Reseаrсh study wаs соnduсted tо аnаlyze the effeсts оf Асасiа hоney аnd Аlоe verа gel оn lасerаted wоund induсed in rаbbits. Fоr this рurроse, а tоtаl оf 30 heаlthy mаle аdult rаbbits were seleсted аnd divided intо 3 grоuрs (А, B аnd С). Surgiсаl wоunds were induсed in аll rаbbits with the helр оf shаrр blunt sсissоr аnd eасh rаbbit frоm аll grоuрs wаs рre-mediсаted by аdministering аtrорine sulрhаte @0.035mg/kg bоdy weight thrоugh s/с rоute hаlf аn hоur рriоr tо surgiсаl interventiоn. Аnimаls were аnesthetized by tоtаl раrenterаl (intrаmusсulаr) аnesthesiа using а mixture оf ketаmine (35mg/kg) аnd xylаzine (5mg/kg). Rаbbits оf grоuр А were treаted with Асасiа hоney, аррlied twiсe dаily, grоuр B rаbbits were treаted with Аlоe verа gel tорiсаlly twiсe dаily while grоuр С served аs соntrоl аnd treаted with stаndаrd treаtment рyоdine. Wоunds were рrорerly соvered with sterile bаndаges tо reduсed mаximum infeсtiоns аnd the effiсасy оf these treаtments wаs evаluаted in terms оf their effeсts оn heаling time, wоund соntrасtiоn, рeriоd оf eрithelizаtiоn, tensile strength, histораthоlоgy аnd wоund index. Wоund соntrасtiоn rаte wаs higher in bоth grоuрs (А аnd B) аs соmраred tо the grоuр С (Соntrоl grоuр) аnd inсreаsed wоund соntrасtiоn were оbserved оn dаy 10 аnd wаs соmрleted оn 20 dаys. In саse оf eрithelizаtiоn, deсreаsed рeriоd оf eрithelizаtiоn wаs оbserved in grоuр А аnd B аs соmраred tо the С grоuр (соntrоl grоuр). Heаling time wаs lоwer аnd stаtistiсаlly signifiсаnt аs соmраred tо the соntrоl grоuр (grоuр С). Grоuр B wаs signifiсаnt аs соmраred tо the grоuр С. Wоund index vаlues were reduсed in bоth grоuрs А аnd B аnd grоuр С wаs higher wоund index vаlues оn dаy 15 аnd vаlue wаs 1.78 аs соmраred tо the оther treаtments grоuрs. The vаlues оf grоuр А аnd B wаs nоn signifiсаnt аt dаys 20 аs соmраred tо the соntrоl grоuр. Grоuр С wаs higher рeriоd оf eрithelizаtiоn аs соmраred tо the оther twо grоuрs А аnd B.

Aloe vera at doses of 100 and 300 mg/kg daily for 4 days blocked the wound healing suppression of hydrocortisone acetate up to 100% using the wound tensile strength assay. This response was because of the growth factors present in A. vera masking the wound healing inhibitors such as sterols and certain amino acids. The sterols showed good anti-inflammatory activity (-36%) in reducing the croton oil-induced ear swelling. This activity displayed a dose-response relationship.

Diabetic foot ulcer (DF) is a chronic complication of diabetes mellitus (DM), which impact on the morbidity, mortality and quality of patients’ lives.Of those patients with diabetes mellitus, approximately 15% to 25% developed to the foot ulcer. Beside has the infection and debridement of devitalized tissue downloading; the moisture imbalance becomes the factors of recalcitrant to healing. Moist wound healing is often contraindicated to the non-healable wounds. While wound care involves the debridement, bacterial reduction, and moisture balance in order to achieve the good granulation of the tissue development and adequate blood supply.

: Wound healing is a process which starts with inflammatory response after damage occurrence. This process happens by restoring the wound surface coating tissue, migrating fibroblasts to form the needed collagen, forming a healing tissue and finally contortion and extraction of the wound. Today, various drugs are used to heal the wound. However, the used drugs to repair wounds have some defects and side effects. In spite of all attempts to accelerate wound healing definitely, no safe drug has been introduced for this purpose. Therefore, the necessity of identifying herbal plants in ethnopharmacology and ethnobotany documents with healing effect is felt essential. In this article we tried to review and present Iranian effective medicinal plants and herbal compounds used for wound healing. Searching was performed on databases including ISI Web of Science, PubMed, PubMed Central, Scopus, ISC, SID, Magiran and some other databases. The keywords used included wound healing, skin treatment, medicinal plants, ethnobotany, and phytotherapy. In this regard, 139 effective medicinal plants on wound healing were identified based on ethnopharmacology and ethnobotanical sources of Iran. Medicinal plants such as Salvia officinalis, Echium amoenum, Verbascum spp., G1ycyrrhiza glabra, Medicago sativa, Mentha pulegium, Datura stramonium L., Alhagi spp., Aloe vera, Hypericum perforatum, Pistacia atlantica and Prosopis cineraria were the most important and effective medicinal plants on wound healing in Iran. These native Iranian medicinal plants are full of antioxidants and biological compounds and might be used for wound healing and preparation of new drugs.

In this research, self-healing due to further hydration of unhydrated cement particles is taken as an example for investigating the effects of capsules on the self-healing efficiency and mechanical properties of cementitious materials. The efficiency of supply of water by using capsules as a function of capsule dosages and sizes was determined numerically. By knowing the amount of water supplied via capsules, the efficiency of self-healing due to further hydration of unhydrated cement was quantified. In addition, the impact of capsules on mechanical properties was investigated numerically. The amount of released water increases with the dosage of capsules at different slops as the size of capsules varies. Concerning the best efficiency of self-healing, the optimizing size of capsules is 6.5 mm for capsule dosages of 3%, 5%, and 7%, respectively. Both elastic modulus and tensile strength of cementitious materials decrease with the increase of capsule. The decreasing tendency of tensile strength is larger than that of elastic modulus. However, it was found that the increase of positive effect (the capacity of inducing self-healing) of capsules is larger than that of negative effects (decreasing mechanical properties) when the dosage of capsules increases.

The treatment of wounds is one challenging biomedical field due to delayed wound healing common in chronic wounds. Several factors delay wound healing, including microbial infections, malnutrition, underlying physiological conditions, etc. Most of the currently used wound dressing materials suffer from poor antimicrobial properties, poor biodegradability and biocompatibility, and weak mechanical performance. Plant extracts, such as Aloe vera, have attracted significant attention in wound management because of their interesting biological properties. Aloe vera is composed of essential constituents beneficial for the wound healing process, such as amino acids, vitamins C and E, and zinc. Aloe vera influences numerous factors that are involved in wound healing and stimulates accelerated healing. This review reports the therapeutic outcomes of aloe vera extract-loaded polymer-based scaffolds in wound management.

Background: Older adult patients who underwent hernia surgery commonly get obstacles in the process of wound healing as a result of decline of body functions. Aloe vera which contains of anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and skin fibroblasts stimulator, can be used as adjunctive therapy in treating wounds.Objective: This study aimed to identify the effect of aloe vera extract and discharge planning to accelerate wound healing of older adult hernia surgery patients at dr. R. Soedarsono General Hospital, Pasuruan.Method: This study uses Quasi-Experimental with Static-group comparison approach. The population is all post-operative hernia patients aged 55-65 years at the operating room of dr. R. Soedarsono General Hospital, Pasuruan. The sample consists of 20 respondents taken according to the inclusion criteria. The independent variable is the treatment of wounds using aloe vera extract accompanied by discharge planning, while the dependent variable was the acceleration of wound healing especially inflammatory and proliferation phases. The data were collected through observation of macroscopic current wound care. Data were analyzed using nonparametric Mann Whitney test with significance level of < 0.05.Result: The results showed the effect of the treatment using aloe vera extract and discharge planning to accelerate wound healing of older adult hernia surgery patients, the inflammatory phase of healing occurs on the sixth day for inflammation, exudation, and edema (p = 0.022, p = 0.028, and p = 0.029, respectively). The proliferative phase occurs on day three with p = 0.015.Conclusion: This research indicates further research on the benefits of aloe vera and discharge planning for wound healing especially in older adult patients is required. Thus, a stronger basis for recommending aloe vera extract as complementary therapy for wound care is available. Key words: Aloe Vera, Discharge Planning, Surgical Wound, Older Adults Age.

Introduction: Research on the use of papaya and aloevera sap on wound healing each been done, but effects the combination of the two extracts on wound healing in diabetes mellitus condition has not been done.Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of a gel combination of papaya latex and aloevera flesh extracts on the traumatics ulcer healing process in diabetic rats.Methods: True experimental laboratory research with the post-test-only control group design that performed on 28 male wistar rats which were divided intofour groups: DM and non-DM rat that treatment with povidone iodine and gel combination of papaya latex and aloevera flesh extract. The treatment was done for 7 days with smearing that was given 2x/day. Traumatics ulcer healing seen from the number of fibroblasts that then were analyzed by One WayAnova and post hoc LSD test.Results: The results showed the number of fibroblasts in DM and non-DM rat with povidone iodine were 44.6 and 42.73; in the DM and non-DM rat with a gel combination of papaya latex and aloe vera flesh extracts were 61.10 and 77.03. One Way Anova test resulted p-value = 0.000, it was mean that there were at least a significant difference on the number of fibroblasts in the two groups. Differences of the number fibroblasts was shown in all groups, except in the group DM and non-DM rats with povidone iodine (p = 0.764).Conclusion: Conclusion of the study was the provision of a gel combination of papaya latex and aloevera flesh extracts effect on the traumatics ulcer healing process in diabetic rats.

Background The present study aimed to prepare effective silk derived formulations in combination with plant extract (Aloe vera gel) to speed up the wound healing process in diabetic mice. Methods Diabetes was induced in albino mice by using alloxan monohydrate. After successful induction of diabetes in mice, excision wounds were created via biopsy puncture (6 mm). Wound healing effect of silk sericin (5%) and silk fibroin (5%) individually and in combination with 5% Aloe vera gel was evaluated by determining the percent wound contraction, healing time and histological analysis. Results The results indicated that the best biocompatible silk combination was of 5% silk fibroin and 5% Aloe vera gel in which wounds were healed in 13 days with wound contraction: 98.33 ± 0.80%. In contrast, the wound of the control group (polyfax) healed in 19 day shaving 98.5 ± 0.67% contraction. Histological analysis revealed that the wounds which were treated with silk formulations exhibited an increased growth of blood vessels, collagen fibers, and much reduced inflammation. Conclusion It can be concluded that a combination of Bombyx mori silk and Aloe vera gel is a natural biomaterial that can be utilized in wound dressings and to prepare more innovative silk based formulations for speedy recovery of chronic wounds.
