Abstrak Penelitian ini membahas tentang penggunaan e-learning ketika terjadinya pandemic covid-19 terhadap mahasiswa di beberapa perguruan tinggi di Kalimantan Selatan, Indonesia. Meskipun ada beberapa yang meneliti tentang e-learning pada masa pandemi, tapi peneliti lebih menekankan pada efektifitas daring dibandingkan ketika berada di ruang kelas. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lapangan yang bersifat kuantitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi terhadap pembelajaran yang bersifat daring dampaknya terhadap kesiapan peserta didik. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa 80% mahasiswa belum siap mengikuti pembelajaran daring secara total, kecuali jika menggunakan metode blended learning. Sebanyak 60% mahasiswa berpendapat bahwa finansial merupakan bagian terpenting dalam pembelajaran daring berdasarkan kuota, sementara 25% responden tidak mempermasalahkan ekonomi. Dengan pendapatan per-kapita yang harus tinggi menyebabkan pola yang digunakan hanya smartphone saja. Hasil yang didapat juga bertolak bekalang dengan tujuan e-learning, sehingga pembelajaran kurang efektif. Hal ini disebabkan ketidaksiapan para mahasiswa dalam menghadapi new normal dalam pembelajaran secara daring.   Kata kunci:, Pendidikan; Pemecahan Masalah; Pengukuran; Pembelajaran; Abstract This research explores the use of E-learning in many universities in Southern Kalimantan in Indonesia in the Covid-19 pandemic against students. Although some researchers study e-learning during a pandemic, researchers concentrate more on the quality of e-learning than in a classroom. This study is a phenomenologically focused quantitative field research which has an impact on the students' preparation. This study shows that 80 % of students are not prepared to completely engage in online learning unless they use the combined form of learning. Sixty percent of students agree that finance is the key part of online quota-based learning, while 25 percent of students do not care about the economy. This results in a trend which is only used by smartphones with a high per capita income. The findings also run counter to the goal of e-learning, which makes learning less efficient. This is attributable to students being unprepared to face the latest online learning standard. Keywords: Education; Problem Solving; Measurement; Learning;

Abstract Objective The objective was to analyze the occurrence and the associated factors with food insecurity and overweight among government-backed economy restaurant workers in one of the biggest cities in Brazil. Methods A sample comprised of 180 individuals and represented 76.0% of all economy restaurant workers in the city of Belo Horizonte. Food insecurity was identified through the Brazilian Food Security Scale, and excess weight was identified by the body mass index. Data collection included sociodemographic and occupational information, and also health and quality of life perception. Logistic regression models were applied to identify the association. Results Food insecurity and overweight prevalence levels were 24.0% and 66.7%, respectively. The odds of identifying food insecurity were 2.34 times higher among workers that perceived their quality of life to be regular/poor/very poor and 62.0% and 74.0% lower among workers from the 2nd and 3rd tertile of per capita income, respectively. Individuals ≥40 years old (Odds Ratio=2.69, Confidence Interval 95%:1.33-5.43) and food handlers (Odds Ratio=3.62, Confidence Interval 95%:1.68-7.81) had higher odds of being classified as overweight compared to reference categories. Workers with higher per capita income presented lower odds of being classified as overweight (Odds Ratio=0.40, Confidence Interval 95%:0.17-0,96). Conclusion It was evidenced an occurrence of overweight among government-backed economy restaurant workers, which was associated with age, income and job position. Food insecurity prevalence was associated with income and quality of life perception. Although the sample work in a food and nutritional security promotion program, it is necessary to recommend actions aimed at the promotion of healthy eating habits.

This study aimed at exploring the philosophy of digital minimalism, and put forward its importance for an effective online learning in higher education during the lockdown. The long quarantine that the COVID 19 pandemic imposed on most countries of the world has brought radical changes in the way schools, colleges and universities operate. In Algerian higher education, creating online platforms for students was the only solution to move on. However, ignoring that most Algerian students often go online for self-entertainment may lead to a failure or an incomplete success of online teaching during this critical period. To investigate this issue, a questionnaire with only open-ended questions was designed and distributed to 35 students of Language and Communication master, at the English department of Abdelhamid Ibn Badis University. The 35 participants were the researcher’s students in the classes of e-learning. Results showed that most participants were distracted by social media notifications. Also, it turned out that the 35 students had no idea of what digital minimalism or digital maximalism is. As a matter of fact, it is suggested that before launching online lectures and webinars for our students, it is of paramount importance to guide them during their online existence and to show them how to be digital minimalists.

In order to satisfy the needs of growing numbers of adult learners, the availability of well-designed, effectively implemented, and efficiently delivered online courses is essential (MacDonald, Stodel & Casimiro, 2006; Palloff & Pratt, 2001). Despite the demand and prevalence of e-learning, there are still concerns regarding the quality and effectiveness of education offered online (Carstens & Worsfold, 2000; Noble, 2002). Too often, in an “effort to simply get something up and running” (Dick, 1996, p. 59), educators have been forced to compromise quality and design. Intensive competition among educational institutions has resulted in quality assurance becoming a critical issue for promoting learning and learning programs. Within this economically motivated environment, online learning has not escaped the scrutiny of quality standards. Quality in online programs is generally defined in terms of the design of the learning experience, the contextualized experience of learners, and evidence of learning outcomes (Jung, 2000; Salmon, 2000). However, the plethora of online learning courses and programs with few standards to ensure the quality of content, delivery, and/or service creates a challenge. The resulting variance in quality makes it difficult for an organization or learner to choose a program that meets their needs and is also of high quality.

This chapter examines the development of online learning systems, how they incorporate reusable learning modules and how various forms of assessment are employed to improve the quality of the learning outcomes. Corporations are adopting online learning, or e-learning, at a dramatic rate, partly driven by a desire for cost reduction and partly to ensure that all staff have the required skills and ability to their jobs. Organizations are increasingly linking the systems for delivery of this learning into human resource management systems. Universities, despite some movement to e-learning are in a position to learn form the developments in the corporate world. A case study is used to illustrate many of the concepts discussed. In conclusion, the chapter suggests how these corporate experiences might be transferred into the academic world and sounds a note of warning for the universities if they fail to match the corporate offerings.

Many educational experts predict that in the future blended learning will become far more common than traditional Face-to-Face (F2F) or online learning. With this in mind, instructors are being asked or required to move F2F courses to a blended environment. When doing so, there are a variety of issues to consider. Thus, a framework for transference is necessary. This framework includes the seven principles for good practice for undergraduate education. This chapter covers the essential topics to help educators conduct a successful transference and uphold the quality of their courses.
