Introduction: A widespread intensive use of electronic devices by modern young people negatively affects their health emphasizing the importance of raising awareness of users about health risks of the uncontrolled use of gadgets and developing appropriate safety skills. High school students can get necessary information in medical institutions, at school, and at home. The objective was to study the role of parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals in forming knowledge, skills and abilities of the safe use of digital devices and related components of a healthy lifestyle in seniors. Materials and methods: In the light of the objective, a special online questionnaire-based survey was conducted in 2019 using Google Forms. It involved 200 schoolchildren in grades 9-11 (15-17 years of age), 251 parents, 389 school teachers, and 220 healthcare professionals. Results: The survey data demonstrated the lowest subjective assessment of risks of the uncontrolled use of digital devices among schoolchildren (p≤0.05) and, at the same time, the highest prevalence of the considered risk factors among them. About 30% of the schoolchildren, 20% of parents and 20% of teachers underestimate behavioral risk factors of the uncontrolled use of gadgets (p≤0.05). I established the leading role of parents in forming the skill of long-term screen time in young people and noted low competence of healthcare professionals in issues of the safe use of digital devices and related components of a healthy lifestyle (using devices in poor lighting, inappropriate places and positions, lacking regular breaks, underestimating risks of low physical activity and eating less than 3 meals a day). I also found that teachers, being aware of safety requirements, comply with them but do not use this experience in their professional activities. Only 65% of schoolchildren and parents and 60% of teachers (p≤0.05) have skills of a safe screen use and take measures to preserve and maintain visual acuity. Conclusions: The survey revealed the importance of improving awareness of the population in issues of the safe use of digital devices, increasing the number of school subjects providing knowledge on this issue and contributing to the development of related healthy lifestyle components, and using all possible sources of transmission of relevant information.

The extension of technology in current society has encouraged teachers to introduce products based on VR and IVR in their classrooms, especially video games. In this paper the specific role of video games in cultural heritage and history teaching is analyzed. Moreover, the results of recent research on the application of video games in Secondary Education is discussed. The results advocate taking into account principles such as Civic Education, Historical Relevance, Engagement, Applicability and Multimodality (what has been called the CREAM Model) in the design of a video game. These principles are especially important if the video game aims to introduce archaeological and/or historical contents into the classroom. This model has been implemented in the design of the IVR video game Carthago Nova, which is discussed as an exemplar of how the proposed principles can be engaged. The educational sequence, in which the video game is contextualized, reinforces its educational aims.

Abstract The engagement of young people is already considered essential for preservation and promotion of culture heritage. United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the European Commission, national governments and numerous organisations have undertaken a series of initiatives and projects that are aimed at engaging young people in the preservation and promotion of cultural values from the international level to the local ones. The aim of this study is to identify and analyse the role of youth in cultural heritage preservation and promotion in a local area, after considering the importance of their engagement. The research has been conducted on the basis of quantitative and qualitative data, which has been collected from primary and secondary sources. A survey is conducted in a local urban area (the city of Korça) that is rich in cultural heritage. This city is located in the south-eastern part of Albania. The data gathered through the questionnaire was later coded and analysed using SPSS v. 20 software. Based on the results of the research, the engagement of youth, especially students, in maintenance of archaeological sites, museums and libraries, training culture programs, guide walk tourist itineraries and participation in local heritage projects, enhance not only their awareness concerning heritage values, but also contributes towards their preservation and promotion. It is observed from the survey that the level of awareness of young people interviewed is higher among those who have been engaged in projects and cultural activities for preservation and promotion of heritage values. In terms of willingness expressed by young people, it is important to emphasise the role that education system, youth and heritage organisations and national and local government ought to play in encouraging the initiatives that involve more young people in heritage activities and projects.

Currently, one of the main strategic tasks of the Russian state is to preserve the cultural and civilizational code of Russia. In this regard, issues related to historical memory are being updated. Despite the development of the problem field of research, the authors of this work chose a non-standard approach to the problem and set a goal - to consider the formation of the historical memory of modern Russian youth through the development of cultural volunteerism. The example of cultural volunteering shows how objects of spiritual, historical and cultural heritage are preserved, cultural, educational and creative events are held, and the population gets acquainted with the world’s best examples of art. During the analysis, the authors came to the conclusion that volunteering in the field of culture helps not only to preserve the cultural and historical heritage of the country, to immerse young people in the history of their people and to acquaint the population with the best world examples of art, but also allows young people to become the part of the country’s history by organizing and conducting large-scale events.
