Background: The increment of terminal health problems causes the demand for palliative care to increase. Nurses’ attitudes toward palliative care have critical implications on the quality of care for terminally ill patients. This study aimed to investigate non-palliative care nurses’ attitudes towards death and dying patients in palliative care in Indonesia.Method: A cross-sectional design was performed in four general hospitals, five primary health centers, and three nursing homes in Yogyakarta. Systematic random sampling was the method employed. The research instrument used Frommelt Attitudes towards Care of the Dying (FATCOD). FATCOD is a 30-item tool using a five-point Likert scale to indicate respondents' attitudes toward caring for dying patients. Attitudes had two categories, namely favorable (≥ mean score of the total score of (FATCOD) Scale) and unfavorable ( mean score of the total score of (FATCOD) Scale). Two hundred seventeen (217) non-palliative care nurses completed the FATCOD and a ten-item demographic questionnaire. The data analysis used descriptive statistics, chi-square, and linear regression. Results: The total FATCOD score achieved in this study was 111.29±9.44 (range 30–150). Concerning nurses’ attitudes towards the family members of terminally ill dying patients, the score was 39.85 (±4.12) out of a possible 50. Besides attitudes towards patient care provision, the score was 71.43 (±6.39) out of a possible 100. The nurses' attitudes towards the dying patients showed that the favorable and unfavorable attitudes had almost the same percentage. Of significance, working experience variables were associated with attitudes in the total FATCOD and patient FATCOD. Working experience and level of education were related to attitudes towards the family FATCOD.Conclusion: Non-palliative care nurses had a favorable attitude towards palliative care. The ministry of health should give awareness by providing various training, workshop, formal and informal education about PC for nurses.

Background: A nutrition awareness of family (kadarzi) can be actualized through family empowerment by improving knowledge and attitude toward nutrition alert behavior. To implement the program of kadarzi needs a motivator, i.e. a husband as head of the family. The result of kadarzi mapping at Bandung Municipality in 2005 showed that 57.23% of families were not nutrition alert. Therefore, it is necessary to study the relationship between knowledge and attitude of husbands and behavior of kadarzi. Objective: To identify the relationship between knowledge and attitude of husbands and behavior of kadarzi.Method: The study was observational with cross sectional design using quantitative method. Analysed units were 378 households with husbands and wives as respondents. Location of the study was Bandung Municipality and samples were taken using multistage cluster technique. Data of knowledge and attitude of husbands in kadarzi were obtained through observation using check list. Data analysed with univariable and bivariable technique; statistical test used chi square (χ2 ) and multivariable analysis used logistic regression statistical test. Results: Knowledge of husbands on kadarzi was 63.2% belonged to high category and 36.6% belonged to low category. Attitude of husbands toward kadarzi was 53.2% belonged to strong category and 46.8% belonged to weak category. As much as 69.60% of families had not practiced kadarzi and 30.40% had practiced kadarzi. The result of statistical test showed that there were significant relationship between knowledge and attitude of husbands and behavior of kadarzi, wives’ level of education and activities and behavior of kadarzi (p<0.05).Conclusion: There was a siginifcant relationship between knowledge and attitude of husbands and behavior of kadarzi when control variables of wives’ education and activities were included in the analysis.

Family planning (KB) is an action that helps husband and wife to avoid unwanted pregnancies, get a very desirable birth, adjust the pregnancy interval, and control the time of birth in relation to the age of the husband and wife and find the number of children in the family. Pregnancy control in the family planning program is carried out using contraceptives so that the husband's support is needed. The purpose of this study is to see the relationship between husband's support and the participation of IUD family planning acceptors at Puskesmas Mandiangin, MKS Bukittinggi District, 2019. This research was conducted in July 2019. Research methodology analytic survey with Cross Sectional design. The population was family planning acceptors by taking samples of 69 IUD family planning acceptors. Data processing and analysis were performed by computerization using the Chi Square statistical test at a significance limit of 0.05. The results showed that ρ = .0.013. From this value, it is known that the value of ρ <0.05, which indicates that there is a relationship between husband's support and participation in IUD family planning. This relationship is also supported by the value of the OODs ratio = 0.769, which means that a wife who can get support from the mother will have a chance of 0.769 times to become an IUD KB acceptor. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between husband's support and participation in KB IUD in the Work area of the Mandiangin Puskesmas, MKS District, Bukittinggi City, 2019 with a p-value (0.013 <0.05). It can be suggested that the husband should provide support to his wife in using contraception, both emotional support and in the form of appreciation support, in order to create a happy family.

The quality of palliative care given to terminally ill patients and their family members can be directly impacted by the attitudes that nurses hold towards palliative care. This study aimed to investigate the attitudes of nonpalliative care nurses towards death and dying in the context of palliative care. Nurses working within the medical aged care, cardiology and respiratory wards at two metropolitan teaching hospitals in Sydney completed the Frommelt Attitudes Towards Care of the Dying (FATCOD) scale, an anonymous self-administered questionnaire, and a twelve-item demographic questionnaire. A total of 95 completed surveys were used in the final analysis. The total FATCOD score was 119.8±11.1, patient FATCOD was 79.6±8.6, and family FATCOD was 40.2±4.4. Of significance, the professional variables designation and role were associated with attitudes in the total FATCOD and country of birth, designation, highest level of education, and role were associated with attitudes towards the patient FATCOD. Scores for communication between the nurse and the terminally ill patient were poor. Health care facilities should focus on developing strategies to improve the communication skills among nonpalliative care nurses in order to optimize patient outcomes.
