Enterprise social networks as a supporting tool in the digital economy

Digital economy refers to an economy that is based on digital computing technologies. It is widely accepted that the growth of the digital economy has widespread impact on the economy as a whole. Companies have been trying to respond to the changes of the digital economy, and they have been integrating information technology management into their enterprises. The goal of this paper is to determine the benefits of Enterprise Social Networks in companies. The methodology of this paper is based on comparative qualitative research using a survey conducted in the Czech Republic across business sectors. The research focuses on costs related to the use of Enterprise Social Networks. The results indicate the possible use of modern technologies for more effective business management. This paper discusses the use of the latest trends and innovations concerning technologies to help managers effectively convey internal information within the digital economy. With the proliferation of Enterprise Social Networks (ESN), the measurement of ESN activity becomes increasingly relevant. The emerging field of ESN analytics aims to develop metrics and models to measure and classify user activity to support organisational goals and outcomes. In this paper we focus on a neglected area of ESN analytics, the classification of activity in ESN groups. We engage in explorative research to identify a set of metrics that divides an ESN group sample into distinct types. We collaborate with Sydney-based service provider SWOOP Analytics who provided access to actual ESN meta data describing activity in 350 groups across three organisations. By employing clustering techniques, we derive a set of four group types: broadcast streams, information forums, communities of practice and project teams. We collect and reflect on feedback from ESN champions in fourteen organisations. For ESN analytics research we contribute a set of metrics and group types. For practice we envision a method that enables group managers to compare aspirations for their groups to embody a certain group type, with actual activity patterns.

Enterprise Social Networks have a similar set of functionalities as social networking sites but are run as closed applications within a company's intranet. Interacting and communicating on the Enterprise Social Networks, the users, i.e. a company's employees, leave digital traces. The resulting digital record stored in the platform's back end bears great potential for enterprise big data engineering, analytics, and management. This book chapter provides an overview of research in the area of Enterprise Social Networks and categorizes Enterprise Social Network data based on typical functionalities of these platforms. It introduces exemplary metrics as well as a process for the analysis of ESN data. The resulting framework for the analysis of Enterprise Social Network data can serve as a guideline for researchers in the area of Enterprise Social Network analytics and companies interested in analyzing the data stored in the application's back end.

Micro-blogging is one of the most common informal social networking tools these days. Micro-blogs, a comparatively new phenomena, have changed the business world in a positive way with encouraging and providing a variability of impressions on collaboration and managerial novelty which growing very fast and becoming very popular among large organizations. Microblogging is considered as an opportunity that will finally enhance the employment engagement and providing a variety of effects on co-operative work (e.g., relational benefits & personal benefits to organizations). Until now, using enterprise social networks (ESNs) have been receiving increasingly more attention in business sectors such as multinational technology companies and practice over the past years, this article will review the biggest existing gap that is using internal social networking enterprise in academia.

Subject. The emergence of new ways of interaction between sellers and buyers, the formation of new sales channels and product promotion based on the use of digital economy tools is at the heart of improving the business processes. Social networks became a tool for development; their rapid growth necessitates theoretical understanding and identification of potential application in enterprise's business process digitalization. Objectives. We explore the role of social media in the digitalization of business processes, systematize the impact of social networks on business processes of enterprises in the digital economy. Methods. The theoretical and methodological analysis of social networks as a tool for digitalization of company's business processes rests on the content analysis of domestic and foreign scientific studies, comparison, generalization and systematization. Results. We highlight the key effects of the impact of social networks on the business processes of the company; show that the digitalization of business processes should be considered in the context of a value-based approach, aimed at creating a value through the algorithmization of company operations. We determine that social networks are one of the most important tools for digitalization of company's business processes, as they have a high organizational and management potential. We also systematize the effects of social media on company's business processes. Conclusions. We present theoretical provisions of the impact of social networks on business processes of enterprises, which will enable to model and organize ideas about the development of digital ecosystems and the formation of business models.

With the advent of modern Internet technologies, the ways of teaching Russian as a foreign language are changing rapidly. Social networks become part of the educational process and serve as a tool for creating new creative tasks aimed at developing cross-cultural competence. Modern technologies help to prepare students to communicate with representatives of other cultures, create situations that are close to those that exist in the natural cultural environment. This article discusses ways to use social networks to develop cross-cultural competence.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, many people have to accept remote working. However, as COVID-19 has been effectively controlled in China, remote office services provided by enterprise social networks (ESNs) is no longer a necessary choice of users. There has not yet been any referential research for ESN enterprises concerning how to encourage users willing to use ESNs continuously. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to identify the critical factors of ESN continuous usage intention to make up the research gap of ESN continuous usage intention and to help enterprises address the issue of sustained growth. This research combines elements of the task technology fit (TTF) model and D&M information systems success (ISS) model, explaining the continuous usage intention of ESN users. The empirical analysis results are based on the sample data of 668 Chinese respondents with experience in ESNs use and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). Results show that task technology fit, performance expectancy and the satisfaction degree have a significant influence on continuous usage intention of ESNs. The research findings can provide the theoretical basis for sustained development and follow-up research of the ESN industry.
