School Based Curriculum or ―Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan” (KTSP) 2008 requires teaching and learning activities that should be active, innovative, creative, enjoyable, cheerful and qualified. In order to share or help teachers, this Research and Development (R&D) research was conducted that may inspire them in developing teaching and learning materials for the expected class. The scope of this study is developing written news item text materials for the ten graders of senior high school so that the students are able to create a simple short news item texts which are classified into four kinds: straight, interpretative, investigative and color news stories. The method used was adapted and adjusted from Hyland‘s Model of material development. The process started from doing a survey, followed by developing materials, having experts and teachers validation, doing first revision, trying out, writing second revision, and producing final result. The try out resulted student average score 76,14 that means the students achieved 79,55 % above minimum national learning mastery, 75. This study focuses on the written news item texts from the 3 sources, namely newspapers, magazine and internet. Since the three sources are available in one source, the internet, the final product is entitled ―3 News in 1‖ accompanied by Interactive Self-study VCD‘. Keywords: R&D; News item texts;  teaching & Learning materials.

It is obvious that the textbooks play a key role in enhancing the quality of teaching and learning. The good quality textbooks must meet the criteria or standard as a textbook. This paper aims to describe the accuracy of materials provided in the Bahasa Indonesia textbook for the first grade of Senior High School curriculum of 2013. This study adopted the content analysis method to analyze the data. The findings deriving from this study reveal that the accuracy of learning material provided in Bahasa Indonesia textbook for the first grade of Senior High School (Sekolah Menengah Atas) curriculum of 2013 published by Erlangga has adequately met the standard requirements of Board of National Education Standards (Badan Standar Nasional Pendidikan, BSNP) for the accuracy of learning material of a textbook. However, this study found some weaknesses in the textbook as follows: (1) The textbook has not provided a ‘Competency Map’ containing principles used by students to achieve their learning goals and understand the learning materials provided in each chapter in order that the materials delivered can be well-structured. (2) The examples provided in the textbook are less relevant to the characteristics of diverse backgrounds and social statuses; contain the issues of ethnicity, religion, race, intergroup relations; and do not suit the needs.   Keywords: Curriculum of 2013, The accuracy of learning materials, Textbooks.

This research is a study of the Development of Teaching and Learning Materials based on   Inquiry Model through the Drosophila Virtual Laboratory in an Effort to Improve Student Learning Outcomes in Biology at Senior High School on Topic Learning Patterns of Mendelian Law. The subject of this research is Teaching and Learning Materials. Based on the validator’s result   the whole device is worth and can be applied. Based on the results of the application in the field, it appears that fulfillment of the lesson plan takes place very well. Student activity reaches 100% meaning that all students are active. Completeness results of the study of the students show a very significant change, the average score is 85, which means all students complete the study. From the response of the students, generally they can accept/agree the learning tool developed by inquiry model through Virtual Drosophila Labs. It is an effective and innovative device that can make students more active, help them in improving their learning outcomes of the aspect of the spiritual, social, knowledge, and skills. Based on the results of the study can be concluded that the teaching and learning materials developed in this research is feasible and can be applied to improve student learning outcomes in biology at senior high school on topic learning patterns of Mendelian Law.Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran Biologi SMA dengan  model inkuiri melalui Drosophila Virtual Laboratory pada Materi Pokok  Pola-pola Hukum Mendel. Subyek penelitian ini adalah perangkat pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil validasi  seluruh perangkat dikategorikan baik dan layak diimplementasikan. Berdasarkan hasil penerapan di lapangan tampak bahwa RPP terlaksana dengan baik. Aktivitas siswa mencapai 100%, yang artinya seluruh  siswa bersifat aktif. Ketuntasan hasil belajar siswa menunjukan perubahan yang sangat signifikan,  yaitu skor rata-rata 85  yang berarti seluruh siswa tuntas. Dari sisi respon siswa, secara umum mereka dapat menerima/setuju bahwa perangkat  pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dengan model inkuiri melalui Virtual Drosophila Labs merupakan perangkat yang efektif dan inovatif, dapat membuat siswa lebih aktif, membantu dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dari aspek spiritual, sosial, pengetahuan, dan ketrampilan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini berkategori layak dan dapat diterapkan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada pembelajaran Biologi SMA materi pokok pola-pola Hukum Mendel.

Teknologi dan bahasa asing adalah dua hal yang saling berkesinambungan. Penguasaan dua materi tersebut menjadi sebuah keniscayaan bagi sivitas akademika baik pendidik maupun siswa. Hal ini karena, mayoritas kegiatan pembelajaran berhubungan dengan alat-alat digital dan bahasa asing dalam penyampaiannya. Tekhnologi diciptakan untuk mempermudah usaha manusia, selain itu ia juga dapat meningkatkan  pencapaian tujuan. Dalam pengajaran bahasa asing, siswa cenderung lebih mudah  memahami materi jika disampaikan dalam bentuk gambar, film, video ataupun animasi. Pengajaran Bahasa bahasa Asing saat ini masih dianggap kurang memuaskan dikarenakan materi yang disampaikan terlalu monoton dan kurang bersentuhan dengan tekhnologi sehingga kurang menarik untuk disampaikan. Kedua, materi ajar lebih banyak  diasosiasikan dengan  buku  teks  pelajaran. Padahal sebenarnya,  materi ajar dapat berupa kamus, kaset, video, lembar kerja, dan sebagainya. Berdasarkan hal-hal di atas, maka peneliti mengembangkan materi pelajaran Bahasa Asing pada Madrasah Tsanawiyah berbasis Whiteboard Animation. Technology and foreign language are two related things. Mastery in the above two is a must for academic people, either for the teachers or the students. It is because, majority, the learning activity are done with the help of digital technology and foreign language. Technology is created in order to help human activity and also to improve the goals’ achievement. While in the teaching and learning process, students tend to understand the material more if it is delivered in the form of picture, movie, video or animation. The foreign learning, nowaday, is considered unsatisfied since the material delivered is monotone and less in touch with the technology, so it is not really attractive. Second, the learning materials are assosiated more with textbook. While actually, the learning materials can be in the form of dictionary, cassette, video, worksheet and so on. Based on the above fact, the researcher improvr the foreign (English and Arabic) learning materials for Islamic Junior High School based on whiteboard animation.

Latar belakang dari penelitian ini adalah kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat pada tradisi motong munggel, baik itu masyarakat Kabupaten Tasikmalaya secara khusus ataupun masyarakat Jawa Barat secara umumnya. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan mengenai (1) sejarah tradisi motong munggel, (2) langkah-langkah dalam tradisi motong munggel, (3) unsur semiotik dalam tradisi motong munggel, dan (4) bahan ajar membaca artikel tradisi motong munggel. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode kualitatif desktiptif dengan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pedoman wawancara dan kartu data. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah; pertama, sejarah mengenai tradisi motong munggel, dimana tradisi ini mulai dilaksanakan di Desa Jayamukti kurang lebih sejak tahun 1989; kedua, adanya langkah-langkah dalam tradisi motong munggel terdiri dari tiga bagian yaitu langkah-langkah sebelum, langkah-langkah saat berlangsung, dan langkah-langkah setelah berlangsungnya tradisi motong munggel; ketiga, tanda yang ditemukan dalam tradisi motong munggel berjumlah 23 tanda, yang terdiri atas 14 ikon, indeks sebanyak 6 , dan simbol sebanyak 3; keempat, hasil dari penelitian ini bisa dijadikan sebagai bahan pembelajaran membaca artikel budaya di SMA kelas XII. Tradisi motong munggel merupakan suatu tradisi yang harus dilestarikan. Selain dari memiliki tujuan, nilai-nilai dan tanda-tanda yang memiliki makna bagi kehidupanpun dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan pembelajaran membaca artikel di SMA kelas XII.AbstractThe background of this study was the lack of knowledge on Motong Munggel tradition of Tasikmalaya people in particular and West Java people in general. The purpose of this study was to describe all aspects of Motong Munggel tradition include; (1) the history, (2) the steps (3) the semiotic elements, and (4) reading article teaching and learning materials. The method used in this research was the descriptive qualitative method with observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The instruments used in this study were interview guidelines and data cards. The results of this study are as it follows: first, the history revealed that tradition of Motong Munggel began to be practiced in Jayamukti village since 1989; second, the steps in the Motong Munggel tradition consist of three parts, i.e. the preceding steps, in progress step, and the steps after Motong Munggel performed; third, there were 23 signs found consisted of 14 icons, six indexes, and three symbols; fourth, the results of this study can be used as teaching and learning material for cultural article reading of Grade XII Senior High School students. Motong Munggel is a tradition that has to be preserved. Besides it has meaningful goals, values and signs that have for people life it can also be used as teaching and learning material.

This study aims: (a) to investigate the principal's planning process in implementing school-based management at Senior High School of Dwi Warna Medan, b) to investigate the principal's implementation strategy in implementing school-based management in Dwi  Warna Medan High School, and (c) to know the form of supervision and evaluation of the principal in the application of school-based management at  Senior High School of Dwi Warna  Medan. The type of this research is field research by using qualitative methods and descriptive approach. Data collection is conducted through interviews, observations and documentation in the field by involving principals and other school residents. The results of the research indicate that: (a) The process of planning the implementation of school- based management at  Senior High School of Dwi Warna runs pretty well and is implemented by involving the committee and all other school components; (b) The principal's implementation strategy in implementing school-based management is quite well implemented, this is proven by involving all components of the school, and (c) The form of supervision and evaluation of school-based management implementation at  Senior High School of Dwi Warna runs quite well. This is evidenced by the two supervision techniques that are carried out regularly by the principal. The evaluation not only emphasizes the process of teaching and learning activities, but also considers the other necessary aspects, for example: the competence of educators, students,  infrastructure, finance and community relations.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis dan pola rima yang terdapat dalam cerita pantun serta implikasinya untuk bahan pembelajaran apresiasi sastra di SMA. Metode deskrptif digunakan dalam penelitian ini, data diolah dengan menggunakan tekhnik telaah pustaka. Data rima yang diperoleh dari cerita pantun Budak Mandjor yang dipantunkan oleh Ki Atjeng Tamadipura (Situraja – Sumedang) sejumlah 582 rima dengan frekuensi 1.182 kali. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan 11 jenis rima yang meliputi  purwakanti pangluyu, purwakanti maduswara, purwakanti mindoan kawit, purwakanti laras madya,  purwakanti cakraswara, purwakanti rangkepan, purwakanti laras wekas, purwakanti mindoan wekas, purwakanti margaluyu, purwakanti laras purwa, purwakanti mindoan kata. Jenis rima yang paling dominan adalah purwakanti pangluyu yang berjumlah 125 dengan frekuensi sebanyak 246 kali (20,81%). Sedangkan pola yang ditemukan dari setiap jenis rima tersebut merupakan pola struktur bahasa yang meliputi konsonan, vokal, suku kata, kata dan frasa. Hasil penelitian ini direkomendasikan untuk bahan pembelajaran aprésiasi sastra di SMA kelas XII. AbstractThis study aimed to describe the types and patterns of rhymes contained in pantun story and their implications for literature appreciation teaching and learning materials in senior high school. This study employed descriptive method, and its data were processed by literature review techniques. The data of rhyme obtained from the story of the Budak Mandjor pantun story sung by Ki Atjeng Tamadipura (Situraja - Sumedang) of total 582 rhymes with a frequency of 1.182 times. This study found 11 types of rhymes which included purwakanti pangluyu, purwakanti maduswara, purwakanti mindoan kawit, purwakanti laras madya, purwakanti cakraswara, purwakanti rangkepan, purwakanti laras wekas, purwakanti mindoan wekas, purwakanti margaluyu, purwakanti laras purwa, purwakanti mindoan kata. The most dominant type of rhyme is purwakanti pangluyu, which totaled 125 and its frequency is 246 times (20.81%). While the pattern type found in each rhyme is a language structure pattern that includes consonants, vowels, syllables, words and phrases. The results of this study are recommended for literary teaching-learning materials in Grade XII Senior High School.

Inaccessibility of electronic dictionaries for learning pronunciation of elementsand compounds in Chemistry was found at Semarang State Senior High School 2. Theobserved inaccessibility came from the Chemistry teacher who shared her problemsthat her students got difficulties in pronouncing elements and compounds. Then, theexisting electronic dictionaries were lack of the words they needed. Hence, this studywould like to develop an Electronic Dictionary of Elements and Compounds inChemistry (EDECC) for assisting students, notably the tenth graders of SemarangState Senior High School 2, to improve their pronunciation in learning elements andcompounds. This study employed Research and Development design to develop theEDECC. This design was adopted and modified fromBorg and Gall (2003:772). Sevenstages were employed for developing EDECC were information and research collecting,planning, developing, validating, revising, try out, and producing final EDECC.Observation, interview, validation, and pre-test also post-test were administered tocollect the data while both quantitative and qualitative approaches were used toanalyze the collected data. From the result of observations, questionnaires, validation,interviews, and pre-test and post-testwere found that applying the EDECC gainedpositive perspectives toward teaching and learning process.Moreover, the test ofeffectiveness consisting validity and reliability tests on pretest and posttest employingquasi experimental design reported that there was significant difference between theresult of pretest and posttest. This research is a quasi-experimental research at the objective of finding the increasing student’s reading comprehension achievement through the cognitive strategies (rehearsal, organization, and elaboration) and to what extent these cognitive strategies influences the student’s reading comprehension achievement. The subject of the research was Senior High School of Sidenreng Rappang regency consisting of 50 respondents into two classes from 11 schools of Sidenreng Rappang; each class consisted of 25 respondents, one class a control and another class as the tentative one. The data were collected through the reading comprehension test in pretest and posttest and the observation checklist during the teaching and learning process. The test consisted 0f 45 items of test from three kinds (news item, descriptive, and narrative text). The observation checklist consisted of four statements for rehearsal strategies, three statements for organization strategies, and one statement for elaboration strategy. The research findings showed that the students’ reading comprehension increased for both groups from pretest to posttest. The experimental group was higher than the control one (60.6 > 50.1) and the t-test was greater than the P-Value (0.05 > 0.007) which means that there was a significant difference after giving treatment to the experimental group. The application of cognitive strategies also influenced positively to the increasing students’ reading comprehension achievement. So, it was concluded that the use of cognitive strategies (rehearsal, organization, and elaboration) is useful to increase students’ reading comprehension in teaching and learning words.

Many researchers have developed scientific literacy, but no one has done scientific literacy study on biology teaching materials that include environmental change materials. The purpose of this study is to assess scientific literacy in senior high school biology teaching materials utilized by teachers in Palembang's Ilir Barat I district. This research was conducted using biology teaching materials in the form of books and modules used by teachers in grade X in 13 senior high schools in Ilir Barat I district, Palembang, both in public and private schools. This study employed a descriptive technique with content analysis, which included collecting and assessing biology teaching materials for senior high school grade X. All biology teaching materials for grade X of senior high school utilized in Ilir Barat I district Palembang were used as the population in this study, with environmental changes in biology teaching and learning materials for grade X of senior high school as the sample. The findings revealed that the scientific literacy category was represented in the teaching materials used in 13 senior high schools in the district of Ilir Barat 1 Palembang, with an average percentage of 34.24% for the body of knowledge, 45.35% for a method of investigation, 9.75% for a method of thinking, and 10.86% for the category of science, technology, and society interaction.
