted 2 parallel case-control studies at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2014. We identified persons with CDI, determined whether infection was community or hospital acquired, and calculated incidence rates from 2007 to 2014. We collected demographic, clinical, and epidemiological information for CDI cases and hospitalized control cases and estimated the odds ratio with 95% confidence interval using conditional logistic regression.RESULTSIn total, 1,563 CDI cases were identified in the study. The incidence rate of CA-CDI and HA-CDI increased by 1.6-fold and 1.2-fold, respectively, during 2012–2014. However, the incidence rate of CA-CDI was 0.84 per 100,000 (95% CI, 0.52–1.30), the rate for HA-CDI was 4.7 per 10,000 patient days (95% CI, 4.08–5.38), respectively, in 2014. We identified several factors as independent variables significantly associated with HA-CDI: functional disability, presence of nasogastric tube, antibiotic use, chemotherapy, infection by extended-spectrum β-lactamases, and mean of albumin values. Risk factors independently associated with CA-CDI were close contact with a family member who had been hospitalized in the previous 6 months, inflammatory bowel disease, and home density index (adjusted odds ratio, 25.7; 95% confidence interval, 3.99–165.54; P=.001).CONCLUSIONSThe identification of the main modifiable risk factors for HA-CDI (antibiotic exposure and hypoalbuminemia) and for CA-CDI (close contact with a family member who had been hospitalized in the previous 6 months) is likely to optimize prevention efforts; these factors are critical in preventing the spread of CDI.Infect Control Hosp Epidemiol 2017;38:912–920

Using data from the 2001 Nicaragua Demographic and Health Survey, this paper examines the relationship of a child’s nutritional health outcomes relative to the completion of secondary education of their mother by measuring her child’s height-for-age and weight-for-height. This study focuses on Nicaragua in particular, in contrast to other literature surveying Latin America as a whole. The persistence of malnutrition amongst the population makes Nicaragua a candidate for research in this area, especially in face of educational reforms in the country approximately 10 years prior. In this study the control variables include paternal education, geographic location, socioeconomic status, birth order, and household size; combined to help attenuate the effects of maternal education. The analysis is subdivided to examine the relation of mothers’ education to health outcomes for children of each gender. It was found that maternal secondary education is significant for all scenarios with the exception of gender-separated weight-for-height, and that there is a stronger correlation between health outcomes for girls than for boys when examining maternal education.

Objective. To examine the relationship of exercise with overweight and obesity among an ethnically diverse sample of U.S. children. Method. Data from the 2011-2012 National Survey of Children’s Health were analyzed to examine the relationship of daily exercise with children’s weight status. Propensity score covariate adjustment and multivariate logistic regression with survey weights were used to control for child, home, and community characteristics. Results. Approximately 22% of all children ages 10 to 17 years engaged in daily exercise for at least 20 minutes. In the adjusted model for the entire sample, daily exercise was associated with children having a lower likelihood of being overweight or obese (odds ratio = 0.79; 95% confidence interval = 0.68-0.91). In a stratified analysis of the major racial and ethnic groups, however, while White children who exercised daily were found to have a lower odds of being overweight or obese (odds ratio = 0.70; 95% confidence interval = 0.60-0.82), this relationship was not found for most minority children. Conclusions. Racial and ethnic minority children were not found to have the same weight status relationship with exercising daily. These findings suggest that some population-average exercise recommendations may not be as applicable to minority children.

Child growth is the increase in the number, size of an organ and the development of the ability (skill) of complex and regular body functions. Many factors influence, one of which is family factor. Growth will be optimal if the various factors of the family is improved, both in terms of quantity and quality. The problem in this research is the unknown relationship of mother education level and family economic level on the growth of children under five (1-5 years) at Puskesmas Pemulutan of Ogan Ilir Regency covering dependent variable and independent variable. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between maternal education level and family economic level on the growth of children under five years (1-5 years) in Puskesmas Pemulutan Ogan Ilir District. This research is a descriptive analytic research with cross sectional approach to know the relationship of education level of mother and the economic level of the family on the growth of children under five (1-5 years) conducted on 50 samples by using the total population of mothers with children aged 1-5 years in Puskesmas Pemulutan Ogan Ilir. In this study, it was found that 50 mothers with children aged 1-5 years of education owned by the mother percentage were not much different from the well-educated mothers (53.0%), (70.0% ) family income is low, and the growth of children in Puskesmas Pemulutan is normal (62.0%). From the research results found that there is a relationship between the level of education of the mother and the economic level of the family with the growth of children. Therefore, it is recommended that health workers and posyandu cadres are more active in providing information, counseling, and early detection of child development.
