The article presents the results of a study of the element status of residents of different ethnic groups (Koryak, even, mestizo) Magadan region. By atomic emission and mass spectral analizovs inductively coupled plasma quantity content of co, cu, Fe, Zn, si, al, cd, Pb, sn, Hg hair. there was a slight deviation of the content of some essential elements (copper, iron, zinc) in aboriginal and Mtis on average. it is suggested that this phenomenon is caused by adaptation to the conditions of the indigenous population of the north. these low levels of heavy metals - aluminum, cadmium, lead, tin, cobalt, mercury, indicates the relative well-being of the environment in terms of pollution with toxic elements. the higher silicon content in the hair of aboriginal and Mtis is consistent with the data that the Magadan region is silicic province. Variability of the most studied trace elements higher in the Mtis compared with the natives. High individual variability of chemical elements can be the result of an imbalance element in disadaptative organism to the environment, or a manifestation of the individual characteristics of the organism. the possible consequences of deficiency and excess of trace elements in the indigenous population of the north.

The impact of shift and night work on health shows a high inter- and intra-individual variability, both in terms of kind of troubles and temporal occurrence, related to various intervening factors dealing with individual characteristics, lifestyles, work demands, company organisation, family relations and social conditions. The way we define "health" and "well-being" can significantly influence appraisals, outcomes and interventions. As the goal is the optimisation of shiftworkers' health, it is necessary to go beyond the health protection and to act for health promotion. In this perspective, not only people related to medical sciences, but many other actors (ergonomists, psychologists, sociologists, educators, legislators), as well as shiftworkers themselves. Many models have been proposed aimed at describing the intervening variables mediating and/or moderating the effects; they try to define the interactions and the pathways connecting risk factors and outcomes through several human dimensions, which refer to physiology, psychology, pathology, sociology, ergonomics, economics, politics, and ethics. So, different criteria can be used to evaluate shiftworkers' health and well-being, starting from biological rhythms and ending in severe health disorders, passing through psychological strain, job dissatisfaction, family perturbation and social dis-adaptation, both in the short- and long-term. Consequently, it appears rather arbitrary to focus the problem of shiftworkers' health and tolerance only on specific aspects (e.g. individual characteristics), but a systemic approach appears more appropriate, able to match as many variables as possible, and aimed at defining which factors are the most relevant for those specific work and social conditions. This can support a more effective and profitable (for individuals, companies, and society) adoption of preventive and compensative measures, that must refer more to "countervalues" rather than to "counterweights".

The subject of this research is displacement of the indigenous small-numbered peoples in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation neighboring with Yakutia. The object is the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North residing in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Irkutsk Oblast, Zabaykalsky Krai, Amur Oblast, Khabarovsk Krai, Magadan Oblast, and Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. These constituent entities of the Russian Federation have contiguous territories with the Sakha Republic. The author examines the displacement and size of the indigenous population of the regions of the Russian Federation neighboring with Yakutia. Special attention is given to clarification of the places of traditional dwelling of the indigenous small-numbered peoples in the aforementioned regions of the Russian Federation. It is established that the following ethnic groups reside in the territory contiguous to Yakutia: Dolgans, Evenks, Evens, Yukaghirs and Chukchi. The areas of residence of the listed ethnic groups border with the areas of settlement of the corresponding indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North in the territory of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). The author’s special contribution lies in the analysis of displacement and size of the indigenous population in the regions of the Russian Federation neighboring with Yakutia on the local level. The novelty of consists in the territorial analysis of the places of traditional dwelling of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North.

Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YNAO), located in the northern part of the Tyumen Region, is inhabited by both indigenous and non-indigenous population. On its territory, there is a pronounced imbalance of chemical elements in the water, soil, and plants, which directly affect the elemental status of the population. Taking into account the significant differences in the nature of nutrition and lifestyle of the indigenous and newcomer population in the North, it was of interest to study the concentration of chemical elements in their hair. 173 residents of YNAO were examined: 1) 92 newcomers – 40 (43.5 %) men and 52 (56.5 %) women, who had been living in YNAO for 10 years; 2) 81 aborigines – 33 (40.7 %) men and 48 (59.3 %) women. Their mean age was 38.3 ± 9.6 years. The concentrations of Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Cu, Cr, Zn, Se, Cd, Pb, and Hg in the hair were determined by means of inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) at the Centre for Biotic Medicine (Moscow). Statistically significantly higher concentrations of Ca and Mg were established against the background of a lower content of Fe and Mn in newcomers compared to the indigenous population of YNAO (p < 0.001–0.011). At the same time, both groups had almost identical content of Cu and Zn. In addition, the indigenous population showed higher concentrations of Cr (p = 0.046), Se (p < 0.001), Hg (p = 0.019), and Cd (p = 0.030) and a slight excess of Pb in their hair. The established differences in the elemental status of newcomers and aboriginal inhabitants of YNAO are associated with the geochemical characteristics of this territory, dietary habits (lower consumption of simple carbohydrates by the aborigines and a large amount of fish in their diet), as well as widespread smoking among the indigenous people.

Mercury and lead are not essential elements and have a high degree of toxicity to all groups of living organisms, including hydrobionts. In turn, the accumulation of dangerous chemical elements in the primary trophic units of marine ecosystems is also reflected in the high level of accumulation and toxication of fish-valuable objects of fishing. As part of the study of the ecological state of the biota of the Volga-Caspian basin, there is a need to study the concentrations of heavy metals such as mercury and lead. The aim of the work is to study the content of mercury and lead in some invertebrate species of the Caspian Sea. The main source of mercury and lead in the body of the studied species is the water of the north-western part of the Caspian Sea. Among the studied taxonomic groups of organisms, mercury accumulators were all species of mollusks, as well as Balanus improvises and Rhithropanopeus harrisii. The lead concentrating organisms were Cerastoderma lamarcki and Mytilaster lineatus, Rhithropanopeus harrisii, and Balanus improvises.

The aim of the work is to study the peculiarities of the formation of the microelement composition of sod-carbonate soils of the North-West Caucasus. Methods: Determination of the features of the formation of the microelement composition of sod-carbonate soils was carried out in the western part of the Labino-Malkinsky landscape district of forest-steppes and settled meadows. The Kuestov District occupies a band of ridges of the North-western Caucasus, composed of limestones, dolomites and sandstones of the Jurassic (K) and Cretaceous (k) periods. Chemical analysis of the soil was performed by conventional methods. The content of strongly bound compounds Pb, Cu, Zn, and Cd by acid decomposition using 5 M HNO3 was analyzed in the humus horizon of soils. The metal content was determined by the methods of inversion volt-amperometric and atomic absorption analyses. Results: In most cases, the microelement composition of sod-carbonate soils is characterized by the enrichment of Pb, Cu, Cd and depletion of Zn in comparison with the Clark soils. The constant anthropogenic input of pollutants into the soil as a depositing medium directly affects the trace element composition-the soils are intensively enriched with all the elements considered, especially strongly accumulated on CD and PB. In the radial distribution of trace elements between sod-carbonate soils and the soil-forming rock, a high intensity of accumulation of chemical elements in the humus horizon of soils was revealed. The intensity of the redistribution of trace elements in soils is largely determined by the position in the terrain. Within the Cretaceous cuesta, high Cd contents are typical for plakor soils, Cu and Zn-for the soils of the slope of the beam. On the slope of the Jurassic questi higher contents of Pb, Cd and Cu are typical for soils of placorestan cavage array Zn for soils of steep hillside with oak and beech forests. Conclusions: The microelement composition of sod-carbonate soils is a consequence of such soil-forming processes as humification, humus accumulation, leaching, glinting, and loess age, the specifics of which are largely determined by calcium carbonates. The microelement composition of sod-carbonate soils reflects the most significant features of the microelement composition of soil-forming rocks, which are characterized by low Zn content. The possible aerotechnogenic intake of trace elements affects the intensity of the radial accumulation of trace elements in the soil relative to the rocks. The degree of transformation of the microelement composition of anthropogenic disturbed soils depends on the intensity of anthropogenic impact on the soil. The conducted research is important in the aspect of revealing the regularities of the formation of the microelement composition of the soil as a depositing component of the landscape in modern conditions of anthropogenic pressure.

Выявлен вклад тюркского по происхождению компонента в генофонд различных этносов Дагестана и Северного Кавказа, который присутствует не только у тюркоязычных популяций, но и у соседних с ними. В горных популяциях Дагестана, в отличие от равнинных, тюркский компонент практически полностью отсутствует. The contribution of Turkic genetic component to the gene pool of various ethnic groups of Dagestan and the North Caucasus, which is present not only in Turkic-speaking populations, but also in neighboring ones, is revealed. In the mountain populations of Dagestan, unlike the plains, the Turkic component is almost completely absent.

The excavations headed by O. P. Motsa of the settlement on the bank of the river Nyvka in Sofiivska Borshchahivka in the western suburb of Kiev provided the representative collection, containing a number of items, quite rare, and even unique in the South Rus lands. One of them is the bronze pin with a total length of about 10 cm casted in two-sided form with a top in the form of duck. The researchers consider the pins, as a part of the costume, attributed to the Baltic and Finnish-Ugric population, which surrounded the North Rus lands and partially was a part of the Old Rus state. Initially, through contacts with the latter, these items got to Novgorod and other destinations (in Chersonese, for example, according to experts, such things serve as an indicator of ties with suppliers of northern fur). The pin from the Sofiyivska Borshchahivka settlement obviously represents a further development of the shape of these decorations: in its upper part above three petals with inserted rings there is a three-dimensional figure of a duck with its head pointing back. Analysis of literature allows trace the usage of a small group of similar ear-picks and pins with figures of a rooster, a dog etc. — species that have long been valued by various ethnic groups. The decoration from Sofiyivska Borshchahivka reflects the level of development of medieval metal-plastics, shows the cultural ties (especially along with other items presented on the site which tend to the specified region), acts as an indicator of both the high well-being of the population of medieval settlement structures and not yet exhausted information opportunities of the latter.

By methods of atom-emission and mass spectrometry with inductively bonded argon plasma there was determined the content of 25 macro- and trace elements in tap cold drinking water used by the residents of the city of Magadan for food purposes and in hair samples of 30 young male Europeans aged of 17-23 years, who are the residents of the city of Magadan. According to our data the content of 25 elements in drinking water conforms to standards, but that content of such essential elements as Co, Cr, Cu, I, Mn, Na, Se, Zn is shown to be lower than referential indices. After boiling the water the concentration of trace elements is changed. The content of Cd, Cu, K, P, Pb, Zn, Ni becomes lower significantly. In healthy young men aged of 17-23 years, from the number of natives Europeoids, residents of the North there was detected deficit of Co and I (86% and 62%, respectively), lower concentrations of Ca, Mg, Se, Zn (76%, 69%, 24%, 24%, respectively). The constant use by residents of the city of Magadan of ultrafresh brackish drinking water in food aims may be the one of the main reasons of the imbalance of macro- and micronutrients in the body, characterized by features of the so-called "northern" type with a marked deficiency of basic essential elements.

Opening ParagraphAnkole is a district in the south-west of the Uganda Protectorate. Its inhabitants, as a result of fifty years of British administration, are being gradually welded together into one people, the Banyankole. There are, however, two distinct ethnic groups in the country: the Bantu aborigines who till the soil and the cattlekeeping Bahima. The latter were Hamitic invaders from the north, who brought with them their own long-horned cattle, easily distinguishable from the small shorthorned zebu type found already in the country. Their one aim in life was and is the well-being of their herds.

Abstract: In this review, we present information about the presence of trace elements on streams and the consequences related to the increase of these chemical elements on aquatic systems. Although several studies on trace elements contamination in aquatic environments are conducted on point sources, non-point sources also have a high potential to contaminate water bodies. Some trace elements are important for the development of an organism. However, even essential elements, in high concentrations, may be toxic to aquatic organisms. In some cases, trace elements may accumulate and be transferred along food webs, generating changes in the structure and functioning of terrestrial ecosystems. The phytoremediation techniques could be an important tool in reducing the problems generated by trace elements. Thus, understanding the effects generated by the increase of trace elements concentrations on aquatic ecosystems becomes important to help public managers to apply solutions for the mitigation of this chemical pollution on natural resources.
