Indonesian culture has influenced the way people perceive counselling, which shows the tendency towards avoidance attitudes. The situation presents a challenge towards the feasibility of person-centred counselling to be applied in Indonesia, as the counselling approach tends to come across with Indonesian culture. This paper aims to critically discuss the potential challenges of working with the Indonesian client from a cultural point of view and the readiness of a counsellor in terms of knowledge about non-directive counselling by reviewing some literature in depth. The exploration of the challenges shows that the biggest obstacle to applying the non-directive attitude in Indonesia is the factor of the difficulty to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the non-directive concept rather than the factor of cultural difference. However, this challenge can be handled by understanding the concept of principled and instrumental non-directiveness which gives a view of flexibility and the broaden meaning of the non-directive attitude. Conclusively, there are no exclusions, limitations or boundaries from the person-centred approach that can convince the impossibility of becoming a non-directive counsellor in the Indonesian culture. The presence of inevitable challenges arising from the culture of Indonesia will not significantly affect the counsellor, if the non-directive attitudes have become part of the counsellor’s self-concept.

This paper examines the work of Billy Wilder whose rich cinematic production frequently involves the collision of different languages as well as the clash of dissimilar cultures. As an Austrian living in the USA, the director had the privilege of gaining insight into his adopted culture from the point of view of an outsider – a bilingual ‘other’ who made 25 films in almost 40 years of working in Hollywood. His films recurrently depict foreign characters at which Wilder pokes fun whether they are English, French, German, Italian, Russian or even the Americans of his adopted country. More precisely, the paper offers an overview of the multi-modal portrayals of diverse ‘foreigners’, namely Germans, Russians, French and Italians, with examples taken from a small but significant sample of Wilder’s films. The subtitling of dialogue in the secondary language for the target English-speaking audience and the specific translation solutions are not within the scope of this discussion, instead we focus on the comic collision of two languages and more importantly, on the way Wilder implements humour to highlight the absurdity of cultural difference. In other words, our main goal is to explore two or more languages in contrast when they become a humorous trope.

In my point of view, the construction technique of mortise-and-tenon joinery in China may come from Egypt. And we can get a hypothesis that Narmer (Yu the Great) may use the Egyptian boats to come to Zhejiang, China (中国浙江). Besides, in my point of view, the single-log coffin in the Royal Mausoleum of Yue Kingdom on the Seal Mount resembles Abydos boats in meaning and shape. By the way, from the remains of Narmer (Yu the Great) in China and Japan, it can further prove hyperdiffusionism from Egypt by Grafton Elliot Smith. Besides, a series of conclusions can be drawn from the comparative study of Ancient Egyptian hieroglyph characters and ancient Chinese characters: the hieroglyph name of eighth nome of Upper Egypt is the Chinese character Ji(冀). The ancient Abydos city is the Yang (阳) city which was the capital of Chinese recorded several Emperors, Yao (Iry-Hor/Ro), Shun (Ka/Sekhen), Yu (Narmer). Furthermore, we can get a conclusion that Double Phoenixes Greeting the Sun in the archway in Yu mausoleum (大禹陵) resembles winged sun disk symbol in Egypt in meaning and shape. By the way, in my point of view, wupeng boat(乌篷船) resembles the unique and striking black boat of Tomb 100, the oldest tomb with painted decoration on its plaster walls at Nekhen. So in this paper and the previous paper the Location where Narmer probably buried, I can get a hypothesis that Yu(Narmer) chose Fanshan (反山) as his tomb at first , but died while on a hunting tour to the eastern frontier of his empire, so the fleet used the wood pile to fasten the Wupeng boat(乌篷船), and used the Wupeng boat(乌篷船) to carry the body of Narmer(Yu the Great), used Burying Stones(窆石) to bury him in Yu mausoleum (大禹陵) , Mount Kuaiji (会稽山) , south of present-day Shaoxing (绍兴).

In times of crisis and conflict, when injustice and impunity cast a pall over the land, Christians can experience a common feeling: the wish that God intervene in history and bring justice, which does not seem to come through human efforts alone. However, this longing for justice can hide a certain desire for revenge. That is the feeling of the slaughtered people of Revelation 6:10 who cry out to God for revenge. This article proposes, from the analysis of the biblical book, that the way that God responds to the victims’ clamor of vengeance is not by attacking the oppressors but by wiping away the tears of the oppressed, giving them consolation and comfort. From the point of view of the relationship between orthopraxis and orthodoxy, it implies that, by the ecclesial community, assume as a first response this way of God’s acting, that is to say, to offer effective comfort and relief to victims.

Summary: My comment is basically restricted to the situation in which less-able students find themselves and refers only to literature in German. From this point of view I am basically able to confirm Marsh's results. It must, however, be said that with less-able pupils the opposite effect can be found: Levels of self-esteem in these pupils are raised, at least temporarily, by separate instruction, academic performance however drops; combined instruction, on the other hand, leads to improved academic performance, while levels of self-esteem drop. Apparently, the positive self-image of less-able pupils who receive separate instruction does not bring about the potential enhancement of academic performance one might expect from high-ability pupils receiving separate instruction. To resolve the dilemma, it is proposed that individual progress in learning be accentuated, and that comparisons with others be dispensed with. This fosters a self-image that can in equal measure be realistic and optimistic.

For too many years, I have been an enigma to those who have tried to help me completely recover from bulimia and binge eating. It has taken me years and countless attempts to come to a place where I can now completely own my eating while at the same time acknowledging that I need and want people around me who are encouraging and supportive but not necessarily focused on what I eat or do not eat. I am so grateful to be where I am today and I cannot thank all those who have helped me along the way enough. I feel especially grateful to those who tried to help but “failed” because I was not getting it. Well, I’ve got it now. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for caring and trying and trying again and again. Each person who has attempted to help me has contributed in some way, even if it did not feel like it at the time. If you are a person who helps others around food and eating, please don’t quit. Please do not give up on even the hardest or quirkiest of cases. We need your support and encouragement.

This research deals with the development of  self concept of Hiroko as the main character in Namaku Hiroko by Nh. Dini and tries to identify how Hiroko is portrayed in the story, how she interacts with other characters and whether she is portrayed as a character dominated by ”I” element or  ”Me”  element seen  from sociological and cultural point of view. As a qualitative research in nature, the source of data in this research is the novel Namaku Hiroko (1967) and the data ara analyzed and presented deductively. The result of this analysis shows that in the novel, Hiroko as a fictional character is  portrayed as a girl whose personality  develops and changes drastically from ”Me”  to ”I”. When she was still in the village  l iving with her parents, she was portrayed as a obedient girl who was loyal to the parents, polite and acted in accordance with the social customs. In short, her personality was dominated by ”Me”  self concept. On the other hand, when she moved to the city (Kyoto), she was portrayed as a wild girl  no longer controlled by the social customs. She was  firm and determined totake decisions of  her won  for her future without considering what other people would say about her. She did not want to be treated as object. To put it in another way, her personality is more dominated by the ”I” self concept.

ResumenEl trabajo analiza el curso Ética Profesional en la carrera de Derecho en la Universidad Católica de Temuco. Examina la forma como se abordaba la ética profesional antes de la creación del curso, y lo que ha ocurrido con él a través de sucesivos cambios curriculares y la introducción del modelo por competencias. El curso aporta al sello identitario, mediante un enfoque multidisciplinario. El curso ha vinculado teoría y práctica, desde que comenzó a implementarse, hasta llegar actualmente a comprenderlo en la lógica de competencias. Esta mirada implica formar a los estudiantes para resolver dilemas éticos, lo que se hace mediante la metodología del ver–juzgar–actuar. Esta metodología de discernimiento es propia de la tradicióncatólica, pero se usa en este contexto sin un cariz religioso. El método en cuestión permite ir educando la autonomía a fn de tomar decisiones. Se analiza la importancia de contextualizar la enseñanza ética y la forma como esto se ha hecho en el curso. It reviews the way in which ethics was addressed before the course was created, and what has happened with it through the subsequent curricular changes and the implementation of a competency based model. The course contributes to the seal of identity through a multidisciplinary approach. Theory and practice have been progressively bound together since the course was introduced, to reach a point, nowadays, in which the course is understood within the logic of competencies. This point of view implies educating students for solving ethical dilemmas, which is done through the see–judge–act methodology. This discernment methodology belongs to the Roman Catholic tradition, but is used in this context without its religious complexion. This method allows educating autonomy in order to make decisions. It also analyses the importance of contextualizing ethics education and the way in which this has been done in the course. The article is devoted to the analysis of the system object from the point of view of design from design, sociocultural and philosophical positions. The authors systematize the definitions of a system object of design proposed in the 1960–1980s by theorists and practitioners, art historians, cultural experts and philosophers from different countries, including Russia, which allows a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of design culture. This article is devoted to the characteristic properties of the system object in design. They were considered and analyzed on the example of the «Absheron» design-program when designing of agricultural village). This concept was developed at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Technical Aesthetics (VNIITE) in 1983. Using the same example, the features of the approach to designing a system object in design was observed not only as a separate product, but as a sociocultural situation that constantly changes at each design stage.

This chapter discusses how Christ bridges the human–divine, temporal–eternal, earthly–heavenly realms by healing and purifying the believer for union with God. This union with God consists of knowing and loving God—imperfectly in this life, but perfectly in the life to come. This union happens through the conformation of the believer to Christ in love, which forms the believer for rightly ordered relationships with God, self, and neighbor. Augustine pictures the process of conformation as the journey to the homeland, a pilgrimage the believer makes to God in Christ. Christ is the way to the homeland and he is the way because he is the homeland. Christ’s mediating and healing work is inextricably tied to his dual roles as the way and the end.

This book is concerned with the way in which forces of change, from the fields of finance and non-financial corporates, cause participants in the corporate reorganization process to adapt the ways in which they mobilize corporate reorganization law. It argues that scholars, practitioners, judges, and the legislature must all take care to connect their conceptual frameworks to the specific adaptations which emerge from this process of change. It further argues that this need to connect theoretical and policy concepts with practical adaptations has posed particular challenges when US corporate reorganization law has been under examination in the decade since the financial crisis. At the same time, the book suggests that English scholars, practitioners, judges, and the legislature have been more successful, over the course of the past ten years, in choosing concepts to frame their analysis which are sensitive to the ways in which corporate reorganization law is currently used. Nonetheless, it suggests that new problems may be on the horizon for English corporate reorganization lawyers in adapting their conceptual framework in the decades to come.
