In 2011, there were 32.4 million pregnant women aged 15-49 years in the world experiencing anemia. Data (WHO 2011) shows that around (30%) pregnant women in Indonesia experience anemia. This figure is higher compared to some other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia (27%), Singapore (28%), and Vietnam (23%). This study aims to determine the relationship of anemia in pregnant women with the incidence of low birth weight babies (LBW) in the Mother and Child Hospital Sitti Khadijah 1 Makassar in 2018. Research conducted is descriptive analytic using cross sectional method in which a study, variables including risk factors and variables including effects are observed at once at the same time. Based on data from 70 pregnant women who have anemia, there are 66 pregnant women classified as mild anemia (94.3%) and 4 pregnant women with moderate anemia category (5.7%). Of the 23 pregnant women who gave birth to LBW babies were categorized into mild anemia as many as 22 (31.4%) and moderate anemia as much as 1 (1.42%). Based on the chi-square statistical test results obtained p value> 0.05 (p = 0.601) which means there is no significant relationship between anemia in pregnant women with the incidence of low birth weight in the Mother and Child Hospital Sitti Khadijah 1 Makassar in 2018.

Introduction: The nutritional status of pregnant women has a significant impact on the fetus's health and development. Low birth weight can be caused by womb growth problems. Research in Nepal shows that babies with low birth weight have a higher risk of becoming stunted. West Sulawesi is the most populous province in Central Indonesia, with a population of 39.7%. In Mamuju District, West Sulawesi, the relationship between stunted babies and maternal nutritional status during pregnancy was investigated. Methods: Cross sectional analytic survey with a retrospective approach. Data processing using the chi square test. The population in this study was 20.039 people. Total sampling was used to collect nutritional status data of children under the age of five in West Sulawesi province from February to June 2020. In this study, 88 people were sampled, all of whom were mothers of stunted children aged 2 to 5 Years old and who had a KIA book during pregnancy. Results: The results of statistical tests showed that the p value of nutritional status with BMI and LILA 0.000 and the p value of HB levels 0.066. There was a link between pregnant women's nutritional status and LILA, but not between HB levels and stunting. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between the nutritional status of pregnant women based on BMI and LILA and the incidence of stunting in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province.

Birth weight is a measurement for the baby an hour after birth, and it is categorized into three types. They are low birth weight (<2500 gram), normal birth weight (2500-4000 gram), and obese birth weight (>4000 gram). According to the Ministry of Health of Indonesia, low birth weight could be at risk of death, disorder of growth and development. This research aimed to determine the correlation between nutritional status, anemia and parity to birth weight in Semampir sub-district of Surabaya city in 2016. It was an observational study with cross sectional design. The data used were secondary data about birth weight as dependent variable, whereas nutritional status, anemia and parity as independent variables. The result of Pearson’s linier correlation test showed that on one hand, there was a significant correlation between nutritional status, anemia and parity to birth weight with p-value = 0,017 and 0,000. On the other hand, there was no correlation between anemia and birth weight (p = 0,857). The conclusion was mother with normal nutritional status and mother with no risk of parity between 2 – 4 times were mostly delivering babies in normal birth weight.

ABSTRACT   Low birth weight (LBW) infants with birth weight is less than 2500 grams, regardless of gestational age. Statistically showed 90 % incidence of LBW obtained in developing countries with a mortality rate 35 times higher tinggi.Di South Sumatra Province Infant Mortality Rate ( IMR ) is 29 per 1,000 live births. In Palembang BARI hospitals incidence of LBW in 2013 amounted to 317 cases . The purpose of this study is to determine is there a relationship between the factors of age, education, and parity with the incidence of Low Birth Weight in Palembang BARI hospitals in 2013. This study used survey method crosss sectional analytic approach. The study population was all women who gave birth and was admitted to hospital obstetrics Palembang BARI installations in 2013 amounted to 901. This research was conducted in February 2014. Samples were taken with a random sampling method sistematic. Analyze data using statistical test Chi - Square. Results of univariate analysis of this study showed that 193 (69.4 %) of the respondents had low birth weight, and 85 (30.6 %) respondents had BBLN. 63 (22.7 %) of respondents with a high risk of maternal age and 215 (77.3 %) of respondents with a low risk of maternal age. 157 (56.5 %) respondents with low education mothers and 121 (43.5 %) of respondents with higher education mothers. 48 (17.3 %) respondents with high parity mothers and 230 (82.7 %) respondents with low parity mothers. So the bivariate analysis showed no significant association between maternal age with the incidence of LBW with P value = 0.035, no significant association between education and the incidence of LBW with P value = 0.006, and no significant relationship between the incidence of low birth weight with parity P value = 0.041. It is recommended for health care workers (midwives) hospital in order to be used as material information regarding the occurrence of LBW and as an input as well as the evaluation of success in good health or when needed to do counseling and care of LBW, especially to mothers who give birth to low birth weight baby.   ABSTRAK Berat badan lahir rendah (BBLR) adalah bayi dengan berat lahir kurang dari 2500 gram tanpa memandang masa gestasi. Background: Pregnancy may increase the risk of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection because of pregnancy induced immune suppression. The objective of this study was to use a large population-based dataset to estimate the prevalence of HPV infection and its association with adverse outcomes among pregnant women. Methods: We analyzed Pregnancy Risk Monitoring System data from 2004-2011 (N=26,085) to estimate the self-reported HPV infection. Survey logistic procedures were used to examine the relationship between HPV infection and adverse perinatal outcomes. Results: Approximately 1.4% of women were estimated to have HPV infection during their pregnancy. The prevalence of adverse outcomes in this sample was preterm birth (8.4%), preeclampsia (7.5%), low birth weight (6.3%) and premature rupture of membranes (2.8%). Compared to women without HPV infection, HPV infection positive women were much more likely to have had other infections such as chlamydia (9.23% vs. 2.12%, p-value <.0001), Group B Strep (21.7% vs. 10.04%, p-value <.0001), and herpes (7.17% vs. 1.07%, p-value <.0001). After adjusting for other risk factors including other infections, HPV infection was significantly associated with low birth weight (OR: 1.94, 95% CI: 1.14-3.30). Conclusion: The study indicated a potential association between HPV infection and low birth weight. Because pregnant women with HPV infection are at higher risk of other infections, future research may focus on the roles of co-infection in the development of adverse perinatal effects.

Background: It has been since antiquity that the importance of amniotic fluid and fetal growth with perinatal outcome is being documented. But the lacunae lies in studying the relationship between borderline amniotic fluid and perinatal outcome. The following study was undertaken to provide recent data that would help predict perinatal outcome in borderline AFI pregnancies. Methods: About 144 patients were considered in the study OPD/IPD patients in obstetrics and gynecology department in Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and Hospital, with about 72 cases with borderline amniotic fluid index (5-8 cm) and controls with amniotic fluid index ≥9-25 cm. Patients were selected and subjected to history taking, examination, ultrasound test with doppler studies and perinatal outcome documented over a period of one year. Results: The incidence of borderline AFI in my study was 16%. 58% were primigravidas. Meconium stained liquor was found in 18% cases compared to 7% controls. Low birth weight was found in 12.5% cases and 2.7% in controls. On applying statistical test analysis chi square test, it was found that borderline amniotic fluid index in relation to presence of meconium stained amniotic fluid and low birth weight, p value was found to be statistically significant (<0.05).Conclusions: Borderline amniotic fluid and perinatal outcome had significant relationship in terms of meconium stained liquor and birth weight while rest had no significance. Thus, borderline amniotic fluid patients require vigilant fetal surveillance.
